Hyd tourists cancel J&K bookings
The fear of the terror attack is more as the terrorists have targeted the innocent tourists killing them by asking their names and checking their religion.
The travel agents who had suffered during the last few years because of the Covid pandemic, are now a worried lot with fear of cancellations.
The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) Telangana and Andhra Pradesh chapter president Nagesh Pampati, who also heads Aeroworld, said that there are almost 150 to 160 cancellations for the tour planned during the coming week or ten days.
The tourists who had planned their visits after three to four weeks have inquired but not cancelled so far. They are inquiring about the security to be provided by the government, said Nagesh Pampati.
He said that they were cancelling the trips on the request from the tourists and the airlines were also good enough to provide a refund for the cancelled tickets.
The TAAI president said that generally, there is heavy rush of Kashmir-bound tourists from the two Telugu States. From Aeroworld alone, more than 1,000 tourists visit Kashmir between April and June every year, he added.
Another tour provider Pavan Singh of Jai Bhavanee Yatra, who operates Amarnath Yatra every year, said that there has been flood of inquiries from the travellers for the Amarnath Yatra.
Pavan Singh has been convincing the yatris that there is a lot of time left for the yatra.
The Pahalgam falls in the route of Amarnath Yatra. It is after passing from this area the pilgrims go towards Chandanwadi and Amarnath cave.
'We have already received eight to ten bookings. I have told the yatris that we are not going now. Our trip will be starting from July 1 and by that time things will settle down and there will be tight security in the Kashmir Valley,' said Pavan Singh.
He further said that the military takes over the security during Amarnath yatra and they will check every bag the tourists take.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 3 (ANI): A fresh batch of pilgrims set off on Thursday morning for the holy cave of Shri Amarnath Baba, chanting 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Bam Bam Bhole' as they began their journey. One pilgrim at the Baltal base camp, who is visiting the Amarnath shrine for the 14th time, praised the arrangements. 'I am from Sangrur, Punjab. This is the 14th time I have come for the Amarnath Yatra. There is no need to rush. The arrangements made by the government are excellent,' he told ANI. A pilgrim from Bengal, who was part of the first group departing from the Pahalgam base camp, also expressed satisfaction. 'We are very happy. We have no fear. Our government is very good... Our Army is also very good. We have no reason to be afraid,' he said. Another devotee from the same batch added, 'The facilities are very good... Everything belongs to Bhole Baba. We possess nothing... The arrangements are excellent.' Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said the enthusiasm among devotees for the 38-day yatra is unmatched. 'This Yatra is not just a religious Yatra. Security forces, 'pitthus', and every service provider are involved in it... The enthusiasm among the devotees is unparalleled. I pray that everyone's wishes are fulfilled and there is peace and happiness in Kashmir and the rest of the country,' he said. Kavita Saini, a pilgrim making her first trip to Amarnath, also shared her experience. 'This is my first time for the Amarnath Yatra. The experience is very good. We got our medical certificate and registration from here. Everyone was very helpful. The Delhi Police and Kashmir Police were all very helpful to us... I will pray that there is peace and happiness in our country and that whatever happened recently does not happen again.' The 38-day pilgrimage will begin on July 3 and end on August 9. It will follow two routes, the traditional 48-kilometre Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter but steeper 14-kilometre Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The first group of pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on July 2. Security across the Jammu region has been stepped up significantly in the wake of the April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam. Over 50,000 personnel from the CRPF, Army, and Police have been deployed. CCTV cameras, drones, jammers, and facial recognition systems are being used to monitor the route. Arrangements have also been made for medical teams, air ambulances, and emergency evacuation, to ensure the safety of all pilgrims. (ANI)

Amarnath Yatra begins as pilgrims set out from Baltal, Nunwan base camps
The annual Amarnath Yatra began on Thursday (July 3, 2025) with the first batches of pilgrims setting off from the twin base camps in Baltal and Nunwan towards the 3880-metre-high cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas, which houses a naturally formed ice-lingam, officials said. The yatra started early morning from the twin tracks— the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route and the 14-km Baltal route. The batches of pilgrims, including men, women and sadhus, left from the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam, in south Kashmir's Anantnag, and Baltal base camp in Sonamarg area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal at the first light of the day, the officials said. The chants of 'bum bum bole' filled the air as the batches were flagged off by senior officials from the respective base camps, they added. On Wednesday (July 2, 2025), the first batch of 5,892 yatris was flagged off from the yatra base camp in Jammu's Bhagwati Nagar by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The pilgrims reached the Kashmir Valley in the afternoon and received a rousing welcome from the administration and locals. They will pay obeisance at the cave shrine, which houses the naturally occurring ice-lingam formation. Stringent security arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the yatra. Thousands of security personnel from the police, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and other paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure security. Aerial surveillance will also be carried out. The 38-day pilgrimage will conclude on August 9.
