US Beverage Brand Issues Urgent Recall Over Vodka-Filled Energy Drinks
The mix-up happened after a packaging supplier mistakenly sent empty Celsius cans to High Noon, a brand that specialises in hard seltzer. The empty cans were filled with alcohol and then delivered to Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin between July 21 and 23.

Only two lots of High Noon Beach Variety Packs have this labelling error – one with Lot Codes L CCC 17JL25 14:00 to L CCC 17JL25 23:59 and another with Lot Codes L CCC 18JL25 00:00 to L CCC 18JL25 03:00. Consumers are urged to discard the Celsius-labelled recalled cans. If they have already bought the recalled High Noon Beach Variety 12-packs, they may reach out to High Noon Consumer Relations about the next steps, including how to obtain a refund.
"We are working with the FDA, retailers and distributors to proactively manage the recall to ensure the safety and well-being of our consumers. The states that may be impacted are: Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin,' said a representative for High Noon in a statement to The Independent.
High Noon is a popular American hard seltzer brand known for its drinks made with real vodka or tequila and real fruit juice. It was launched in 2019 by E & J Gallo Winery, a prominent American wine and spirits company. It is one of the fastest-growing alcoholic seltzer brands in the US.

Mumbai police order CCTV cameras at medical stores in a month to curb illegal drug sales
Mumbai: To check illegal sale of scheduled drugs, the Mumbai police has asked all pharmacy stores to install CCTV cameras in their premises within a month. Owners of medical stores and chemist shops are unhappy with the move as they believe such measures will not help. Scheduled drugs refer to medications regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, on the basis of how they are manufactured, stored, distributed, and prescribed. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi, too, had recently raised concerns about the sale of scheduled drugs and inhalants without valid prescriptions. The Anti-Narcotics Cell and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found several medical stores in Mumbai sold habit-forming drugs without maintaining proper records. According to the order, every medical shop in Mumbai and its suburban districts will have to install CCTV cameras at all entrances, exits, and sale counters in such a way that the faces of customers and transactions are recorded. The cameras must have a minimum resolution of 2 megapixels, and footage must be stored for at least one month. Officials from the District Drug Control Authority and Child Welfare Police Officers can inspect CCTV footage. Medical shop owners have been given a 30-day period to comply with the order. Senior officials said the initiative is part of a larger crackdown on the misuse of prescription drugs, often diverted into the narcotics trade. Abay Pandey, president of the All Food and License Holders Foundation, told TOI: "Firstly, the police have no powers to check medical stores if there are not accompanied by FDA officials. Secondly, these CCTV cameras won't serve any purpose as the prescriptions and medicine strips are written in small fonts. How is the camera going to help them?" Prasad Danave, president of Retail and Dispensing Chemist Association Mumbai, said, "How is the camera going to keep a tab on the medicines sold? What about the online sites that sell abortion pills to a 14-year-old girl? Is there any check on them?"

14 swimmers brave choppy, cold waters of English channel; 4 finish 132km relay in 33hours
Bengaluru: Certain tasks seem unattainable, yet many people throughout history have proved that inner voice wrong. Crossing the English Channel is one of those tasks. A gruelling 33km swim from the coast of England to France was completed by a group of 14, including 12 from the city, with a group of three from Bengaluru completing the rare four-member two-way English Channel relay. The group comprising Manish Jaswal, Dr Santosh Loganathan, Tejas Sati and Avinash Thandani (Mumbai) is all above the age of 40. The quartet swam the gruelling 132km in 33 hours and 3 minutes. The first leg of the swim from England to the French coast was relatively comfortable for the group, without any trouble from the water. The return leg, however, proved to be trickier with strong currents holding the team in place. The night swim was cold and choppy. They dealt with fatigue, back spasms, and nausea. Jaswal, a corporate employee who has been swimming since childhood, held down the fort through strong currents, putting the team back on course and within touching distance of the English coast. "There are no words to describe the moment," said Dr Loganathan of the feeling of returning to the English coast. All four team members jumped into the water and swam the last 200m together and received a huge round of applause by onlookers as they climbed onto the beach. "This challenge is open for everyone; we want everyone to have this sense of accomplishment. Everyone knows swimming the channel is equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest," said M Satish Kumar, managing director and coach, SwimLife that oversaw the training of the swimmers, fostering a team spirit. "More than 70% of attempts fail," he added. Rana Ghosh, a 50-year-old marketing professional who swam along the channel, exemplified team spirit in his swim as he pushed through an injury. "I had a deep cut on my wrist. Two specialists each in all taluk hospitals soon: DGR
Mangaluru: The health department plans to ensure that all taluk hospitals across the state will have at least two each of gynaecologists, anaesthetists, and paediatricians. Minister for health and family welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao told reporters on Friday that many hospitals face a shortage of specialists, while some have more postings than the actual requirement. To sort out this issue, the department will begin the process of reallocating doctors. Accordingly, specialists working in hospitals and CHCs with fewer inpatients will be deputed to the taluk hospitals, the minister said. He was speaking at a meeting of the Arogya Raksha Samiti of the Government Wenlock District Hospital on Friday. "When we ensure guaranteed services, people will visit govt hospitals. We want to make this possible in all taluk hospitals in the state," he said. While discussing Wenlock District Hospital, the minister suggested that a master plan needs to be prepared for the comprehensive development of the facility. He directed officials to discuss with the deputy commissioner and experts to prepare a master plan for Wenlock Hospital. The Minister said the govt will sanction funds required for the additional requirements at the Wenlock hospital.
