It is going to be a Tyla-less matric dance for Mollwane Madiba.
Madiba, son of Princess Tirelo Molotlegi of the Royal Bafokeng Nation, is set for his much-anticipated matric dance today, June 27. However, his dream date, Grammy Award-winning singer Tyla, will unfortunately not be present.
It has been months of endless creativity and determination, despite his creative efforts to woo her, including multiple viral TikTok challenges and support from 5FM, Tyla's absence is now a reality.
Madiba's journey began in January when he and his friends took to TikTok to help the student ask Tyla to be his matric dance date.
Showcasing his school spirit and dedication to the singer, he gathered his schoolmates to create a visually stunning TikTok video, showcasing their school spirit, support for Mollwane, and his devotion to the 'Push 2 Start' hitmaker.
The first video, which was the most popular, featured students asking, 'Who do you think Mollwane is taking to MD?' followed by all of them answering 'Tyla, obviously' since it's well known that Madiba is one of Tyla's biggest fans.
His videos garnered significant attention, with over 200 000 likes and 3 000 comments, as fans and fellow students rallied behind him.
To assist him, 5FM's Jodell Tantji jumped on board and went on a mission with his co-hosts to help Madiba get the 23-year-old global star to be his matric dance date. A lot transpired, and necessary people were contacted.
Tantji contacted Tyla's manager and her brother, Tyrese Seethal, but these efforts were met with a dead end.
In a recent TikTok video, Madiba informed everyone who supported his quest that Tyla would not be attending as his date and thanked them for rallying behind him since the inception of his idea.
'Unfortunately, Tyla cannot make it, but I'd like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for all the support and all the videos. It's been six months, and we have been pushing since the 18th of January when my friends made that post,' said Madiba.
He adds that the journey has been interesting and fun, and that he will still have fun with his friends despite Tyla not being present at his matric dance.
Many supporters, including Madiba, were hopeful that she would attend, but given her global superstar status, it is understandable that her schedule just wouldn't allow for it.
However, Madiba's creative campaign has definitely made him a star. His dedication and passion for the singer have made a lot of people proud, and his name is now synonymous with determination and creativity.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the former 'Muvhango' actress has been updating her fans on her recovery journey since she underwent the procedure. A screenshot of Simphiwe Ngema's recovery from her surgery wearing compression garments, which help with the post-op healing journey. Image: Instagram stories On Monday, June 30, she shared: 'Day 4 of recovery: I'm feeling so much better. 3 of my drains are empty since yesterday. There's only one drain that had to be emptied. Still a little uncomfortable. 'You know when you've slept on your arm for a long time and it feels numb? That's what my tummy feels like. My boobs are fine. I'm starting to feel a bit of sensation on my nipples." A screenshot of Simphiwe Ngema opening up about her healing process. Image: Instagram stories The mother of two, accompanied by her mother, Ethel Ngema, has also been sharing some of her pictures wearing compression garments, which help the healing process after the procedure. Celebs/ influencers who have done cosmetic procedures: For the past few years, the rise of plastic surgery among local celebrities has been significant, as many have been showing their post-op journey on social media. Khanyi Mbau got a facelift, Shamiso Mosaka and Thuli Phongolo did a BBL, Amanda du Pont had a breast augmentation, Cyan Boujee did a breast lift, BBL and gastric sleeve. While Gogo Skhotheni had a tummy tuck, liposuction and filled her hip dips, Jojo Robinson underwent 11 surgeries, including a facelift, necklift, tummy tuck, four breast augmentations and many more procedures. Where do celebs/ influencers go under the knife? The go-to location for these surgeries is usually Turkey for many influencers and celebrities; only a few have had their procedures locally. According to an article by "Independent Media Lifestyle', the rise of plastic surgeries among influencers or celebrities is because it is deemed a cheaper alternative, and these international clinics also offer discounts. However, a cheaper alternative comes at a cost since some of these celebrities and influencers end up with botched surgeries, which lead to yet another surgery and more money.

Makhadzi opens up about assault, urging a critical dialogue on domestic violence in South Africa

Award winning musician Makhadzi has opened up about suffering gender based violence at the hands of her lover. Image: Instagram In a heart-wrenching revelation that has rippled through South Africa, Makhadzi (real name Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona) has opened up about her traumatic experiences with gender-based violence. On June 25, the award-winning artist took to Facebook to share a deeply personal account of assault at the hands of her boyfriend, shocking many fans and prompting important discussions about the pervasive issue of domestic violence in the country. In a now-deleted series of posts, Makhadzi shared graphic images of her injuries, underscoring the severity of the situation. "I was beaten like a chicken on Christmas Day. I will tell my story. Just know that my album, #OneWomanStanding, is coming. And it might be my last because they'll kill me the moment I expose them," she expressed, adding that her upcoming album contains secrets she feels compelled to disclose due to her love for music. "Just say RIP now, because I know I'm revealing a lot, I'm digging my own grave,' she warned, indicating the gravity of her situation. Makhadzi's posts also hinted at the reluctance of society to empathise with victims of such violence. "Whatever I posted is not a mistake. I just deleted some pictures to avoid being blocked by Facebook. I will go live today at 18:00 to explain the story. I know a lot of people will judge me, but I have made my mind up about that," she continued. "As I am talking, I don't know if I must stand or sit because of how I was beaten," she shared. She added, 'I am here ready without fear, ready to die because living with a secret that someone nearly killed me hits me more than anything. He beat me to impress his family.' She also claimed there was a woman present during her assault who laughed while she endured the violence. Video Player is loading. Makhadzi's recent dating history has been fraught with public interest, having previously been in relationships with prominent figures such as Master KG and Zwivhuya Nelwamondo. Speculation about a reconciliation with Master KG has emerged, yet Makhadzi has not disclosed which partner is implicated in her allegations of abuse. The courageous decision to reveal her experience sheds light on the broader issue of gender-based violence, a crisis in South Africa that has garnered significant attention in recent years. Makhadzi's candidness may inspire other victims to break their silence, igniting an essential dialogue about the need for support and change in societal attitudes towards such violence.

Watch: Reality TV star tears up in Facebook video during eviction drama

Chaos erupted on Facebook as Pastors' Wives reality television star Nandipha Mlombi, popularly known as Queen Nandi, went live, in tears, claiming she was being forcibly removed from her rented Lonehill home, while her children were locked inside. Read more: Human rights need to come first in evictions In the video, which is now circulating online, Queen Nandi alleged that she paid her rent, but was being evicted by 'thugs' allegedly sent by the landlord. She said she unknowingly rented the property from a woman who allegedly hijacked the building. 'I didn't know. She said it was her house, and now, because she's hijacking the building, she's got thugs to come take out my furniture. 'Now, they've locked me out of this house, while some of my stuff is in there, including my children. My children are in there with thugs.' Nandipha can be heard throughout the live broadcast repeatedly calling for help, pleading for the intervention of the police. 'We've been calling cops to no avail and my children are being held hostage.' The alleged landlord, Vuyiseka Mfeqeka, known as 'Sis Vee', countered Nandipha's claims, stating that Nandipha had rented the house specifically to shoot her reality show for eight weeks and that the agreed period had expired. She also responded to Queen Nandi in a live Facebook video, which is also doing the rounds on social media. 'She was supposed to be out on June 7, but she doesn't want to leave. 'We even had the police involved. We have been going to the police station, but she won't leave.' Sis Vee also clarified that she didn't hijack the building. She owns the property.
