Four NY hotels make Esquire's 2025 list of world's best new hotels
"Great hotels don't just cater to your daily needs. They're oases of comfort in foreign lands and gateways to dazzling new cultures," the magazine said. "The very best hotels won't just make your vacation. They can change the way you see the world."
Here's which new hotels in the Empire State made the list and why.
Food was a major highlight for the Esquire reviewer of this Greene County hotel tucked within the Catskill Mountains as breakfast at The Henson consists of homemade pop tarts and local butter and a meal or two at the establishment's restaurant, Matilda, is a must, according to the review.
"There is really no need to venture into the outside world once you're in the Henson's cocoon," according to Esquire. "Grab a cocktail and your book, kick your shoes off and park yourself on the couch, just like you would in your own living room."
The hotel was also featured on Conde Nast Traveler's The Best New Hotels in the United States: 2025 Hot List.
Where: 39 Goshen Road, Hensonville
Cost (according to Esquire): Rooms from $279

You can get the "best chicken nuggets in town" at Sloane's or relax like you're in your own living room inside the Apartment, The Manner's guest-only lounge, if you choose to book a stay at the "Studio 54 stylish, yet comfortable" hotel, as noted by Esquire.
"An understated façade on Thompson street hides the sexiest hotel in SoHo," Esquire says. "There's no better center of operations for your next New York trip."

There's a lot to love about The Surrey, according to Esquire's review. Originally built in the 1920's, the "art deco gem" at 76th and Madison recently reopened after a multiyear renovation and now features 70 rooms, 30 suites, a small spa and "one of the hardest-to-get tables in town" by way of its lobby bar and restaurant Casa Tua.
"Don't let yourself get swept away by the history," an Esquire editor or contributor said. "Muted terra-cotta-colored walls, crisp linens and walk-in marble showers make for plush surroundings ... Movie stars, politicians, famous divorcees, influencers — everyone here is someone. Including you."
The hotel was also featured on Conde Nast Traveler's The Best New Hotels in the United States: 2025 Hot List and Travel + Leisure's The 100 Best New Hotels of the Year list.

A 16-room inn located between the inlets of Moneybogue and Quantuck Bay in the Hamptons, Seven Beach Lane is the ideal spot for breathtaking sunsets, fresh breakfasts and locally-sourced dinners, Esquire's review reveals.
"Staying at Seven Beach Lane in welcoming Westhampton Beach feels like visiting a friend's coastal mansion - the one that's been in his family since the Gilded Age," says an Esquire editor or contributor. "This is the Hamptons without the hassle."

The Best Beauty Essentials For Summer Travel
Phlur, Nip+Fab, Ipsum, Pelegrims, Eco by Sonya, Josh Wood Colour Phlur, Nip+Fab, Ipsum, Pelegrims, Eco by Sonya, Josh Wood Colour Whether you're beach bound or city hopping, summer calls for a streamlined beauty lineup that works hard and packs light. 'As a travel writer, I'm on the road a lot for work, and I'm always trying to pack as light as possible,' says Emma Weissmann, Executive Editor of TravelAge West. 'I'm also a makeup minimalist who gets overwhelmed with the number of products on the market. Subtl [custom stackable makeup] has been a game-changer for me. I took a quiz to find out what colors might look best with my skin tone and then customized my stack so that it has concealer, bronzer, highlighter and a lip/cheek combo. I only pack two additional products—foundation and mascara—to round out my routine, and I've gotten so many compliments on my makeup. Now, my stack just lives in my suitcase and comes with me everywhere, and it has cost me so much less than if I were to buy separate, full-size products.' Ipsum's beautifully scented Best Skin Replenishing Mist is a savior on long flights. Hailing from Australia, Ipsum is a certified organic skincare line that harnesses native botanicals, and the brand's Replenishing Mist delivers ultra-fine hydration via plant-sourced hyaluronic acid and vitamin C–rich native plums. It's also packed with Australian Fragonia essential oil, which is believed to support the parasympathetic nervous system, which could help re-regulate circadian rhythm and ease jet-lag symptoms. Eco by Sonya Glory Veil Eco by Sonya Keeping with the Australian theme, Eco by Sonya is an Australian clean beauty brand founded by eco-beautician Sonya Driver and specializing in reef-safe, organic skincare. The brand's body sunscreen will not budge, making it perfect for long beach days. It's a mineral-based, broad-spectrum SPF that protects against UVA and UVB but is also free from chemicals and fragrance. 'Le Balm is a little pot of gold,' says beauty writer Brianna Peters. 