Actress begs for $300,000 to 'cryogenically preserve' teenage son's body after d

An Australian actress is asking for help to raise $300,000 (£143,000) to 'cryogenically preserve' her teenage son after he took his own life.
Clare McCann has begged for support following the death of her son Atreyu, who died last week aged 13.
Best known for appearing in the Channel [V] shows Blog Party and Clublife, Clare is also a regular on Sydney's social circuit and would bring her son with her to red carpet premieres.
They also appeared together in the 2019 independent film Benefited, which she wrote, directed and starred in.
However, this week Clare announced the heartbreaking news that her son had died by suicide after 'months of relentless bullying'.
'It's with shattered hearts that we share the passing of my beautiful son, Atreyu McCann. He was the brightest light in my world — kind, creative, and endlessly loved,' she wrote. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKBErftSkgM/?hl=en
'Right now, we are grieving a loss that words can't hold. Please give us time and space as we process this unimaginable pain.
'Thank you to everyone who has supported and loved Atreyu. We'll share more when we're ready. For now, please hold him in your hearts.'
The actress later went on to share another post 'humbly begging' people to 'help me preserve his life'.
Clare explained that 'about six or seven years ago' she spoke to her son about 'the afterlife, heaven and cryogenics', which he said he'd 'like to do'.
'Over the years we talked about that that's what we would want to do together, never separate. He deserves a second chance to live the life he wanted,' she continued.
The actress has since shared links to an online fundraiser she's set up on GoFundMe to 'allow him to live again'.
The fundraiser, titled Help Preserve My Son After Bullying Tragedy, explains how Clare is 'urgently' trying to raise the money within a week or 'the opportunity for him to live again will be lost forever'.
'We only have one chance left to cryogenically preserve his body within the next 7 days. If we miss this window, we lose the chance for any future revival that science may offer. This is about hope and justice. Refusing to let my son's story end in silence,' she said.
Clare went on to explain how the money would be spent on the process, as well as a trust in her son's name and a 'national campaign for anti-bullying education and reform'.
'I am a public figure with a national platform, and I will use every resource I have to make sure this never happens again, not just to my son, but to any other child failed by this system,' she continued. More Trending
'Please help us preserve our beloved Atreyu and give his life the dignity and future that his school stole from him. Share this campaign. Tell his story. And stand with us. We only have 7 days. Please act now.'
The fundraiser has currently raised $3895 (£1869).
The first cryonics facility opened in Australia last year, with the first person to be 'frozen' at its facility with the hopes of one day being revived being a man in his 80s.

Bring Her Back star has an insanely famous grandad and fans are only just realising

We'd love to be a fly on the wall at their family get togethers The Philippou brothers' highly-anticipated horror film Bring Her Back is out in the UK tomorrow (July 26), two years on from their critically-acclaimed cinematic debut, Talk To Me. ‌ Bring Her Back tells the story of two siblings, Piper and Andy, who are fostered following the untimely death of their father. However, their new caregiver Laura (Sally Hawkins) is still grieving the loss of her own daughter, and acts in increasingly odd ways after their arrival at her home. ‌ Among the cast are rising Australian stars Jonah Wren Phillips (Sweet Tooth) and Sora Wong, alongside British actor Billy Barratt. ‌ Billy, who plays Andy in the film, may already look familiar to some due to his long list of acting credits which includes appearances in Kraven the Hunter, Sharknado 5 and Invasion. He became the youngest actor ever to win an International Emmy Award for Best Actor when he was just 13 thanks to his role in BBC drama, Responsible Child. However, what fans may not know is that Billy has an insanely famous grandad. The star is related to Welsh music icon Shakin' Stevens (real name Michael Barratt). The music legend's hits include Merry Christmas Everyone, Because I Love You and Give Me Your Heart Tonight. ‌ He isn't the only famous family member either. Billy's dad is a sought-after mix engineer called Dean James Barratt who has worked across film and TV and with some big music acts too, including Jess Glynne and Craig David. Shaky, as he is known by fans, is Dean's dad. Meanwhile Billy's mum is also a famous face. Carolyn Owlett is a model, TV and radio host and singer in The 411. She also takes on the role of manager for Billy. ‌ Ahead of Bring Her Back's UK release, Billy shared how he got into the mindset for his character Andy. In an interview with Deadline, he revealed: "There were moments where Danny [Philippou] would basically lock me in a room by myself, and he goes, 'Just try and get in character.' "He shut the door, I'm not allowed to leave. I ended up just sitting there with no phone, no nothing — which is great, by the way. I just sat there for ages, and then when I came back outside of that door, back into the scene … you just feel like you are there are in it." He admitted that the technique had actually developed him as an actor, adding: "Seeing the effect it had actually helped me so much, not just in the script but in future projects as well. So thank you, Danny." Bring Her Back releases in UK cinemas July 26

