The film, directed by and starring Adam Sandler, was released last Friday and has stood out for several reasons, particularly its long list of cameos. More than 70 celebrities appear in "Happy Gilmore 2," with golf stars naturally taking center stage. Some players turned more heads than others when it came to acting, with one of them being particularly impressive to Scheffler. "The one I laughed the hardest at, and I actually texted Xander (Schauffele) about this the other day, was Xander's lines in the movie are really, really funny. Him and Rickie (Fowler) did a really good job and so did Will Zalatoris," the World No. 1 said in a recent interview for the "Pardon My Take" podcast. "Maybe like a C-minus, a passing grade. I'd give myself a passing grade, but I'm definitely not going to give myself much more than that. I had a few lines. I mean, it was fun. I'll let y'all watch the movie," he told Pardon My Take. The Ridgewood, New Jersey, native was in New York for the premiere last Monday, just over 24 hours after winning the Open Championship. Jetlag didn't stop Scheffler from enjoying the film, and he even offered a review that turned out to be more in-depth than many would expect. "We watched it on Monday night and I was surprised by how much we enjoyed the movie," he told Pardon My Take. "I mean, it's so hard with comedies to follow up the original, especially when the original is such a classic like that. But they did a really, really good job of, you know, kind of remembering the original movie by having a lot of that stuff in there, like a lot of reminiscing about the old movie while still having like a good storyline for the new one." "And lots of really funny stuff. I mean, I was cracking up. Like a lot of the guys that came in and did their cameos did an amazing job." The list of golf stars who made cameos in the film includes Jack Nicklaus, John Daly, Collin Morikawa, Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka. LIV Golf UK: Joaquin Niemann Wins Solo Title, Legion XIII Finishes as Top Team
ROCESTER, England – Joaquin Niemann continued his stellar season with a commanding wire-to-wire victory at LIV Golf UK by JCB Golf & Country Club, marking his fifth win of the 2025 season and seventh LIV Golf win overall — both LIV Golf records. The Chilean posted rounds of 65-63-68, finishing at 17-under, three shots ahead of his closest challenger. The triumph followed his decision to part ways with his coach and caddie after missing the cut at The Open Championship, a change he seamlessly overcame. On the team side, Legion XIII surged to a team victory for the second consecutive week and the fifth time this season. Niemann's dominance at JCB was a masterclass, excelling in all major statistical categories. He was exceptional from tee to green and among the week's top putters. The Torque GC captain's relentless performance in LIV Golf victories remains nothing short of jaw-dropping. It felt as though Niemann would not be threatened all day, but Bubba Watson made a strong charge on the back nine. The RangeGoats GC captain was scorching hot, going birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie on holes 9-14. The remarkable run was vintage Watson, and the 44-year-old cut the deficit to two shots with four holes to play. A birdie for Niemann on the 15th hole would stretch the lead back to three, but Watson made things interesting for a short time. He finished the week at 14-under par, good for solo second place and his best-ever LIV Golf finish. Caleb Surratt, 21, continued his rapid ascension as one of the league's brightest young players. He led the way for Legion XIII's come-from-behind team victory on Sunday when he recorded rounds of 67-68-65 to finish at 13-under and in third place, the best LIV Golf finish of his career. In fourth place was Talor Gooch of Smash GC, who shot a 5-under 66 to finish at 11-under and continue his strong form after winning his last start at LIV Golf Andalucia. On the team leaderboard, Legion XIII's victory was claimed by seven shots. The win marks their fourth of the season and eighth in the last two years. The champagne shower extends their stranglehold on the No. 1 seed in the standings as the Team Championship in Michigan inches closer. Surratt led the charge, but it was the consistency of the team, top-to-bottom, that ensured another victory. Jon Rahm charged on Sunday, shooting a 6-under 65 to finish tied for fifth. Tom McKibbin (T11) and Tyrrell Hatton (T21) both played solidly to contribute to the win. Despite a strong effort from Torque GC as they pursued their first team victory since 2023, they weren't able to overcome a tough round for Carlos Ortiz, who shot a 2-over 73. Sebastian Munoz shot a 2-under 69 and Mito Pereira shot an even par 70, which simply wasn't enough to hold off the hard-charging Legion XIII. JCB was easier in Round 3 than in the first two rounds, playing to an average of –1.87. Next up is LIV Golf Chicago at Bolingbrook Golf Club from Aug. 8-10. "In a historical context, you could argue that there's only maybe two or three players in the history of the game that have been on a run, the one that Scottie's been on here for the last 24 to 36 months," McIlroy said. '[It is]McIlroy, who over the last few years has been one of golf's great ambassadors went on to speak more about Scheffler stating, "Yeah, he's a very worthy winner. Also, he's a great person, and I think he's a wonderful ambassador for our game as well. I'm really happy for him and Meredith and his family." McIlroy used the term 'admiration' to describe how he has felt about Scottie Scheffler since 2021 when he started to make a name for himself in professional golf. "I think all you can do is admire what he does and how he does it. I think what he does is one thing, but how he does it is another. "He just goes about his business, doesn't do anything overly flamboyant, but he's the best at executing in the game right now. "Yeah, he's been absolutely amazing over these past two to three years. As I said, all you can do is tip your cap and watch in admiration." McIlroy has stated in the past that Scheffler is now the bar that professional golfers are trying to reach, and McIlroy has even tried to pattern aspects of his game after the world number one player. Coming off an impressive performance in the Open Championship where he fell four shots short of Scheffler for the championship, Harris English couldn't seem to find any holes in Scheffler's game. "Yeah, it's incredible. I wasn't playing professional golf when Tiger was at his peak, early 2000's, mid 2000's. But it's pretty incredible. Just how good of a frontrunner he is. He's improved his putting. There's no stat that he's bad in. It's like, how do you beat this guy?" English elaborated more about Scheffler and made sure to comment on his relentless work ethic. "But he works so hard, and I see him in the gym all the time, see him practising. He's one of the hardest workers I see I've ever seen, and to have No. 1 in the world working that hard, it just makes it that much harder to catch him. What he's doing right now is incredible." With Scheffler seemingly not slowing down anytime soon, players are going to have to find ways to elevate their games in order to get to Scheffler's level. If they cannot do that, we may be in the midst of one of the greatest runs in golf history.