'It's a French, do-it-all salve that works as a serum, moisturizer, balm, eye cream, lip treatment and more. I put it all over my clean face, under my nostrils (to help keep my nose from drying out), on my lips and cuticles, and it replenishes my skin against the moisture-stripping plane air. It leaves my skin with the most beautiful, ethereal glow when I land—so much so that I've gotten compliments from strangers.' Naked Sundays Water Gel SPF Naked Sundays Naked Sundays - CabanaClear Water Gel Serum SPF 50 For face SPF, the summer go-to has to be Naked Sundays. The Australian brand's CabanaClear Water Gel Serum SPF 50 is a cutting-edge hydrating gel with broad-spectrum sun protection. It's light as air and completely clear (no white cast), plus it's extra hydrating with hyaluronic acid, kakadu plum and vitamin E. The product gets bonus points for being fast absorbing, making it a great under-makeup base on hot, sunny travel days. Nip+Fab's Tone & Top Up SPF50 One last entry in the sunscreen category: an over-makeup mist that does it all. 'We're told time and time again how important it is to top up your SPF throughout the day, but unless you want to remove and reapply your makeup, it's kind of impossible,' says freelance beauty editor Lucy Partington. 'That's exactly where an over-makeup mist comes in nicely. Nip+Fab's Tone & Top Up SPF50 spray is lightweight and hydrating, making it perfect to spritz on throughout the day. It combines a blend of skin-boosting ingredients alongside broad spectrum UV defence to leave skin both glowy and protected. One thing to note is that this shouldn't replace your usual sunscreen—still apply that in the morning—and keep this one in your bag for easy, on-the-go reapplication.' Dr. David Jack Clinic-Carry On Led by aesthetics doctor David Jack, this skincare line focuses on clean, clinically tested formulations. The Clinic-Carry On kit is a cure-all travel kit that includes essentials like lipid-repair moisturizers in compact sizes tailored for air travel and climate changes. It's curated to combat dehydration, redness and UV exposure in one portable package, all products are small enough to clear TSA checks with ease. Tołpa - Dermo Face Lipidrio Cream-Oil Polish dermo-cosmetic brand Tołpa specializes in skincare for sensitive and dry skin, and their Cream-Oil is a nighttime must while on vacation. The cream transforms into a nourishing oil upon application and is deeply moisturizing, smoothing roughness and accelerating overnight repair. It's a nighttime summer rescue for skin exposed to sun and salt. Bioeffect Imprinting Eye Masks Another pick from beauty writer Brianna Peters: Bioeffect Imprinting Eye Masks. 'These eye gel masks are a cooling, calming, de-puffing and hydrating airplane must, ' she says. 'They're brilliant on their own but when supercharged with the brand's eye serum (made with a special growth factor complex from Iceland), the results are even more impressive. Right before landing, I apply a few drops of the silky serum under my eyes (it comes in the most brilliant roller-ball format so it's mess-free) and follow with the eye gels on top. I leave it on for about 10 minutes to soak up all the nourishing goodness. As someone with sensitive eyes and major dark circles, it's like a magic eraser for dullness and puffiness. Plus, they're totally translucent so you don't look totally crazy to other passengers.' Dr. Sebagh - Pure Vitamin C Powder Cream Founded by skincare expert Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh in the UK, this namesake brand is known for medical-grade, high-performance treatments. The award-winning Pure Vitamin C Powder Cream delivers a stabilized, potent form of vitamin C in powder form that transforms into a light cream on contact to brighten dull, sun-exposed skin and neutralize free radicals. The non-liquid, small sachets make for easy transport. Got2b - GetFresh Dry Shampoo Created by Schwarzkopf's Got2b brand, this is a dry shampoo spray in a fine mist format. It refreshes roots using rice starch to absorb oil and impurities, with a light bergamot and freesia scent (the ingredients are 99% naturally derived). Great for after a flight, it revives limp and greasy hair instantly. Josh Wood Colour - Miracle Hair Oil Josh Wood London is a UK-based salon brand founded by celebrity colorist Josh Wood. The Miracle Hair Oil in 30-milliliter travel size is a lightweight 5-in-1 oil blend containing kukui nut, babassu and pracaxi oils, alongside quinoa extract and green walnut. Advanced UV filters are designed to protect the hair from UV and pollution while also preserving color vibrancy. It's ideal for moisturizing hair post-swim, while defending against UV-induced fading. Pelegrims - Grape Leaf Sheet Mask Created by the boutique skincare brand Pelegrims, these botanical