Sabrina Carpenter Pokes Fun At Album Cover Backlash As She Unveils Alternate Artwork
Sabrina Carpenter has made light of the recent controversy of which she recently found herself at the centre thanks to her latest album cover.
Earlier this month, the chart-topping star announced she had a new album titled Man's Best Friend coming later this year, and sparked plenty of debate when she unveiled its provocative artwork.
In keeping with the title of the album, the Grammy winner could be seen in the photo on her knees in front of an unidentified, presumably male figure, who was gripping part of her hair, while she faced out towards the camera.
The picture led to a whole lot of debate, with some suggesting the Manchild singer was making light of the way she's been portrayed in the media in the past, and others claiming that there was a danger of this message getting lost in the mix, especially in the current political and social climate.

While Sabrina has so far remained tight-lipped about the furore, she did allude to it on Wednesday when she announced her new album's alternate cover art.
'I signed some copies of Man's Best Friend for you guys,' she wrote in a social media post. 'And here is a new alternate cover approved by God available now on my website.'

Man's Best Friend is due for release in August, less than a week after the anniversary of Sabrina's last album, Short N' Sweet, which spawned the number one singles Espresso, Please Please Please and Taste, as well as hits like Juno and Bed Chem.
The album was trailed by the lead single Manchild, which became the latest number one for Sabrina on both sides of the Atlantic upon its release earlier in June.
Manchild has already been picked apart by pop fans, many of whom felt it may have been inspired by one of Sabrina's A-list exes, which the woman herself recently made a joke about during an interview with Rolling Stone.

A cannabis dispensary might seem like an unlikely place to play mahjong, the Chinese tile game typically associated with older Asian and Jewish adults, but that's where Leah Flacco showed up on a recent Wednesday evening in Manhattan. The game has grown in popularity with younger generations, so at a table inside Alta Dispensary in NoLIta, Ms. Flacco, 36, shuffled and matched groups of tiles among friends and strangers. The event was one of a growing number taking place at New York's cannabis dispensaries, where retailers have been making space for people to socialize. 'We want more dispensaries to do these sorts of things,' Ms. Flacco, who works in financial technology, said. 'It's hard to make friends in this city.' From intimate classes to block parties, hosting events has given dispensaries in New York a way around rules limiting their ability to market their businesses. As many Americans choose to drink less alcohol and seek connection offline, the activities allow the sellers to offer places where people can gather. Dispensary owners also hope that some of the visitors will become customers and that the events will help their businesses gain acceptance among neighbors who might still hold negative views of cannabis. Meredith Nydam, 37, said she had invited her friends, including Ms. Flacco, to mahjong night because she wanted to do something other than a happy hour. 'I don't need to go to a bar,' Ms. Nydam said. Earlier this month, the director of F1: The Movie, Joseph Kosinski, sparked backlash after confirming that Simone Ashley's role had been drastically cut from the final edit. For context, news broke last July that Simone had been cast in the Formula 1 movie, which stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. Brad plays veteran driver Sonny Hayes, who comes out of retirement to race rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Damson. The film will be released in theaters this week.