Nicole Kidman could flee Trump's US after applying for residency in Europe

Nicole Kidman could be swapping US soil for the sun of Portugal after applying for residency in the country. The Babygirl actor, 58, submitted her paperwork to the country's immigration agency earlier this week, according to local media outlet SIC Notícias. The Australian icon, who was seen stepping out of a private jet in Cascais – a wealthy seaside enclave just outside of Lisbon – is reportedly browsing for a lavish new pad. The Oscar-winner is said to be eyeing up a property at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxury development about 130km south of Lisbon, which is known as a favourite among the Hollywood elite. George Clooney and Paris Hilton enjoy spending time here, and it is also a base for Princess Eugenie. Husband Keith Urban was reportedly not mentioned in the documents. The New York Post reports that the Blue Ain't Your Colour singer was unable to break away from touring for the trip. 'Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the US, and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present to apply for the visa,' The Post reported. 'He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule.' The Portugal Golden Visa program allows investors to obtain residency through real estate investment. Kidman and Urban already own a home in Lisbon. Kidman and Urban have multiple properties across the US and Australia, with the Holland actor spending much of her time in the US due to work. They wouldn't be the first stars to leave the US since Trump's presidency began. Comedian Rosie O'Donnell moved from the US to Ireland, with Trump recently threatening to revoke her citizenship. Posting on Truth Social, he said the star was 'not in the best interests of our great country', adding: 'I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her.' O'Donnell posted a picture of Trump with his arm around Jeffrey Epstein on her Instagram in response. Addressing the President, she suggested she lives 'rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours' after 18 years of animosity between them. The comedian added: 'You are everything that is wrong with america – and I'm everything you hate about what's still right with it. More Trending 'You want to revoke my citizenship? go ahead and try, king joffrey with a tangerine spray tan.' Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has fled the US for the UK at the end of 2024. Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, made the leap and ditched their life in Montecito and set themselves up in the ultra-luxury English countryside, the Cotswolds. The Wrap reported that the duo told friends that Trump's coming to power was the 'primary motivation' and that they planned to 'never return' to the US. Got a story? Influencer receives 'crazy' cosmetic procedure which leaves her with shock lumps all over her face and neck - but she swears it is better than fillers

An Australian influencer has revealed the results of a shocking cosmetic procedure that left raised bumps across her lips, jaw and neck. Skye Wheatley, 31, is very open about the numerous procedures and surgeries she has undergone to achieve her ideal look, including a controversial 'fox eye' surgery. But on Friday the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner went under the needle once more for skin boosters, which leave behind unusual lumps in the skin. 'I got some skin boosters done today. I don't know exactly what she used. But I got them through here [points at her lips], all on my neck,' she said on Instagram. Skye then leaned in close to show the numerous raised bumps covering her neck, lips and jaw. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'This is what it looks like. It looks crazy, but it just plumps the skin, adds so much hydration, and I'm obsessed with skin boosters,' she continued. 'I don't think I would want to touch filler over skin boosters at all. I really just want to work on getting my skin strong, healthy, and just adding lots of collagen, hydration.' Skin boosters are the latest cosmetic treatment trend sweeping through the influencer community. The procedure involves injecting hyaluronic acid into the skin, with claims it improves hydration and elasticity by boosting the skin's natural ability to retain moisture. While dermal fillers add volume and structure, skin boosters are said to stimulate collagen production and enhance the skin's natural quality and texture. They can sometimes leave bumps under the skin near the injection sites, but these typically go away after a few days as the product disperses. It comes after Skye underwent a controversial fox eye lift surgery, among several other procedures, in Turkey last October. The influencer revealed she couldn't open her eyes for three days following the procedure. 'Being in a foreign hospital with no eyesight was pretty unsettling,' she previously said. Skye also had liposuction, a complementary temporal lift, and a blepharoplasty. A temporal lift is a fat transfer into the face to prevent the need for injectable dermal fillers, and a blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery. Skye has previously revealed on Instagram a list of all the plastic surgery procedures she's ever had done. She mentioned surgery on her nose, her breasts (twice), arms, inner thigh, and face.