sheet masks are formulated with English grape extract sourced from Westwell vineyard in Kent, England. Intensely hydrating and soothing, the mask are perfect for use on a long flight (they're not too drippy or sticky) or after sun exposure to cool and replenish moisture to irritated skin. Aegean Beauty Aegean Beauty Aegean Beauty - Solid Body Butter Aegean Beauty is a Greek brand from Syros, featuring locally sourced ingredients and supporting local producers. The solid Body Butter is rich yet compact, providing deep hydration from natural botanicals. The balm-like texture melts onto sun-parched skin, while the lemony scent uplifts. Bon Charge - Red Light Face Wand Bon Charge is a science-wellness brand offering tech-based beauty and recovery devices. The ultra-portable Red Light Face Wand uses near-infrared and red light LEDs to stimulate collagen, reduce fine lines and improve tone and texture. It's lightweight, easy to pack, chargeable with a USB cord and only requires 5 to 10-minute sessions per day, making it very travel friendly. The Natural Africa The Natural Africa The Natural Africa - Cape Aloe Serum Aloe is essential for any sunny holiday and South African brand The Natural Africa has the perfect formula in their Cape Aloe Serum. A blend of sustainably sourced Aloe Ferox juice, Devil's Claw, rose geranium, grapefruit oils and hyaluronic acid, the serum is deeply hydrating with potent antioxidants. This Airline's ‘Honeymoon Suite' Is the Ultimate Business Class Seat for a Couple's Trip—Here's Why
Only once in my life have I been mistaken for a celebrity at an airport—and of all places, it was at Los Angeles' LAX, where luggage handlers have IMDb pages and roughly 98% of the people passing through are likely to be more famous than me. It wasn't my outfit or my attitude … it actually wasn't about me at all. It was the Qatar Airways service agent escorting me with purpose past the crowds that made other travelers gawk and audibly wonder, 'Who is she?' as I was whisked by them. My husband and I were about to embark on a two-day journey to the Maldives (including a 16-hour flight to Doha, a one-night stopover, and a five-hour second leg), but suddenly, that didn't feel long enough. We were excited about overwater villas and colorful coral reefs, but we were almost equally as pumped to cuddle up in a double bed in the sky for a movie marathon interrupted only by on-demand dining and a premium wine list. We knew very well what we were in for when we booked what was a dream trip for both of us. We didn't write our own wedding vows, but if we had, we would have promised that whenever routes allowed, any big, important trip we took together would be reserved for a Q-Suite. Here's a breakdown of everything you should know before booking business class on Qatar Airways—and why it's the ultimate choice for a honeymoon or any milestone trip for couples. A passenger utilizing the Al Maha Services. The doting service agent at LAX was just a glimpse of what was to come. Inside the Tom Bradley International Terminal, Qatar business class passengers have access to the oneworld business class lounge, where we were dropped off for a pre-flight snack and cocktails after check-in and expedited security. While it was a pleasant way to kick off our travels, that was nothing compared to the check-in experience at Hamad International Airport (DOH), Qatar Airways' main operating base, upon our return. DOH is consistently named one of the best airports in the world, with a tropical garden, luxurious lounges, designer shops, and dining options as far as the eye can see. Qatar's Al Maha meet and assist service sends an agent to greet guests and escort them to the lounge while the immigration service is expedited. Then, they're guided directly to the gate for priority boarding. Interior of the Al Mourjan Business Class lounge at Hamad International Airport. There are two Al Mourjan Business Lounges at DOH, but we always choose the newer Al Mourjan Business Lounge – The Garden in the North Terminal, which is almost 80,000 square feet and has possibly the best view in the entire airport, overlooking the indoor gardens known as The Orchard, with its tropical plants and serene water features. There is a la carte dining along with hot and cold buffets, but we often opt for two bar seats near the sushi, where you can mix and match your rolls and nigiri of choice. There's also a spa with seven treatment rooms and a fitness center. While there, you can also access the world's first Louis Vuitton Lounge, with its monogrammed furniture and luggage, chic design, and French menu by renowned Parisian chef Yannick Alléno. Globally, his restaurants have a combined 16 Michelin stars. Food and drinks in the Louis Vuitton Lounge come at an extra cost. We flew on the extra wide-bodied Airbus A350-1000, a