JEE Advanced Result 2025: What will be cut-off for JEE Advanced this year? Check previous year trends
In 2024, the JEE Advanced cut-off marks saw a significant increase across all categories compared to the previous year. For General and EWS candidates, the cut-off rose to 378 marks, up from 348 in 2023. Similarly, the cut-off for OBC-NCL candidates increased to 383 from 352, while for SC and ST categories, the cut-offs moved up to 364 and 366 respectively, from 331 and 323 in 2023. This upward trend reflects increasing competition and possibly a higher number of high-scoring candidates.
This year, a total of 1,87,223 candidates, comprising 1,43,810 boys and 43,413 girls, appeared for JEE Advanced 2025. According to JEE Advanced analysis received from experts and candidates, mathematics was the most challenging this year, while chemistry and physics closely followed a similar pattern.
The JEE Advanced cut-off marks last year under all the categories, except for the General-PWD category, had increased.
Nitin Vijay, founder and CEO, Motion Education while speaking about JEE Advanced 2025 cut-off said: 'The expected cut-offs for JEE Advanced 2025 reveal a slightly going down curve across most categories when compared to the past year. Similar trends are visible in the EWS and OBC categories, with both expected cut-offs around 92–95, slightly less than 2024 levels. Notably, the SC and ST categories also show a steady but slightly declining figure with expected cut-offs being 49–52. This suggests a more competitive environment and potentially harder exam difficulty in 2025.'
The JEE Advanced cut-offs depend on multiple factors. The number of total candidates appearing JEE Main exam, availability of seats at the participating institutions, previous year's trends and the difficulty level of the exam play an important role in deciding the cut-off.
The academic desk at Vidyamandir Classes, however, has anticipated these cut-off marks:
The copy of the candidate's JEE Advanced responses will be available on the website on May 22. The provisional answer key will be displayed on May 26. The feedback and comments on provisional answer keys will be recorded from May 26 to 27. As per IIT Kanpur's notification, online declaration of final answer key and results will be released on June 2.

Be curious, creative and critical in thinking, Cognizant co-founder tells IIT graduates
Lakshmi Narayanan, co-founder of Cognizant and Chancellor of KREA University, called upon young graduates to nurture curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking as they step into the next phase of life. Speaking at the seventh convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology-Tirupati (IIT-T) on Sunday, he emphasised the importance of being unique and different from the rest. 'Always pay attention to diverse perspectives, lend a hand to those in need and speak up for what is right. Write your own stories and be the heroes of those stories,' he advised the graduating students. To inspire the young audience, Mr. Narayanan cited the example of Ole Kirk Kristiansen, a skilled carpenter who built the world-renowned Lego brand by taking the path less travelled. JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, also Chairman of IIT-T's Board of Governors, highlighted India's major policy thrusts in technology and service sectors. He underscored the importance of the 'Viksit Bharat' vision of transforming India into a developed nation, achievable only through the collective dedication and perseverance of all citizens. In his annual report, IIT-T Director K.N. Satyanarayana spoke of the institute's progress, including the completion of its permanent campus and significant developments in academic and research initiatives. A total of 417 degrees were awarded during the ceremony: 212 91 53 16 MPP, 13 MS (Research), 28 PhD, one dual degree, one MS (Research)-PhD dual degree, one diploma, and one certificate in Foundations in Engineering Sciences. Eighteen students were presented with medals and prizes. Arvind Srinivasan received the President's Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance, while Mega Varshini was awarded the Governor's Prize for excellence in both curricular and extracurricular activities among the 2025 batch.

India set to manufacture first commercial-scale semiconductor chip; IIT students design 20 chipsets
This is an AI-generated image, used for representational purposes only. India is inching closer to a major milestone in its semiconductor journey, with the country expected to produce its first commercial-scale, made-in-India semiconductor chip this year. Union electronics and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement on Saturday while addressing the 14th convocation ceremony of IIT-Hyderabad. According to Vaishnaw, students from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have designed 20 chipsets so far. Of these, eight have already been 'taped out', a term used for the final design stage before fabrication and sent to global foundries and the government-run Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL) in Mohali for production. The SCL, established in 1976, remains operational, though it currently functions on legacy technology nodes. The minister said that India is expected to produce its first commercial-scale, made-in-India semiconductor chip this year, underlining the government's push to build a full-stack semiconductor ecosystem, from design and fabrication to equipment and materials. 'The way we are going into the building of capital equipment and materials needed to build semiconductors, India will become one of the top-5 semiconductor nations in the coming years', he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo As per ET, the students were supported by the government's India Semiconductor Mission, which has provided the latest electronic design automation (EDA) tools to 270 colleges and 70 startups across the country. At IIT-Hyderabad alone, more than 700 students have used these tools for over 300,000 hours in the past six months. Currently, India has six semiconductor fabrication plants (fabs) either approved or under development. These new-generation fabs are expected to significantly boost the country's capability, while the existing SCL in Mohali continues to play a vital role in legacy tech development. The minister also highlighted progress in the artificial intelligence domain. He said that AIKosh, the government's open-source AI platform, now has 880 datasets and over 200 AI models. These resources are accessible to students, researchers, and startups to aid innovation. Vaishnaw pointed out that India's growth in electronics manufacturing has translated into strong economic results. 'India's electronics exports have crossed $40 billion,' he said, noting this marks an eight-fold rise in 11 years. He further said, 'In just 11 years, we have increased our electronics production six times. That's a CAGR in double digits, which any corporate would be envious of.'
