Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has launched a new summer spa day experience at 16 of its spa locations across the UK, which includes a 55-minute ELEMIS 'Couture Touch' Spa Treatment
For those seeking a spa retreat that won't empty the wallet, a luxurious staycation could be just what the doctor ordered. With Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, individuals in need of some self-care can indulge in an opulent spa stay for less this summer.
The company's new Timeless Summer Spa Day is on offer at 16 of its spa locations across the UK, making it possible to venture far or stay local for that much-needed relaxing break.
Imagine a delightful hotel tucked away in the most picturesque corners of the UK, brimming with everything required to disconnect, unwind, and recharge from hectic lives filled with work, family, and the everyday pressures of modern life.
This day of pampering includes a lavish 55-minute ELEMIS 'Couture Touch' Spa Treatment, which pairs a custom facial with a deep-tissue massage.
A comprehensive skin consultation is also part of the package, along with expert skincare advice to help maintain that post-spa glow.
The spa experience doesn't have to conclude when the day ends, as the special gift of the ELEMIS Refine and Rebalance Kit in a chic wash bag, valued at £101, allows the rejuvenation and relaxation to carry on at home.
The gift bag contains the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF30, ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash and Facial Pads, and ELEMIS Ultra Smart Pro-Collagen Complex Serum, all neatly packed in a lovely wash bag that guests can use over and over again.
As previously noted, all 16 spa locations under the Macdonald Hotels and Resorts banner are offering this experience. Among these is the Bath Spa Hotel in Bath, a stunning historic site nestled in a tranquil corner of Bath, complete with landscaped gardens and 2AA Rosette dining, where visitors can immerse themselves in the ambiance of this Roman spa town, reports the Mirror.
For those seeking a retreat into the wilderness, the Forest Hills resort in Scotland's Trossachs National Park is an excellent choice. Encircled by shimmering lochs, majestic mountains and breathtaking landscapes, it provides the perfect setting to escape from the everyday and savour the natural beauty of Scotland.
While there's an array of other locations to select from, Macdonald Hotels and Resorts isn't the sole provider of spa services. For instance, Center Parcs offers its Aqua Sana Forest Spas, delivering nature-inspired spa experiences amidst forest surroundings.
Guests have the option to visit for the day to utilise the spa amenities, or extend their stay to an overnight break encompassing two full days of luxurious relaxation.
Additionally, Wowcher presents a host of spa day deals, such as this package for two at the 4* Cambridge Belfry Spa, inclusive of breakfast, dining credit, and health club access over a one- or two-night stay.
However, Macdonald Hotels and Resorts boast numerous positive reviews on TripAdvisor. A guest at Bath Spa Hotel praised: "My massage was amazing... The spa facilities were great, as it was sunny we loved having lots of space in the outdoor lounge area. The pool temperature was hot. So nice."
Another visitor remarked on their stay at the same hotel: "The hotel is beautiful and very well maintained, our rooms were bright, airy and very clean, the bed was also extremely comfy. The food was delicious and the staff throughout the hotel were so friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel so welcome. They were all exceptional. You can walk into the city centre from the hotel as well which is a bonus."
There were some mixed feelings as well, with one guest noting: "After getting changed we went to the pool areas which were clean but inside did lack seating for everyone but luckily it was a sunny day so we sat outside. Both pools were clean and lovely, heated outdoor pool was a nice touch."
A Trossachs resort patron shared their experience: "The spa was great. The massage was really good, Caroline was kneading bread with my muscles, amazing. The room was excellent, the bed very comfy and the service was great too. I'll definitely come back if I have the chance."

Scotland to Europe ferry continues to face delays

No further progress has been made since it was announced in January that the Rosyth to Dunkirk ferry was expected to be delayed until spring 2026. The National reported at the time that this was due to issues with border control in Rosyth and continued funding delays. And now, DFDS, the ferry operator planning the route, has confirmed that no progress has been made since then. READ MORE: 'Long overdue': Scotland reacts as UK voting aged lowered to 16 French outlet Connexion reports that the Rosyth port requires an upgrade before the service can launch. DFDS has already asked the Scottish Government for grants to cover the cost of installing passenger-handling facilities and customs-related equipment at Rosyth. A spokesperson for DFDS told Connexion: Given the time that it will take to get the service up and running, that means I do not see the service starting this summer." Earlier this month, Scotland Office minister Kirsty McNeill said discussions set to take place in the coming weeks. She told Parliament on July 2: "My officials are in touch with the company behind the new proposed new route and relevant Scottish Government and DEFRA officials are looking at arranging a meeting as early as next week to look at possible solutions that would allow this project to go ahead." READ MORE: 'Disturbed': MP hits out after armed police threaten peaceful pro-Palestine protester The Scottish Government has previously said that it supports the development of Scotland's ports and the potential for new passenger ferry services linking it to mainland Europe. DFDS reportedly has a ship for the route, while Dunkirk port has said it is fully ready for the service to begin. The route is expected to run three weekly return sailings. Once operational, it is estimated that around 80,000 passengers will use the service each year.