technologically advanced aircraft Qatar uses on many of its long-haul routes. While these planes are known for being spacious, from overhead bins to seats, they also have LED ambient lighting to create a serene atmosphere, complemented by interiors outfitted in the brand's signature burgundy and gray with rose-gold accents. Passengers can feel good about the advanced HEPA air filtration and should know that this model emits lower carbon dioxide than its predecessors. If you're traveling with Qatar as a couple, here is one vital tip: To secure a double bed configuration, select the middle pair of seats (E and F) in an odd-numbered row. You must be on the same booking to do this through the app or online. Otherwise, you'll need to call. Once you've secured your 'honeymoon suite,' you'll be able to replace the divider with a cushion, and both seats will lie flat as one double bed, which your flight attendant will make up for you with mattress pads, plush bedding, and travel-themed pillows. While ours was being made, we changed into our complimentary Formula 1-themed pajamas (Qatar Airways is the official airline partner of F1), and then slid our privacy doors shut and slept almost too well—we actually regretted not staying awake for more of the in-flight experience. Although we enjoyed the rare time offline, Qatar recently became the largest global airline to offer complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi on board its Boeing 777 aircraft, and it's adding the service to its A350s starting this summer. At up to 500 megabits per second, the connection is reported to even be strong enough for gaming. Amenity kits feature hydrating Diptyque products, and in addition to the aforementioned pajamas and premium bedding, slippers are provided from London's The White Company. The on board caviar service. Arabic coffee flavored with cardamom is poured from a traditional dallah coffee pot and served with dates as a welcome treat to begin the flight. Qatar Airways is known for its on-demand dining, and anytime snacks on the menu, including lobster rolls and afternoon tea. We shared the steak and lobster mains for a surf-and-turf dinner in the sky to remember, paired with some of our favorite New Zealand wines. Meals are served on fine China, and tables are set with flickering LED candles to set the mood. On select flights from Doha, even caviar service is available. Passengers in their Qsuite. Oryx One entertainment includes sports, international films, TV, music, and games. We tend to use our Q-Suite time to catch up on a robust lineup of rom-coms, and this flight was no different. Still, my favorite Qatar Airways entertainment experience to date was the time we flew on Thanksgiving and were able to turn our flight into a Hallmark Christmas movie marathon. (My husband might have a different opinion.) Regardless of what you choose to watch, the suite experience feels like an elevated movie night at home, making the hours fly by. And if you're a bit of an #avgeek, you'll enjoy the A350's tail and belly cameras, which give you outside views at multiple angles. From the Al Maha meet and assist service to the flight crew on board, Qatar Airways' service was a highlight. Every team member we encountered was attentive and dedicated to making the flight a memorable experience. Last time we flew Qatar Airways, we spent our layover time in the airport, which basically feels like a trip in itself. This time, however, we wanted to get out and see Doha, Qatar's rapidly evolving capital city. The airline is encouraging this with its stopover program, which includes a night at a five-star hotel from just $24. We stayed at Banyan Tree Doha at La Cigale Mushaireb, which is steps from luxury shopping and has an indoor and outdoor pool, and added a tour with Discover Qatar, which took us through the best of the city, from the National Museum of Qatar and the Corniche waterfront promenade, to the entertainment district's Katara Cultural Village and the traditional spice stalls of Souq Waqif. Qatar flies to more than 170 destinations around the world, and has expanded its presence in the U.S. Now, travelers can find Qatar Airways flights from Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. There are plenty of airlines with premium business class offerings, but there are only a select few that make you wish a 16-hour flight would go by more slowly. Qatar Airways was voted No. 2 in the world by T+L readers in this year's World's Best Awards, but specifically for couples on special occasion trips, for me, it is No. 1. The starting price for business class from LAX to DOH is $11,495. Since Qatar Airways is part of Oneworld, my tip to U.S. fliers would be to save your American Airlines AAdvantage miles for the type of experience our domestic airlines just don't offer. Bookings can be made at
