Love magazine relaunches after five-year hiatus with new creative directors
Part of the Paris-based agency, Convoy, Costa Paz and Benotmane will lead an international editorial team at Love, whose rebrand promises to offer a "distinct perspective that steps outside the Anglo-American fashion axis, rooted in European culture, but engaged with a global creative community," according to a press release.
In addition to the magazine's fashion bread and butter, the luxury publication will also spotlight emerging technologies, health, identity, politics, art, film, and travel.
'I've lived in Paris for over twelve years, and the city has shaped the way I see the world. With Love, I want to reflect that generosity back - to spotlight a new generation in France that's self-aware, culturally engaged, and globally connected. There's a youth here exploring its identity while staying closely attuned to what's happening elsewhere -in Lagos, Seoul, Buenos Aires," said Costa Paz, who spent three years as global creative director at Vogue, where he shaped the creative direction of the fashion bible worldwide.
"This is a year for fashion to look beyond itself - to step outside the echo chamber and move forward by engaging with new cultural spaces. Our goal is to make Love a platform where those perspectives meet, collide, and spark something meaningful.'
Love will be published in both print and online, and will also serve as a platform for events, conversations, and cultural programming, as part of its relaunch.
Distribution will be global with a focus on key cities such as New York, Paris, Milan, London, and Los Angeles.
'The most exciting creativity happens through exchange - when different worlds, disciplines, and perspectives collide. Love is designed to host and celebrate that kind of energy," added Benotmane.
Love magazine was founded in 2009 by UK stylist and fashion journalist Katie Grand.
Grand left the Condé Nast -owned title in 2020, revealing at the time, "The world has changed, and I have changed, and what is important is now so clear. Telling beautiful and important stories will never change. But it's time for something new, it's time for something different."

Beyoncé's unreleased music stolen during 'Cowboy Carter' tour
Hard drives containing unreleased music from Beyoncé have reportedly been stolen out of a rental car at the singer's Cowboy Carter tour in Atlanta. Local authorities received reports of theft from a vehicle on 8 July – two days before the first of her four concerts in the city. The vehicle in question was rented by Beyoncé's choreographer Christopher Grant, who had arrived in Atlanta early to prep for the singer's mini-residency. Along with the unreleased music on five thumb drives were footage, show plans and concert set lists. Two MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, as well as luxury clothing and accessories were also reported stolen. The Atlanta Police Department said in a news release on Monday it has secured an arrest warrant for a suspect whose identity was withheld. Beyoncé kicked off her tour in late April, taking her Grammy-winning album 'Cowboy Carter' to stadiums in the US and Europe. Her record-breaking album made our Best Albums of 2024 list, in which we said: "Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' lassos American country music's stale stereotypes in a powerful reclamation of the genre's Black roots. (...) Take a first look at the new Harry Potter
HBO has officially started production on the highly anticipated yet controversial Harry Potter TV series adaptation and has revealed a first look at the titular character. The photo released by HBO shows 11-year-old Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, donning the signature Hogwarts uniform paired with round-rim glasses and a lightning bolt scar. The network announced in late May that McLaughlin was cast as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Several high-profile actors have been announced in other key roles, including Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley. A new round of actors were announced yesterday, including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. The show began production at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, and is expected to debut in 2027. Rap superstar Kendrick Lamar to get his very own university course
Rap's reigning champion Kendrick Lamar is currently on tour in Europe with SZA for their joint Grand National tour, which lands in Paris today before heading off to the UK, Spain, Italy and Poland. For any American fans who failed to get a ticket for the US leg of the tour, there's a recent piece of news that might come as some comfort – one which will need them to head back to university. Indeed, Kendrick Lamar's cultural legacy is set to become the subject of a university course in the US. As reported by NBC10, Temple University in Philadelphia will offer a course in their Fall 2025 semester titled "Kendrick Lamar and the Morale of M.A.A.D City" - a reference to both his albums 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' and 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City'. The course will be available to all students. It will be overseen by Timothy Welbeck, a professor for the Department of Africology and African American Studies and the Director for the Center For Anti-Racism at Temple. Welbeck, who has previously run classes based on the work of Tupac Shakur, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, said: 'Kendrick Lamar is one of the defining voices of his generation and in many ways, both his art and life is reflective of the Black experience in many telling ways.' He went on to explain that he believes the rapper's 'journey towards self-actualization' is related to the Black experience. 'My current department chair was very open to the idea and received it almost immediately,' he added. 'In a lot of ways, our department at Temple specifically, and Temple more broadly, has embraced the study of hip-hop in academic spaces.' That's all very well and good, but what about any eventual branching out with regards to European university courses? Lamar is far from the first musician to have a university course centered around their work. The likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, Britney Spears and Taylor Swift have been the focus of uni courses in the US, while The Beatles and Bob Dylan are regular topics in various European universities. In 2022, the prestigious and highly-selective French school École Normale Supérieure (ENS) announced its students were going crazy in love with seminars on Beyoncé. Titled 'Beyoncé: nuances of a cultural icon,' the seminars aimed to reflect on the notions of culture and representativeness with a focus on the 'artistic orientation in a multidisciplinary way, through art history, contemporary literature, history and philosophy.' Similarly, the Belgian University of Ghent launched Europe's first Taylor Swift-inspired literature course in 2023, an elective course highlighting the themes, styles and techniques of famous historical literary writers like Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, and Margaret Atwood – all from the US pop superstar's perspective. While courses on celebrity musicians are rarer in Europe, there are other initiatives available, like last year's Taylor Swift course offered by Glasgow Clyde College (GCC) in Scotland, to better educate parents who were accompanying their children to the singer's record-breaking The Eras Tour. Kendrick Lamar and SZA's Grand National tour is in Europe until 9 August. The two stars then head to South America and Australia, where the tour ends on 10 December. Lamar's most recent album, 'GNX', made our Best Albums of 2024 list last year. In our review, we said: '('GNX') may not be his most ambitious release, but it's a more directly accessible and less conceptual collection of songs compared to 2022's 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' – more akin to 'DAMN.' in this sense. It's cinematic ('squabble up'), anthemic ('tv off'), lacerating ('wacced out murals'), slick ('luther', featuring SZA), and moving ('gloria'). The immediacy of the album doesn't mean that there isn't depth behind the bops, and Lamar's penmanship continues to be as precise and as ferocious than ever."
