Parliament Monsoon Session Live: Lok Sabha braces for Op Sindoor debate, Rajnath Singh to speak at noon

India Today28-07-2025
As the Lok Sabha took up the Operation Sindoor debate on Monday, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said the discussion must distinguish between two separate issues — the success of the Armed Forces and the recurrence of terror incidents under the BJP-led government.
"Firstly, one has to accept that there are two separate issues. Firstly, we congratulate the Armed Forces for their bravery and valour during Operation Sindoor. If they had got a chance, they might have even taken POK. Before the Pahalgam attack, there was another incident that the public has not yet been informed about. The question is - why are terrorist incidents happening again and again under the BJP government? Where did the Pahalgam terrorists go? The government should answer where these terrorists went?" he said while speaking to reporters outside Parliament.
Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Monday called for a non-partisan approach to the Operation Sindoor debate in Parliament, urging both the ruling alliance and the Opposition to set aside political differences during the discussion.
"The discussion on 'Operation Sindoor' starting in Parliament today should be approached by both the ruling party and the opposition by rising above partisan politics," Mayawati posted on X in Hindi.
"Going forward, the government and the opposition should work together under a solid strategy to ensure that no woman's sindoor is wiped away and no mother has to lose her son; this is also the demand of the time," the BSP chief added in the same post.
As the Lok Sabha prepares for a debate on Operation Sindoor on Monday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju took to social media with a sharply worded remark signalling the government's strong stance against cross-border terrorism.
"The discussion on #OperationSindoor begins today," Rijiju wrote, adding, "When Ravan crossed the Laxman Rekha, Lanka burned. When Pakistan crossed the red lines drawn by India, terrorist camps faced fire!"
As the Lok Sabha gears up for a debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat on Monday questioned the Centre's handling of national security and accused it of delaying a serious discussion on the matter.
"We hope that the government adopts a positive attitude... National security, security of citizens, foreign policy and Pakistan's policy of nurturing terrorism will be discussed in detail... It took the government 90 days to hold a discussion on this... If someone is criticising the government... then they should take it in a very positive manner. We hope the government will not show any bias in this," Bhagat said while speaking to news agency ANI.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is unlikely to participate in the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor today. MPs keen on speaking during key debates are required to route their requests through the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) office. As of now, Tharoor has not submitted any such request, party sources said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to open the debate on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha around noon today, leading the government's response on the high-stakes issue, news agency ANI reported.
Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are expected to lead the government's charge in the Lok Sabha as the House prepares for a high-voltage debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor starting Monday, sources told India Today TV.
They also indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may intervene to articulate the government's 'robust' stand on terrorism. The debate marks a shift from the disruptions that plagued the first week of the Monsoon session, with both the ruling NDA and the Opposition bracing for a heated face-off on national security.
The Congress has issued a three-day whip to its Lok Sabha MPs, directing them to be present in the House from Monday as a debate looms over the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. The party is preparing to take on the government over the two high-stakes security issues, both carrying significant national and foreign policy implications.

India's big rebuke to Pakistan and China, both countries not invited to global event to be held in Delhi, event is..., will feature 120...

New Delhi: Things are not the same between the Indian Army and the Pakistan Army since the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the ensuing Operation Sindoor. During the operation, China provided full support to Pakistan. What is UN Troop Contributor Chief Conclave? As a result of these two incidents, India will not be inviting the Pakistan Army to the United Nations (UN) Troop Contributor Chief Conclave, scheduled to take place in October this year in New Delhi. According to sources, China's PLA is also not invited. The United Nations (UN) Troop Contributor Chief Conclave will include an integrated firepower demonstration on the third day at the Pokhran Field Firing Range near the India-Pakistan border. It will be a four-day event. What is the UN Peacekeeping Mission? In this conference, the Indian Army is going to invite the heads of the armies of those countries that send their soldiers to the UN Peacekeeping Mission. At present, a total of 11 missions of the United Nations are going on across the world. Armies from about 120 countries are participating in these missions. Most of the soldiers currently deployed in the UN Peacekeeping Mission are from India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. What is special about this year's UN Conclave? For the first time, the Indian Army is going to organise such a UN Conclave. But Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir has not been invited for this very special conference. Asim Munir is said to be the mastermind of the Pahalgam massacre carried out by the Pakistani terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba's offshoot, TRF (The Resistance Force). Indian Army's current deployment At present, about five thousand (5000) soldiers of the Indian Army are deployed in 9 out of 11 missions of the United Nations. The Indian Army is deployed from civil war-torn Sudan and Congo to the disputed Golan Heights between Israel-Syria-Lebanon. Many times, soldiers of India and Pakistan are deployed together in these missions. But after the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Army has decided to completely sever ties with the Pakistani Army.

Long-range precision hits had psychological impact on Pakistan: CDS

NEW DELHI: Long-range precision strikes during the cross-border hostilities in May caused "a huge psychological impact" in Pakistan, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan said on Tuesday, reiterating that Operation Sindoor had not yet been called off. The CDS emphasised the need to adapt swiftly to disruptive technologies, rethink legacy structures and prioritise synergy across the Army, Navy and IAF to tackle the challenges emanating from the constantly evolving nature of warfare. "War and politics are closely related. Wars are often fought to achieve political purposes. Today, we see very short, precise wars - like in Operation Sindoor - where political goals are achieved through rapid and targeted action," the CDS said at the inaugural edition of the Annual Trident Lecture Series organised by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies. Noting that "domination" through impact and effect is the new norm, the CDS said Operation Sindoor was not undertaken to capture territory or prisoners of war. "There were very long-range precision strikes (at selected targets). The impact was important. Physical was less, but the psychological impact was much more. (India) could hit very, very deep inside with precision," he said. "It created a huge impact psychologically, displaying sophistication and superiority. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo This is the matrix of victory today, it has nothing to do with territory. This is how domination is changing," he added. In keeping with the "new norms" laid down by the govt, the CDS said the Indian armed forces need to maintain "a very high order" of operational preparedness around-the-clock. Cross-border terrorism will get the appropriate response from India and terrorists can no longer find safe haven within Pakistan, he said.

Gandhi makes childish and unsubstantiated comments about Indian territory and security, and the court has served him a lesson, Modi said. Praising Modi for Operation Sindoor , NDA resolution said, "The NDA Parliamentary Party lauds the exceptional leadership displayed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during these times. His unwavering resolve, visionary statesmanship and resolute command have not only steered the nation with purpose but also ignited a renewed spirit of unity and pride in the hearts of all Indians."
