Man charged in deadly shooting of Lancaster County business owner
Just before 6 p.m., deputies responded to a home on Memorial Park Road, which was owned by relatives of Roger Ledell Baskins.
Weeks prior to this incident, Baskins got into an argument with his family members. During that argument, Baskins pulled out a pistol and threatened one family member before firing several shots into another family member's car in the yard.
According to deputies, Baskins then used a car battery to smash windows out of the car he shot, as well as another car that belonged to a third family member. However, no one was injured during this incident.
Baskins left the scene on foot and was eventually spotted by family members in a yard on Willow Lake Road. He was then taken into custody.

Witnesses at the scene told the sheriff's department that Baskins had been driving a burgundy 1997 Toyota 4Runner before arriving at the location. An inquiry into the vehicle revealed it belonged to a 65-year-old Charles Wilburn Presler from Rock Hill.
At the request of local officers, Rock Hill Police Department went to the Presler address and spoke with his wife. She said she hadn't been able to get in contact with him via phone.
She also said Presler operated a business on Memorial Park Road, which was a short distance from the home where the family disturbance occurred. Deputies then searched that business and found Presler deceased from a gunshot wound. He also appeared to have been robbed.
When Baskins was arrested, deputies said they found a pistol in the 4Runner. An initial investigation indicates Baskins arrived at Presler's business a little over an hour after the domestic disturbance.
'We might never know what set Baskins off, but for about an hour and a half he was on a violent rampage in our community,' said Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile. 'Our thoughts and prayers are with the murder victim's family and friends. I'm thankful Baskins' family members alerted police to his location, and I appreciate the quick action taken by the Lancaster Police Department officers who chased Baskins down and took him into custody. Our community was not safe as long as Baskins was on the run.'
In connection with the homicide, Baskins has been charged with murder, armed robbery, secon- degree burglary, grand larceny of more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes.
In connection with the homicide, Baskins has been charged with murder, armed robbery, second-degree burglary, grand larceny of more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes.
Baskins is being held at the Lancaster County Detention Center after his bond was denied Thursday afternoon.

‘Extremely Unscientific Process:' Texas Woman's White Toyota 4Runner Gets Stolen. Then She Goes Looking for It
A Texas woman is chronicling the search for her stolen white Toyota 4Runner. And she's asking anyone with experience in recovering stolen vehicles for help. TikTok user Alyssa ( @alyssas_outfits_ ) was the victim of a car theft just over a week ago. She last saw her white Toyota 4Runner at the Hotel Indigo in Austin on the morning of July 22. After turning to Reddit for suggestions on where and how to recover stolen vehicles, she and two friends went on a day-long journey to track down her 4Runner . 'We formed a search committee to drive around all the spots that Reddit suggested we look,' she says in a post documenting their search. 'We were downtown, on the eastside, along Airport [Boulevard].' 'And, let me tell you, there are a lot of white 4Runners in Austin.' Get the best news, reviews, columns, and more delivered straight to your inbox, daily. back Sign up For more information, read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use . As one of her friends drove, Alyssa clicked her keyfob at every white 4Runner they passed, but none of them were hers. 'An extremely unscientific process,' she admits. 'If anyone has any suggestions of where to look for a stolen car, my DMs are open.' 'Easy to Leave Cars There' In the comments section of the video, viewers did not hesitate to offer advice from personal experience with this type of situation. 'Apartment complexes, because it's easy to leave cars there,' suggested one person. Trending Now 'Can Anyone Explain?:' Man Pumps Gas at Shell Station. Then He Takes a Closer Look at Where His Fuel Is Coming From 'They Have About 70% Tread Life Left:' Man Buys Tires Off Facebook Marketplace. Then He Takes Them to Discount Tire 'It's probably across the border at this point,' said a second person. 'This exact same thing happened to my ex in 2013. We drove around Austin for two days, going to all the locations his iPad pinged off (it was in the truck). We ended up finding the truck in South Texas—just about to cross the border.' 'Vehicles nowadays have telematics,' said someone else, referring to GPS technology . 'Have the dealer and finance company activate yours.' Another person said, 'You need to check junkyards. They might strip your car and dump it at junkyards.' What Should You Do If Your Car Is Stolen? A Kiplinger article echoes some of the advice in the comments, including putting an AirTag in your vehicle and purchasing other anti-theft measures, such as steering wheel and pedal locks. The author also recommends making sure any big-ticket personal items you leave in your vehicle are covered under your homeowner's or renter's insurance policy. If your car is stolen, obviously, you want to call the police, your local DMV, your insurance company, and your lender to let them all know about the theft. If your wallet was in the car, you're in for another series of phone calls to cancel everything. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles also notes that reporting the theft immediately is key because it protects you from liability if the vehicle is involved in an accident that harms other people after being stolen. A lot of people in the comments voiced frustration with the police's response to vehicle thefts. The Kiplinger article says that it's common for police to do the bare minimum with regard to recovering stolen vehicles. However, you have a better chance of success if you cooperate with officers and check back in regularly for updates. Motor1 reached out to Alyssa via TikTok comment and direct message for comment. Hit-and-run driver who mowed down mom-to-be on way home from Beyoncé concert nabbed in NYC: officials
