Claressa Shields Responds To Post-Fight Complaint: ‘That Was My Moment'
Claressa Shields won her undisputed heavyweight title fight against Lani Daniels on Saturday night, but she nearly found herself in a tiff with a friend and potential future opponent.
Franchón Crews-Dezurn, a former undisputed super middleweight champion, was in Detroit for Shields' fight and it seems she was under the impression there would be an opportunity for a faceoff with the GWOAT. This is often done to hint at and promote the next big fight between the winner and their next potential opponent.
When no faceoff materialized, Crews-Dezurn took to social media to voice her concern. She called the lack of action "corny AF," and suggested someone in charge was playing games. Shields saw the post and responded to clarify the situation.

Here's the exchange between the two fighters.
Crews-Dezurn feels she wasted her time coming to Detroit expecting to face off with Shields—cutting it close with another business engagement—only to be ignored by the GWOAT and her team.
This is a potential future fight, and Shields doesn't have a ton of opposition to face with a respectable resume. Crews-Dezurn, whom she fought and defeated in both women's professional debut, is one who could help Shields sell a fight.
Shields and Crews-Dezurn have supported each other through the years, and there appears to have been a reconciliation online after the initial smoke. Shields asked her followers not to come for Crews-Dezurn in a follow-up post.
However, Crews-Dezurn didn't back down from her original stance, though she did tell Shields she loves her. Shields accepted Crews-Dezurn's statement and clearly is trying to salvage their relationship.
Shields is at an interesting point in her career. The 30-year-old future Hall-of-Famer just had the last fight on her promotional contract with Dmitry Salita. She is a promotional free agent and could be signed by Matchroom or even Jake Paul's MVP Promotions.
That said, Crews-Dezurn is a serious possibility as a next opponent and this story could continue to build over the next few months. Shields has called out Savannah Marshall, another top-notch fighter in her weight region that she's already beaten, Shadasia Green and retired legend Laila Ali.
There was reportedly a $15 million offer made to Ali for the fight, but the 47-year-old hasn't responded. Nevertheless, something significant is coming up for Shields before the end of the year.

Micah Parsons' Patrick Mahomes Comments Resurface After Cowboys Trade Request

Micah Parsons' Patrick Mahomes Comments Resurface After Cowboys Trade Request originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Dallas Cowboys have had a rough start to their 2025 training camp, losing starting left tackle Tyler Guyton for multiple weeks with a knee injury. But things continued to go downhill for Jerry Jones and company, as star defender Micah Parsons seems to be on his way out. And some seem to believe that he will end up with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Micah Parsons Requests Trade From Cowboys Micah Parsons has been arguably the best player for the Cowboys since he joined the team in 2021. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, the three-time All-Pro expected a massive pay raise, but hasn't come close in negotiations with Jerry and Stephen Jones. On Friday, enough was enough for Parsons, requesting a trade with a lengthy X post. "Yes I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet," he wrote. "I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this Americas team once again. The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately I no longer want to be here. I no longer want to be held to close door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me." Parsons also noted at the end of his statement that his "trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally." Fans Dig Up Micah Parsons' Statement on Patrick Mahomes Amid ongoing speculation about where Parsons might land, fans resurfaced a post from the Cowboys star during Super Bowl LVIII, a 25-22 Chiefs win over the 49ers. At the time, Parsons called Mahomes the 'GOAT,' a title many still reserve for Tom Brady. "Pat mahomes =GOAT! Idc we never seen someone on this pace and level ever!!" Parsons wrote on Feb. 11, 2024. Following the trade request, many fans speculated that Parsons could eventually join Mahomes and the Chiefs, pointing to his previous post as evidence in their reactions. "I know you wanna come over here," one Chiefs fan said. "Veach it's time to assemble the recruitment Avengers. PM15, CJ95, and TK87 lets get to work! #ChiefsKingdom," wrote a second. "Come to KC ❤️," posted a third. "@MicahhParsons11 come play with the GOAT and come get you a ring Big Dawg!" commented another. Is There A Chance Parsons Lands With The Chiefs? While Parsons teaming up with Mahomes and defensive tackle Chris Jones on the Chiefs sounds fun in theory, initial reports indicate that the Cowboys do not intend on trading their edge rusher away, despite his request. "The Dallas Cowboys have no intention of trading Micah Parsons, per sources," The Athletic's Dianna Russini wrote on X. "Still, teams around the league are planning to reach out to check on his availability today." Still, the unlikely addition of Parsons would certainly excite Mahomes, who had nothing but praise for the Cowboys star. 'He's a special player,' Mahomes said of Parsons in November 2021. 'I mean, to be that good of a linebacker and be able to play defensive end, there's not a lot of guys like that in this league. He has a high motor. He chased me down on that sack, the strip-sack, and the whole game he was in there the whole time battling and battling.'Micah Parsons' Patrick Mahomes Comments Resurface After Cowboys Trade Request first appeared on Athlon Sports on Aug 1, 2025 This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 1, 2025, where it first appeared.
