On the way to the Vidhana Soudha, fans had gathered on both sides of Race Course Road. They were dancing and cheering the team, shouting 'RCB ... RCB...'
Fans, who had come from all over the city, waited patiently for several hours outside the Vidhana Soudha to see their heroes and shouted the slogan 'Ee sala cup namdu' (this year the cup is ours).
Mr. Siddaramaiah congratulated the RCB team for winning its maiden IPL title after a 17-year wait.
'I congratulate all the RCB team members, I also congratulate their fans. The whole country and the State is proud of them, RCB has never won the IPL. This is the eighteenth season, and they have won, and it has made me immensely happy,' Mr. Siddaramaiah said.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara, who oversaw the arrangements at the Secretariat, ensured tight security at the venue.
Earlier in the afternoon, the RCB team arrived in Bengaluru by a special flight. On landing at HAL airport, they were welcomed by Mr. Shivakumar. The team's most popular player, Virat Kohli, was welcomed with a Kannada flag at the airport.

Maharaja T20 Looking For Match Venues As Chinnaswamy Yet To Receive Clearance: Report
Last Updated: M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru hasn't cleared for Maharaja T20 because of an investigation. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru hasn't received clearance to host the Maharaja T20 tournament, with the Karnataka State Cricket Association now searching for venues to play the tournament at, as Chinnaswamy has been mired in controversy for almost two months now, according to a report in ESPNCricinfo. The Maharaja T20 is all set to take place from August 11 to 27 and the KSCA needs to find venues with 10 days in hand. The police have withheld clearance because of the ongoing investigation into the June 4 stampede that occurred near the stadium during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL winning celebrations. An independent CID investigation into the incident, which left 11 dead and over 50 injured, is still underway. The KSCA is now exploring alternative venues, including its facility in Alur on the outskirts of Bengaluru, as well as the Wadeyar Ground in Mysuru. Although Alur boasts excellent drainage and infrastructure, the lack of floodlights poses a significant challenge for broadcasters. According to the report, Alur is all set to host the group games of the six-day women's T20 competition, the Maharani T20, from August 4. The Karnataka State Cricket Association had been considering hosting the women's final at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, but that now appears uncertain as police approval is still pending. As the Karnataka State Cricket Association contends with the prospect of a last-minute venue change, teams have expressed frustration over the financial losses they now stand to incur. Teams had already booked hotels for players and staff based on the assumption that the entire Maharaja T20 would take place in central Bengaluru. Bengaluru is all set to host the opening game of the Women's ODI World Cup, along with one semifinal and the final which has put the state association in massive thought over the pending police case. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Markram Picks 2 SA Youngsters As 'Proper X-Factor' Ahead Of AUS, ENG Tours
Last Updated: Aiden Markram urges young batsmen Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis to seize opportunities in tours to Australia and England, prepping for the 2026 T20 World Cup. South Africa's T20 captain, Aiden Markram, is keen for the team's young batsmen to seize the opportunity during upcoming limited-overs tours to Australia and England over the next eight weeks. This is a chance for them to further their careers and showcase their international potential. South Africa has high expectations for Lhuan-dre Pretorius, a powerful teenage hitter, and Dewald Brevis, a prolific 22-year-old run-scorer who first appeared in the Indian Premier League three years ago. These tours are part of their preparation for next year's T20 World Cup. 'The last thing you want to do is to clip their wings. You sort of want to let them fly and let them do their thing," Markram said in a virtual press conference on Friday as South Africa prepared to leave for Australia. The team will play three T20 internationals in Darwin and Cairns later this month. 'I think we've seen on various stages around the world now that they are proper X-factor players and that they have taken to international cricket quite easily," he continued. 'So, I don't know if I have too much advice for them, besides the fact that they must keep taking the game on and not be scared of disappointments or failures. 'It's been great to see their progress. They're going to play a massive role moving forward in cricket in South Africa and that's the thing that we're quite excited about," Markram added. Both players are included in the squad for three One Day Internationals against Australia following the T20 series. South Africa will then head to England early next month for three ODIs and three T20s. 'For us as a team it'll be about fine tuning a lot of things and preparing for that T20 World Cup, so a great opportunity in Australia and then followed by England and if we can get closer towards another trophy, that'll be good," Markram told reporters. South Africa finished as runners-up in the last T20 World Cup in the West Indies a year ago, and Markram was the hero of their World Test Championship win over Australia in June. The next T20 World Cup will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in early 2026. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Lalit Modi, former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner, shared photos of him with Mallya and others at the stadium. West Indies batsman Chris Gayle, Farokh Engineer, and others also featured in the images shared by Lalit Modi. Enjoying the day at the oval with my friends @thevijaymallya rima and Farouk engineer and rod bransgrove — Lalit Kumar Modi (@LalitKModi) August 1, 2025 In the post with the photos with Vijay Mallya, he wrote, 'At the oval with @TheVijayMallya #universeboss #chrisgayle." One detail that caught the netizens' attention was Lalit Modi's tie, which had the IPL logo on its tip. Last month, Lalit Modi hosted an annual summer party in London with his 310 friends and family, and one of the attendees was Mallya. The highlight of the celebrations was Modi and Mallya singing 'I Did It My Way' by Frank Sinatra on karaoke. Lalit Modi, who previously served as the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is accused of alleged bid-rigging, money laundering, and violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA). He left India in 2010 while under investigation for alleged financial misconduct, including unauthorised fund transfers. On the other hand, Mallya is an accused in a bank loan default case of over Rs 9,000 crore from an SBI-led consortium, involving his defunct Kingfisher Airlines. Mallya left for the UK in 2016 and was declared a fugitive in 2019. He has been living in the UK since then. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
