Bigger, bolder and better than ever, the South's favorite summer celebration kicks off July 17
RICHMOND, Va., July 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The wait is finally over as Hot Tomato Summer officially kicks off Thursday, July 17, with Duke's Mayo once again celebrating Summer's favorite duo: tomatoes and mayonnaise. Running through Sunday, July 27, this 10-day culinary celebration brings together top restaurants across seven Southeastern cities, each offering unique, limited-time dishes that feature peak-season tomatoes and the bold flavor of Duke's Mayonnaise.
This year's event welcomes Virginia Beach, VA to the lineup for the very first time. They are joining returning cities: Richmond, Greenville, Charleston, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Knoxville. Each participating restaurant has created a Hot Tomato Summer special -- from reinvented classics like tomato pie and the ultimate BLT, to surprising twists like mayo-infused desserts, cocktails, and more.
"Hot Tomato Summer is our favorite kind of tradition – the juicy, joy-filled kind," says Rebecca Lupesco, Duke's Marketing Director. "Every year, restaurants have a blast putting their spin on the mayo-and-tomato combo, and diners can't wait to see what's next. It's grown into something bigger (and tastier) than we ever imagined."
Since its debut in Richmond in 2021, Hot Tomato Summer has expanded into a culinary sensation, with hundreds of restaurants participating and thousands of tomato lovers tracking down their favorite dishes each year. Every day, diners can shout out their favorite Hot Tomato Summer dish by nominating a participating restaurant at hottomatosummer.com. The restaurant in each city with the most love by the end of the event will take home the coveted Golden Tomato Award – this year featuring a fresh new design. And, back by popular demand – VenMayo. Duke's will randomly send cash via Venmo to fans who post their Hot Tomato Summer dish on Instagram and tag both the restaurant and @dukes_mayonnaise.
Hot Tomato Summer-themed t-shirts, and other merch will be available exclusively at dukesmayo.com and select pop-ups throughout the celebration. Additionally, Duke's will team up with local influencers in each participating city to help amplify the campaign, highlight standout dishes, and build buzz within their community.
As in years past, Duke's and Sauer Brands are proud to support community food justice organizations, donating $20,000 collectively to nonprofits including Shalom Farms in Richmond, VA, and Mill Village Garden in Greenville, SC.

Duke's Mayonnaise was created in 1917 in Greenville, S.C., by Eugenia Duke. Since then, Duke's has been adding southern flavors to make good things better. In addition to the flagship mayonnaise, which is still made according to the founder's original recipe, Duke's offers light, olive oil, and flavored mayonnaises, tartar sauce, sandwich relish and regionally inspired Duke's Southern Sauces, dressings, and mustards. Duke's is the Official Condiment of the Tailgate, Official Mayo of the Carolina Panthers and title sponsor of the Duke's Mayo Classic & Duke's Mayo Bowl. Web: dukesmayo.com. And Just Like That EPs Tell All About That Taylor Swift Needle Drop, Why It Was Perfect for Carrie's Big Moment

Turns out Carrie Bradshaw is like every other woman alive: She leans on Taylor Swift to help her get through a breakup. This week on And Just Like That…, Carrie said goodbye to her longtime love Aidan after she realized he'd never get over her affair with Big all those years ago. And after they decided to split up, we heard Taylor Swift's beautifully melancholic song 'How Did It End?' on the soundtrack as Carrie took all the Virginia postcards off of her fridge, got dressed up and met her girlfriends for drinks. (The lyrics even center on a recently ended relationship, with the opening line: 'We hereby conduct this post mortem…') More from TVLine And Just Like That EPs Admit to Hesitating Over Carrie and Aidan's Big Decision: 'Are We Making a Mistake?' Washington Black's Sterling K. Brown and Ernest Kingsley Junior Revel in the 'Brotherhood and Mentorship' Hulu's Historical Drama Gave Them Outlander Spinoff Cast on Why Blood of My Blood Makes Claire's Journey in the Original Series Even More 'Tragic' Swift herself signed off on the inclusion of the song, executive producer Elisa Zuritsky tells TVLine, crediting showrunner Michael Patrick King with sealing the deal: 'That was a Michael Patrick King production, right out of his brain. It was shortly after her newest album [The Tortured Poets Department] was released, and he knew of the song before I did… He was right there on it with that song.' The song really fit the resilient mood of that final scene with Carrie, too, fellow EP Julie Rottenberg points out, and the writers used it as inspiration: 'It was helpful, once [Michael] shared that idea with us, to think about that song in writing it, and to make sure that that last scene felt not just tragic, but empowering and maybe freeing. That she always has her friends, and this isn't the end. It might be an end, but life goes on.' What did you think of the Taylor Swift song — and Carrie's big breakup? Tell us in the comments! 'We're not in Richmond anymore': What we know about 'Ted Lasso' Season 4

