Michael Conlan confirms next fight as he lines up clash with former British champion

The Belfast man made his return to the ring in March when he defeated Asad Asif Khan in Brighton following a 16-month absence after back-to-back defeats to Luis Alberto Lopez and Jordan Gill in 2023.
It was expected that Conlan would fight Cristobal Lorente for the Spaniard's European title, but he has instead taken on a fight with fellow countryman Ruben Gil this weekend.
That means Bateson will be the man in his way instead, the Leeds man boasting a record of 20 wins, one draw and just one defeat, although he hasn't fought since December when he drew with Danny Quartermaine after a clash of heads left both men cut and the fight stopped in the second round.
Conlan is looking to work his way back into world title contention after his last two deciders, against Leigh Wood in March 2022 and Lopez in May 2023, ended in defeat.
This will be the 33-year-old's first fight in Dublin of his career, with the former Olympic bronze medallist hoping this will be the latest step on his way back to the top of the sport.

That makes him hard to shift unless the club sponsor another loan deal. Neto became surplus to requirements at Arsenal after they went big and signed former Chelsea man Kepa Arrizabalagathis summer. The Spanish goalkeeper was ironically the first choice at Bournemouth last season, where he impressed massively and nearly helped the Cherries qualify for European football. Advertisement His form meant Arsenal were happy to spend £5million on him, as Bournemouth were just unable to match his wages. He's now taken Neto's place as Raya's back-up in Mikel Arteta's side as they go in search of a Premier League title next season. During his time at the Emirates, Neto only made one appearance for the Gunners, and with sweeping changes coming at the Emirates, he was one of the casualties. Carlos Alcaraz's stunning net worth, Emma Raducanu hotel visit and 'love triangle' rumours

Carlos Alcaraz's stunning net worth, Emma Raducanu hotel visit and 'love triangle' rumours World number two Carlos Alcaraz faces number one-ranked star Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon today Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu (Image: Max Cisotti/for evian ) Carlos Alcaraz is in yet another Grand Slam final today where he will take on the world's top-ranked tennis player Jannik Sinner. These two are really building up a rivalry for the ages, with a new era of the sport emerging from the shadows of retired greats Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and veteran Novak Djokovic. ‌ At 38, the Serb is now very much in the twilight of his career but he sees a great future for the sport in Spaniard Alcaraz and Italian Sinner. ‌ "They're definitely great for tennis, both of them," he said earlier this summer. "I think their rivalry is something that our sport needs, no doubt. "The way they are playing and approaching tennis life, I think they are going to have very successful careers in the next years." Alcaraz has been in the Wimbledon showpiece final before, of course. Article continues below He is a two-time champion already at the age of 22, and he also scooped the French Open at Roland Garros earlier this summer against Sinner in a match which will go down in tennis folklore. Alcaraz fought back to stun his opponent in Paris and will hope to do the same this afternoon. There is £3million on the line for the winner, and should Alcaraz claim the trophy that sum would go some way to boost his considerable net worth. ‌ He is reportedly now worth a cool £35million from his exploits on and off the court, with sponsorship deals including with kit maker Nike contributing to that pot, alongside tie-ups with Babolat, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and BMW. Away from the baseline, his personal life continues to make headlines, with rumours of a relations with Emma Raducanu ramping up significantly during Wimbledon fortnight. The pair are set to be doubles partners at the US Open later this year and Brit Raducanu has been spotted taking in a number of Alcaraz's games this summer. ‌ Alcaraz beamed at Queen's when asked about her: "I saw on social media she came up to watch my match. I'm just glad. "I mean, I was focused on the match. I didn't see her afterwards. I am just glad that she came to support me, to watch my match. Yeah, I think it was great having her in the stands." In June, they were reportedly seen arriving at the Kensington tournament "within minutes of each other", sparking speculation around the nature of their relationship. ‌ "Emma and Carlos' friendship was the talk of Queen's - people think there is something going on between them because they have such a spark,' a source told The Sun. "He was apparently seen at her hotel last week and on Thursday and Saturday, when Emma went to support him, Emma's car arrived just minutes after Carlos got to Queen's with his team. Inside they were seen laughing and joking with one another. They seem very happy and relaxed with each other." Raducanu herself said recently: "We're just good friends." Article continues below Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios then stirred the pot further, claiming the pair could part of a love triangle involving fellow Brit Jack Draper. "I don't know, I think it's a love triangle," Kyrgios told the reporters recently. "Draper, Alcaraz, Raducanu. They're fighting over Raducanu I think, I'm not sure. I think (on) the outside (she looks happy), I don't know who's making her happy." Alcaraz has also been linked with Spanish student Maria Gonzalez Gimenez, who hails from his hometown in Spain.

Jannik Sinner's huge net worth, kiss with A-lister's ex and major scandal

Jannik Sinner's huge net worth, kiss with A-lister's ex and major scandal Italian Jannik Sinner faces off against Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon today Jannik Sinner with his ex-girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya (Image:) Jannik Sinner, the world's number one tennis player, is in the final at Wimbledon this weekend where he will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. The two superstars of the sport are the posterboys of the new era of tennis, with the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic all now either retired or, in the latter's case, very much in the twilight of their career. ‌ Indeed, it was the Italian Sinner who put an end to 38-year-old Djokovic's crusade for one more record-breaking Wimbledon title, beating him convincingly in the semi-final in straight sets. ‌ Sinner and Alcaraz seem set for a long rivalry at the top of the game, with the pair meeting in an epic French Open last month, where Alacarz fought back from an almost impossible position to take the Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. Today they lock horns again and here we'll get to know Sinner a bit better off the court.... Net worth At just 23 years of age, Sinner's net worth is estimated to be around £22.2million. The Italian is the current number one-ranked player in the world and has won three Grand Slam titles to date - the 2024 Australian Open, the US Open in September 2024 and the 2025 Australian Open. Article continues below Wimbledon, so far, has eluded him. He will be out to change that on Sunday afternoon. He has a number of lucrative sponsorship and endorsement deals, including with Nike (worth a reported $150million across 10 years), Head, Rolex, Gucci and car maker Alfa Romeo, among others. Ban scandal One can't talk about Sinner without raising the fact he was banned from competing in the sport earlier this year for taking a banned substance. ‌ The Italian was suspended for two positive drug tests in March 2024, something he attributed to a member of his entourage. Sinner eventually came to a settlement with World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada), claiming his sample was inadvertently contaminated with clostebol, a banned substance, by his physio. The governing body accepted his reasoning, albeit adding 'the athlete bears responsibility for the entourage's negligence'. "In the end, you have to choose the lesser evil and I believe that is what I have done. Even if sometimes it seems a bit unfair, all that I'm living, but then if I look at things from a different perspective it could have been worse. Even more unfairness. This is the way it is," Sinner told Sky Italy earlier this year. ‌ He served a three-month suspension, much to the frustration of his fellow pros, including Djokovic. Love life As ever with sports stars at the top of their games, there is a lot of interest in Sinner's romantic affairs away from the court. Earlier this year, the Italian was spotted sharing a kiss with the ex-girlfriend of Hollywood A-lister Adrien Brody. ‌ Italian publication Chi magazine captured images of Sinner with 31-year-old Russian model Lara Leito at the Monte Carlo Country Club. She was previously in a six-year relationship with Brody and has also been linked to French actor Olivier Martinez. This came after his partnership with fellow tennis player Anna Kalinskaya, with whom he split in November, following a seven-month romance. Article continues below Sinner confirmed earlier this year that he is currently single, but in recent times he has been linked with model Laila Hasanovic.
