PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Ed Fiori, who for 13 years was the only player to rally from a 54-hole deficit to beat Tiger Woods on the PGA Tour, died Sunday, the tour said on its website. He was 72.
The tour said Fiori had been battling cancer. It provided no other details.

A four-time winner on the PGA Tour, no victory was more memorable than the 1996 Quad City Classic, now the John Deere Classic. Three tournaments into his pro career, a 20-year-old Woods had a one-shot lead over Fiori going into the final round at Oakwood Country Club.
Woods had a quadruple bogey on the fourth hole and a four-putt double bogey on the seventh hole. He shot 72 to tie for fifth, four shots behind Fiori. Woods won two starts later in Las Vegas. He never lost a 54-hole lead in another PGA Tour-sanctioned event until Y.E. Yang beat him in the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine.
Lee Westwood overcame a deficit to beat Woods in 2000 in a European tour event in Germany.
Fiori also beat two other Hall of Fame members in playoffs, Tom Weiskopf in the 1979 Southern Open and Tom Kite in the 1982 Bob Hope Classic.

'In three of his four wins on the PGA Tour, he dueled down the stretch with future World Golf Hall of Fame members, most notably Tiger Woods in 1996. That grit and resolution in the face of immeasurable odds is incredibly admirable in every aspect of life, and I know he battled cancer with that same determination until the end,' said Miller Brady, president of the PGA Tour Champions. 'He will be missed by all of us at the tour.'
Fiori played only 58 times on the senior circuit after turn 50, winning in 2004 in Mexico.
'I hung on for a few more years, and played for a while on the senior tour, but my back was always a problem,' Fiori said in a 2019 interview with Golf.com "I had spinal fusion surgery in 2005, and from then on, I struggled to break 80.
'Don't feel sorry for me, though. I've had a great life in a game I love. It was never easy. Lots of times, I was on that flight heading home on Friday nights,' he said. 'But I would not trade it for anything. Even today, people call me the Tiger killer. They don't always get their facts straight, but I don't mind. I'll never forget that weekend at the John Deere.'

Bonner was released by the Fever on June 25 after the team failed to find a trade partner. The veteran has only played in nine games this season, averaging 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists. She hasn't played since June 10. Now, Bonner will reportedly join a thriving Mercury team, which is currently tied for second in the league with a 12-6 record, winning seven of their last ten games. Bonner will join her fiancée and former Sun teammate Alyssa Thomas in Phoenix, and will also take the court alongside stars like Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper.

The 2026 NFL Draft, at first glance, offers several enticing quarterback prospects, spanning different archetypes, journeys, and physical traits. No quarterback in this class has the athleticism of South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers. Texas' prodigal son, Arch Manning, has taken casual college football fans by storm. Clemson's Cade Klubnik, Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, and Penn State's Drew Allar should all make plays for Round 1, too. Among the Heisman hopefuls and potential first-round picks is LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who had the opportunity to search for greener pastures after a 9-4 season kept the Tigers out of the College Football Playoff. Instead, he stayed home in Baton Rouge, opting to conclude his collegiate career where it started. LSU knows what it has at the sport's most important position, throwing (and completing) more passes than any team in the SEC a season ago. His 12 interceptions also led the conference, although the rest of his production profile, including 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns, helps offset those concerns. Continuity at quarterback is important, and with a top prospect under center, the Tigers are poised to find success in 2025. Collin Morikawa partners with caddie Billy Foster for the Scottish Open, British Open after shakeups
Collin Morikawa has settled on a new caddie, at least for the next two weeks. Morikawa is teaming up with longtime caddie Billy Foster for this week's Genesis Scottish Open and next week's British Open at Royal Portrush, according to Ben Parsons . Foster will mark the fourth caddie that Morikawa has worked with this season after he parted with his longtime partner J.J. Jakovac in April. Foster has worked with plenty of big names in the golf world throughout his career, including Seve Ballesteros, Darren Clarke and Thomas Bjørn. He most recently worked with Matt Fitzpatrick, and he was on the bag with him when Fitzpatrick won the U.S. Open in Massachusetts in 2022. Fitzpatrick and Foster split after The Players Championship earlier this season. Advertisement Morikawa and Jakovac worked together dating back to the start of Morikawa's pro career, but the duo split in April. Since then, Morikawa has bounced around quite a bit. He worked with Joe Greiner, who split with Max Homa, for several events, and then brought on KK Limbhasut, his former college teammate at Cal, to caddie for him at the Rocket Classic last month. Though Morikawa said his split with Greiner was amicable — he admitted that the two were 'just on a little bit of a different page' — he got into a tense exchange with a reporter at the Rocket Classic over his caddie change. That marked just his latest such exchange with reporters this season. Morikawa enters this week's tournament at The Renaissance Club at No. 5 in the Official World Golf Rankings. The two-time major winner has won six times on the PGA Tour, most recently at the Zozo Championship in 2023. He has four top-10 finishes this season, and he's coming off a T8 finish at the Rocket Classic in Detroit last month.