Believe it — Season 4 of Ted Lasso has officially begun production, Apple TV+ announced this week. That's right, Coach Lasso, the show's beloved mustachioed and mild-mannered namesake, who helped guide audiences through a global pandemic with optimism and humanity, is back on the football pitch. Well, this calls for biscuits. Filming has officially kicked off in star Jason Sudeikis's (Ted Lasso) hometown of Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Quinton Lucas called it 'another major victory for the city's rapidly expanding film industry,' in a post on X in which he appears to be sporting a blue Ted Lasso hat. Additional filming is also set to take place across the pond in London. Apple TV posted a video on Instagram of Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Sudeikis gathered around what appears to be a booth at a traditional American restaurant as some of the key members of AFC Richmond get ready to film a scene. The accompanying caption reads: 'We're not in Richmond anymore. Ted Lasso Season 4 is now in production.' The streaming service confirmed back in March that there would be a fourth season. The show has won 13 Emmy Awards and has received a total of 61 Emmy nominations. Barbecue sauce. What can fans expect in Season 4? At the end of Season 3, Ted ends up returning to the U.S. after coaching the fictional AFC Richmond soccer team in London in order to be closer to his son, Henry. The streaming service indicates on its website what fans can expect in the highly anticipated new season: 'Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.' Do we know when Season 4 will be released or if there's an official trailer? So far, Apple TV+ says a release date for Season 4 is coming soon. No official trailer has been released yet, aside from this week's teaser. Which characters will return? Even though they're not pictured in the promo image, the wise Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) will be back. Grant Feely will replace Gus Turner as Ted's son, Henry. Other newcomers to join the cast in roles that have yet to be revealed include: Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern. Who is not returning? Fan-favorites like Nick Mohammed (Nate Shelley) and Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) along with Sarah Niles (Dr. Sharon Fieldstone), Anthony Head (Rupert Mannion), Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), James Lance (Trent Crimm), Cristo Fernandez (Dani Rojas), Kola Bokinni (Isaac McAdoo) and Billy Harris (Colin Hughes) weren't named as regular returning characters in Season 4. Breaking Down That Shocking Opening Reveal in 'Happy Gilmore 2'

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Happy Gilmore 2. Mere minutes into Happy Gilmore 2, the long-awaited sequel to Adam Sandler's 1996 sports comedy classic, it's revealed that Virginia Venit (Julie Bowen), Happy's pro golf PR director love interest-turned-wife from the first movie, was killed when Happy accidentally hit her in the head with one of his uber-powerful drives. This tragic incident occurred years into Happy and Virginia's marriage and left the couple's five children—Gordie (Maxwell Jacob Friedman), Bobby (Philip Schneider), Wayne (Ethan Cutkosky), Terry (Conor Sherry), and Vienna (Sandler's real-life daughter Sunny Sandler)—without a mother. It also led to the downfall of Happy's golf career, which had thrived in the years following the original movie but ultimately resulted in a complete fall from grace when Happy gave up the game, blew all his money, and turned to alcohol to cope with his guilt and grief. As he laments in his opening voiceover, "I'd never been a big boozer, but alcohol was the only thing that helped me to forget what I'd done to the sweetest woman I'd ever known." Like its predecessor, Happy Gilmore 2 is an absurd and often over-the-top slapstick comedy. But as is the case with most Sandler films, it also contains moments of sincerity that ground it in reality. And the death of a beloved legacy character from the first movie certainly qualifies for that distinction. However, narratively speaking, Virginia's death makes sense and ends up being the catalyst that propels the story forward. Having lost the entirety of his golf earnings in addition to his now-late grandma's old house, Happy finds himself in a tight spot when he needs $300,000 to send his daughter to a fancy Paris ballet school so she can take full advantage of her dance talents. Naturally, the only way to make that much money in a short period of time is for him to try to get back in fighting form and rejoin the Tour Championship league, a decision that sets him on a crash course to face off with new villain Frank Manatee (Benny Safdie), the creator of a stunt-based golf association dubbed Maxi Golf. Virginia's death also mirrors that of Happy's father from the first movie, which was caused by an errant hockey slapshot and resulted in young Happy going to live with his grandma. Happy's father's untimely death was what led to Happy developing a short fuse, and his bond with his grandma was what first inspired him to take up the game of golf despite his distaste for the pretensions of the sport. We all know how that turned out. This time around, while Happy's grief over Virginia's death is his weak spot, his love for his family is also what keeps him going when he's close to giving up. First he just has to face off not just against Manatee but a host of familiar foes—and their progeny—on his second shot at golf glory.
