OPEN// Egypt decries Israeli statements on imposing sovereignty over occupied West Bank
In a statement issued Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration reaffirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of these statements, describing them as flagrant violations of international law that seek to entrench the unlawful occupation of Palestinian territory and undermine the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, including the West Bank, Gaza Strip with Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as its capital.
Egypt reaffirmed its rejection of the ongoing and flagrant Israeli violations in the West Bank, including military incursions, arbitrary arrests, and the continued expansion of illegal settlements, which are taking place in parallel with the grave breaches occurring in the Gaza Strip, aimed at dismantling the very foundations of life for the steadfast Palestinian people.
Egypt urged the international community to take immediate and resolute action to halt these flagrant violations against the Palestinian people on their own land, the statement said.
It also stressed the urgent need for concerted international efforts to realize the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, topped by the establishment of an independent state on the entirety of their national territory. (MENA)

Gaza's oldest university shelters the displaced
Prior to Israel's genocidal war on the Gaza Strip that began in October 2023, the Islamic University welcomed thousands of students in eleven faculties, including medicine, engineering, liberal arts and information technology. Now, however, the campus shelters thousands of Palestinians displaced by the ongoing war. The university's main campus in Gaza City was bombed on October 9, 2023, just two days into Israel's war. Like the rest of Gaza's academic institutions, the university could no longer function, and suspended its activities. When it resumed coursework on a smaller scale in the second half of 2024, the university had to adopt distance learning, as its facilities were no longer equipped for in-person classes, and reconstruction wasn't an option with the ongoing war. For lack of viable options and due to the dire need, what remains of the university's buildings soon became shelter for the displaced. After thousands of displaced Palestinians returned from southern Gaza during the short-lived ceasefire of winter 2025, and with Occupation forces ordering residents to evacuate ever-larger swathes of territory, the university's ruins have now grown crowded with people fleeing the ongoing aggression. Today, the university houses families of multiple generations. Some include graduates of the university, such as Abdallah Khedr from the Jabalia refugee camp and who graduated in 2016 with a a degree in psychology, and now shelters in a lecture hall where he once attended classes. The displaced have pitched tents in the ruins of lecture halls, administrative buildings, the university library and the science labs, as well as the burnt-out shell of the auditorium. Tents fill the university's courtyards and sports field, sheltering those recently displaced by Israeli military operations in the neighboring area, while the entrances to faculty buildings have become a playground for displaced children. OPEN// Egypt, France FMs discuss efforts to stop Israeli aggression on Gaza, West Bank
CAIRO, July 3 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed during a phone call Thursday with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the West Bank. The call also addressed the latest regional developments and ways to strengthen the strategic relations between the two friendly countries, foreign ministry spokesman Tamim Khalaf said. The two ministers affirmed their joint commitment to enhancing all aspects of bilateral relations and elevating them to broader horizons, in light of the strategic partnership between the two countries, he added. According to Khalaf, Abdelatty discussed with his French counterpart the developments in the Gaza Strip, efforts aimed at resuming and sustaining Gaza ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid, referring to Egypt's aspiration to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza after reaching a ceasefire. The top diplomat emphasized the gravity of the situation in the West Bank amid continued military raids, arrests, and the expansion of illegal settlement construction, said the spokesman. Abdelatty also stressed the need to achieve a just and sustainable settlement of the Palestinian issue, through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, he added. The two sides agreed on the need for both Israel and Iran to commit to a ceasefire and for regional and international efforts to be combined to consolidate the de-escalation agreement and open the way for diplomatic efforts that would help achieve regional security and stability, the spokesman said. CAIRO, July 3 (MENA) - Egypt's Ambassador to Tunisia Bassem Hassan has discussed in a meeting with Tunisian Defense Minister Khaled Sehili ways of fostering bilateral cooperation in the defense field in a way that serves the interests of both countries and their national security. The pair stressed their keenness to hold the joint military committee on a regular basis, as they explored prospects for cooperation between Egypt and Tunisia in the defense area, particularly in light of shared global and regional threats and challenges, notably the escalating crises in parts of the Arab world and the Sahel-Sahara region, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