UK tourists in Majorca issued chilling 'warning' which 'cannot wait any longer'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info British holidaymakers have been hit with a stern warning as anti-tourist sentiment surges in the Balearic Islands, particularly affecting Majorca. The island has seen an upsurge in protests against tourism, with a stark message being broadcasted to UK visitors. In Majorca, the Arran Mallorca movement, part of the youth wing of the pro-Catalan independence Arran Jovent, has released a video that delivers a direct message: "With tourism, locals are losing out. Young people: get organised." Affiliated with a leftist Catalan independence party, the Arran movement is calling for action, stating: "It is no longer enough to just talk about limiting population while the Majorcan society continues to grow, it needs to decrease now and we cannot wait any longer." They also expressed their dissatisfaction with the commercialisation of their home, saying, "We are not proud that our island has been sold to Escarrer, Barcelo or Fluxa," referencing prominent hoteliers Gabriel Escarrer, Simón Pedro Barceló, and Miguel Fluxà. With mounting frustration, the group declared: "We are fed up and ready to face it! The political class is responsible for our misery. They have put economic interests above our lives and have given Majorca away to private capital. With tourism, local are losing out. Young people: get organised," reports Birmingham Live. On X, which has taken over from Twitter, Arran Mallorca captioned their campaign video with a decisive call to action: "We demand change, we demand decrease!" They added further criticism: "We young women are being pushed into poverty while hoteliers are making a fortune thanks to the political class. "We are fed up with our land being commercialised, while the working class is always the one who suffers the most." Spain, which holds the title of the world's second-most favoured tourist hotspot after France, has clocked a record-breaking 21.8 million international visitors last summer, eclipsing previous tallies and coinciding with widespread anti-tourism demonstrations. This spike represents a 7.3% uptick on 2023 figures, as reported by the national statistics body INE. In the peak month of July alone, Spain played host to an astonishing 10.9 million tourists, a number matched by August's influx, underlining the magnitude of tourism drawn by this Iberian nation, INE detailed.

The Cornish hotel overlooking a Georgian harbour and it's right by the beach

THE newly refurbished Pier House is posted in a listed building brimming with character. With its prime seafront location, it's a great spot to explore the Cornish coast. 6 6 Here's everything you need to know about what to eat at the restaurant, what to get up to during your stay, and how much the rooms cost. Where is the Pier House Hotel? The hotel is in Charlestown, Cornwall. The town has a historically rich Georgian harbour. Many of the rooms provide a coastal view onlooking the famed tall ships that have appeared in Poldark and other television series. The inn is located just a 7 minute drive from St. Austell train station, and a short walk away from the town centre. What is the hotel like? This luxurious guest house with a stellar restaurant is in a pretty Cornish village. The interior has the same rustic coastal vibes as the exterior. It's full of nautical colour schemes and maritime decor with a contemporary twist, and many of the rooms have seaside views. What are the rooms like? We stayed in Room 20, which offered views over the harbour and sea. It is the biggest boudoir with a dressing area upstairs, alongside a huge bathroom full of Elemis products. 6 6 The air-conditioned room had dry robes and a beach bag which proved handy for a picnic on the beach. The inn provides 4 types of room including the Superior Sea View rooms, the Harbor View room, the Classic room and the Classic Cabin. What is there to eat and drink there? When we arrived, we grabbed a coffee and sat on the terrace - a wonderful sun spot and a great place for people-watching. Dinner is served in the restaurant and the menu is extensive. Starters included rose harissa hummus and goats' cheese parfait. Choices for the main event were dressed crab, fish and chips and honey-glazed pork belly. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the restaurant had a laid-back vibe. The kids' menu was good too, and my daughter was particularly happy with her ice cream sundae. 6 What else is there to do at the hotel? The Pier House re-opened in June after a fire destroyed much of the building. It has been beautifully restored. We made the most of our time on the beach, wandering around the harbour and checking out the gift shops. The Eden Project is three miles away and the Lost Gardens of Heligan near Mevagissey is a brilliant family-friendly day out. The Pier House is found along the South West Coast path, making it a great spot for an active break. Is the hotel family friendly? Yes, the hotel is marketed as family friendly, with the request that children be under supervision of an adult at all times. The Inn is also dog friendly, welcoming well behaved dogs into select rooms with an extra charge of £15 per night. They ask that you get in contact before booking to confirm you will be assigned the correct room. How much are the rooms? Double rooms start at £135 per night including breakfast. Book here. Is there access for guests with disabilities? Most rooms must be accessed by a significant number of steps, however if you wish to speak to the hotel about accessibility, they suggest you get in contact. Looking for a place to stay?
