BJP Telangana leader Raja Singh's resignation accepted, reasons cited in letter rejected
In a letter to Raja Singh, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh informed the leader that party national president JP Nadda had accepted his resignation. However, the BJP has rejected the reasons for quitting that the MLA cited in the resignation letter.
'The aforesaid letter has been brought to the notice of Hon'ble National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji. The contents mentioned by you are irrelevant and do not match the functioning, ideology and principles of the party,' the BJP's letter to the MLA read.
The party, however, accepted Raja Singh's resignation with 'immediate effect'.
'As per the direction of Hon'ble National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, I do convey that your resignation has been accepted with immediate effect,' Arun Singh's letter further stated.
T. Raja Singh, a firebrand leader from Telangana, who was once the BJP's lone MLA in the state, quit the party on June 30 over a leadership tussle.

The decision came shortly after media reports suggested that N Ramchander Rao to be the new president of the BJP's Telangana unit.
The BJP MLA, in a letter addressed to G Kishan Reddy, President of the BJP Telangana unit, said that the decision to appoint Ramchander Rao as the BJP state president came as a 'shock and disappointment' to him.
'As per media reports, Shri Ramchander Rao is set to be appointed as the new BJP State President for Telangana. This decision has come as a shock and disappointment, not just to me, but to lakhs of Karyakartas, leaders, and voters who have stood by the party through every high and low,' Singh said in the letter shared by him on X.
'There are many capable senior leaders, MLAs, and MPs within our state who have tirelessly worked for the growth of BJP and who have the strength, credibility, and connect to lead the party forward,' he added.
He, however, added that he remains fully committed to the Hindutva ideology and 'continue to stand with the Hindu community.'

Sri Lanka sacks high-ranking police officer over Easter Sunday bombings
Colombo, Jul 20 (PTI) A deputy inspector general of police in Sri Lanka has been sacked from the service following a disciplinary inquiry related to the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks. Nilantha Jayawardena, who previously served as the head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), was placed on compulsory leave by the National Police Commission (NPC) in July 2024, pending an internal investigation. Following the conclusion of the inquiry, the NPC decided to dismiss Jayawardena from service. 'It was decided at the meeting of the police commission held on July 17 to order the immediate dismissal from police service of the senior deputy inspector general of police, Nilantha Jayawardena," the NCP said in a statement. About 270 people, including 11 Indians, were killed as suicide bombers belonging to the local Islamist extremist group National Thawheed Jamaat, linked to ISIS, carried out a series of blasts that tore through three churches and as many luxury hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday in 2019. On March 21, 2024, the police commission decided to conduct a disciplinary inquiry against Jayawardena for his negligence of duty, which led to the Easter Sunday attack. The report of the disciplinary investigation was received by the police commission two weeks ago. The commission ruled that Jayawardena was guilty of all the counts in the chargesheet served on him. Jayawardena becomes the most senior police officer to be found guilty of dereliction of duty. He was ordered to pay a 75 million rupee fine as compensation to the victims. The Supreme Court in 2023 ruled that former President Maithripala Sirisena, former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, former National Intelligence Chief Sisira Mendis and former SIS Chief Jayawardena had violated the Fundamental Rights of the petitioners by failing to act on prior intelligence that could have prevented the attacks. The then president Sirisena was ordered to pay 100 million to the relatives of the victims. The attack became a political issue in the country, with the then rulers, the Rajapaksa family, being accused of using the attack to regain power. The Catholic church, unimpressed by the police investigations, called for international investigations to bring justice to the families of victims. Major political developments later this year: State BJP chief
Mysuru: BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Friday predicted a major political development in the state later this year, amid speculation about the chief minister change within the ruling of the government's mega convention 'Sadhana Samavesha' in Mysuru on July 19, he claimed that the event is part of Siddaramaiah's conspiracy to 'blackmail or threaten' the Congress high command, using his AHINDA vote bank, against any move to replace him from the CM post. AHINDA is a Kannada acronym for minorities, backward classes, and Dalits. 'Wait and see in November, or either before the Bihar election or after the Bihar election. It is certain that a major political development will take place in Karnataka. No one can stop it from happening,' Vijayendra told reporters in response to a question on CM or leadership change developments in the ruling Congress. Asked about the BJP's role in the predicted political developments, he said, 'The BJP is functioning as an opposition in the state, and we are satisfied.' The state government is organising the Sadhana Samavesha, where development works worth over Rs 2,600 crore for Mysuru will be inaugurated and foundation stones will be laid, according to officials. Siddaramaiah is known for holding conventions whenever he faces a threat to the CM's post. Tomorrow's event is part of a conspiracy to directly threaten the Congress high command, Vijayendra claimed. 'Recently, when Siddaramaiah went to Delhi, Rahul Gandhi did not give him an appointment. He directly met Mallikarjun Kharge (Congress President) and gave an interview to the national media where he threw a challenge at the Congress high command (by asserting he will be CM for five years). 'So, tomorrow's convention in Mysuru is not just a Sadhana Samavesha, there is a conspiracy to blackmail the Congress high command behind it,' he said. Further, questioning the CM as to why Sadhana Samavesha is being held, he said, 'There is no such situation. What is your Sadhane (achievement)?' Alleging that Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar's competition for free publicity led to stampede outside Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on June 4 killing eleven people, Vijayendra said both of them should have taken responsibility, but innocent police officers are being made the scapegoat. 'RCB is also being made a scapegoat using the retired Justice John Michael Cunha commission (the one-man inquiry commission constituted by the government to inquire into the stampede) report, to prove themselves (Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar) as innocent,' he claimed and asked, is this the achievement for which the Sadhana Samavesha is being held? Questioning the government about what is had achieved and done for Mysuru to hold the Sadhana Samavesha here, the state BJP chief said, 'Sadhana Samavesha is not to commemorate the chief minister's achievements or the development of the state or for giving crores of money for Mysuru region. Instead, as the time has come for him (Siddaramaiah) to resign as the CM, to assert that he won't resign for any reason, this is a conspiracy to threaten the Congress high command.' Alleging that Siddaramaiah holds conventions whenever there is a threat to his CM seat, he said, it is only then the CM remembers AHINDA communities, which is his strong support base and vote bank. Using the AHINDA communities as his 'capital', Siddaramaiah is conspiring to threaten Shivakumar and the Congress high command, he alleged. Asked if the conspiracy will work out this time too, Vijayendra said there are limitations to any conspiracy. The Congress leaders themselves have been saying there is a power sharing understanding between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar at the high command level. 'The situation seems to have arisen for the CM to resign, so all this game is going on. We will get an answer to this in the days ahead,' he added. The Karnataka Congress has been under scrutiny over reports of a rotational chief minister arrangement between Shivakumar and current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah following the party's victory in the 2023 Assembly elections. While both leaders have publicly denied any such formal agreement, speculation continues to persist within party circles.