The hit-and-run driver who cops say mowed down and dragged a pregnant woman heading home from a Beyoncé concert was busted on murder charges, cops said Wednesday — as the victim's grieving husband slammed the motorist as a 'coward' and a 'monster.' Chaquasia Pigford, 28, faces a laundry list of charges — including second-degree murder, manslaughter, reckless driving, driving without a license, and leaving the scene of a deadly accident — for allegedly ramming into 32-year-old Tiffany Cifuni the night of May 24 in Bedford-Stuyvesant, cops said. Pigford was ordered held without bail by Judge Dena E. Douglas during her Wednesday afternoon arraignment, attended by about 10 relatives of the slain mom-to-be, including her husband, James Cifuni. Paul Martinka 'She's a coward,' the tearful husband could be heard saying during the proceedings. 'She's a monster.' Tiffany's father-in-law, Nick Cifuni, a private practice lawyer who previously worked for the NYPD, told reporters the family is 'happy today happened.' Advertisement 'We have been reeling from the day [Tiffany] was killed,' he said. 'We will not rest until it's over and we get justice for Tiffany. 'I don't want to say anything to disrupt the evidence of the case.' 7 Pigford allegedly struck Cifuni from behind after the two women's cars got into a fender-bender in Bedford-Stuyvesant, cops said. Paul Martinka, cell 718.810.5185 Cifuni — who prosecutors say was 12 weeks pregnant — was on her way home from the Beyoncé concert at MetLife Stadium the night she was killed, her heartbroken in-laws told WABC at the time of the tragedy. Advertisement While en route, Cifuni, who was driving a 2021 Toyota 4Runner, was rear-ended by Pigford, who was driving a stolen 2016 Chevy Trax on Lewis Avenue, cops and prosecutors said. Cifuni followed Pigford for about two blocks before the Chevy driver finally stopped at Van Buren Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard, Assistant District Attorney Tara Kelly said. 7 Cifuni was on her way home from a Beyoncé concert when she was rear-ended by Pigford, prosecutors said. Facebook / Tiffany Rivera Cifuni got out of her car and walked up to Pigford's ride — but Pigford 'refused to roll down her window or speak with Tiffany,' Kelly said. Advertisement 'At that point, the defendant first lightly pressed the gas, causing the vehicle to briefly touch Mrs. Cifuni,' Kelly recounted. 'Tiffany jumped backwards and placed her hands on the hood.' 'When a passerby was walking down the street, Tiffany yelled, asking him to take a photo of the defendant's license plate,' she added. 'At that moment, the defendant floored the gas, instantly striking Tiffany, causing her body to become lodged beneath the vehicle.' 7 Cifuni was in her first trimester at the time of her death. Facebook / Barbara Cifuni Pigford then made an illegal right turn into oncoming traffic on Marcus Garvey Boulevard, Kelly said. It wasn't until Pigford drove over a manhole that Cifuni's body was dislodged, according to the prosecutor. But the driver's rampage wasn't done — police said the Chevy struck a parked Volkswagen SUV while trying to get away, and then slammed into a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 38-year-old woman behind the wheel. 7 Tiffany's husband James Cifuni called Pigford a 'coward' and a 'monster' during the accused hit-and-run driver's first court appearance. Facebook / Barbara Cifuni 'The only reason the defendant stopped driving was because both of her front tires blew out,' Kelly said. 'She then abandoned the stolen car and fled the scene on foot.' Advertisement The crazed driver then got out and fled on foot, leaving behind the Chevy, which had temporary plates. Pigford fled to South Carolina, where she has relatives, and was nabbed when she returned to Brooklyn late Tuesday, according to Kelly. 7 Pigford, who was driving a stolen car, denied any responsibility for the deadly hit-and-run. Diego Luzuriaga/FreedomNewsTV Cifuni's in-laws previously told WABC that just two weeks before her tragic death, Cifuni had shared the news that she and James, who lived on Long Island, were expecting their first child. Advertisement Before the arraignment, Pigford – who lives less than a mile from the scene – denied any responsibility for the crash as detectives led her out of the 81st Precinct stationhouse. 'It wasn't me, it was the person who owns the car,' she told reporters. 7 Pigford faces a slew of charges and was ordered held without bail during her arraignment. Diego Luzuriaga/FreedomNewsTV Advertisement Her attorney, John Signoriello, echoed his client's denial in court and tried to press for $10,000 bail because his client has strong community ties, lives with her mother and works as a home health aide. Pigford, who wore glasses, a navy blue hoodie and black leggings, kept her hood pulled over her head during the proceedings. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 30.
