Watch Elephants Use This 'Unique' Ability In Response To San Diego Earthquake

Yahoo15-04-2025
A herd of African elephants had each others' backs at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park on Monday as a 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook Southern California on Monday morning. (Check out the clip below.)
The elephants, in a clip posted to the park's social media channels, formed what the park dubbed a 'circle of trust' as they swiftly moved closer to one another and around youngsters in the herd.
'Elephants have the unique ability to feel sounds through their feet and formed what is known as an 'alert circle,'' the San Diego Zoo Safari Park noted in the post's caption.
The response by the herd — composed of Ndlula, Umngani and Khosi, as well as youngsters Zuli and Mkhaya — is tied to a 'natural response to perceived threats that helps protect younger elephants and the herd as a whole,' the park noted.
The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance told San Diego's NBC affiliate that the clip demonstrates the 'strong social family structure in elephant herds.'
The herd went back to 'business as usual' after roughly four minutes and are now 'safe' along with other crew members with the wildlife alliance, according to the park.
The park — which eight African elephants call home — was among a number of places shaken up by the quake with an epicenter just south of the community of Julian, which is roughly 60 miles northeast of San Diego.
Several lesser-magnitude aftershocks were also reported, per the U.S. Geological Survey.

Grimm Reboot: Elizabeth Tulloch Offers ‘Exciting' Update on Potential Peacock Series — Would She Return?

It's been seven months since news first broke of a Grimm reboot being developed at Peacock, and we've been practically woging with anticipation ever since. So when TVLine recently connected with original series star Elizabeth Tulloch, we couldn't resist asking for an update, and the woman formerly known as Juliette (or Eve, depending on the day) was happy to oblige. More from TVLine Suzanne Rogers Exiting Days of Our Lives...?! Rep Addresses Wild Rumor Peyton Meyer Exits Days of Our Lives: Did Doug Williams Redeem Himself Before Leaving Salem? Days of Our Lives Snags Two-Season Renewal at Peacock, Keeping It Streaming Through 2028 'I know there's a script being written, and I know that David [Giuntoli] met with them,' Tulloch tells us. 'I don't think they would do a reboot or a spinoff or whatever it's going to be without David's involvement.' Grimm originally aired for six seasons (2011–2017) on NBC, starring Giuntoli as Nick Burkhardt, a detective who descends from a long line of Grimms — aka slayers of fairytale monsters known as Wesen. 'It's pretty exciting,' Tulloch says of the show's still-growing fanbase, which she attributes to the show's multiple streaming homes. 'A lot of people are sort of finding Grimm. We did 123 episodes, and it has like 90% on Rotten Tomatoes still.' As for whether Tulloch would like to reprise one or both of her roles in a potential continuation of Grimm… you'll have to watch the interview: In addition to Giuntoli and Tulloch, Grimm also starred Claire Coffee, Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz and Jacqueline Toboni. The series was created by David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, who also served as co-showrunners. Both are reportedly involved in Peacock's potential reboot, along with original series producers Lynn Kouf, Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television. Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva, CSI, The Blacklist) is writing and executive-producing the new series. At the time of the original report, a rep for Peacock told TVLine that it had no additional information to share. Hit PLAY on the video above to watch TVLine's interview with Tulloch, then drop a comment with your dream project below. Are you hoping for a direct continuation in which Nick passes the torch to a new Grimm? Or perhaps you'd rather get a spinoff following specific characters? Stephen Colbert is just the latest in a long line of CBS hosts to bite the dust

Network stars 'left' to wither CBS. Columbia Broadcasting System. Being nicknamed: Cannot Be Sustained. It's financial problems. It got stuck with a Donald Trump lawsuit over Kamala. Settled for $16 mil. It's ratings struggles. Staff trimming. Cost cutting. Had a squabble with YouTube TV. Obama's probably already discussed it with Russia. There's now a body count with whom they've played musical chairs. Knocked off — if not out — Norah O'Donnell unseated. How about Charlie Rose, Paula Zahn, Letterman, James Corden, Katie Couric, Bianna Golodryga who went to CNN, Connie Chung? Some morning hosts have been vaporized. Advertisement Listen, the drums are even beating for Gayle King whom we all love more than the Statue of Liberty. We're talking the once home of 'the most trusted man in America' Walter Cronkite. It was Dan Rather, a Peabody Award, '60 Minutes,' 'Blue Bloods,' Andy Griffith, 'Green Acres,' 'Hogan's Heroes.' Latest lurch was vaporizing lefty Stephen Colbert. Even Jay Leno — whose own talk show on NBC had ground on since Thomas Jefferson played potsy with that mistress — weighed in saying semi nice things about Colbert. He was able. Did a good job. But just not exactly my cup because even my car doesn't turn left. Advertisement One misery is that nobody but repairmen watch network stuff anymore. All's the same. Everyone blond. Each female's hair hangs down either one side or both to the crotch. They read pre-printed words. Some mispronouncing the country as Eye-rack. Many of us have actually been there. Worked there. And in between bombing and hunger and terrifying reports they're boring. It's cooking lessons. Or political correctness gone nuts. Seemed to overlook that Donald is now PRESIDENT. What lump did he want to see sitting in charge? The ex-bartender with the hair's center part and three AOC initials? Bernie Sanders whose spit reaches to the Middle East? Ventriloquist Jill who wants to be called 'doctor' but whose lone patient quivers in the basement? Advertisement Think. Letterman? Cranky. But not hatred. He would book O'Reilly and maneuver his zingers but demean nobody. Leno's show on NBC? Stand-up comic. Not into political peeing. His successor Fallon once rumpled Donald's hair. Kimmel? No. Watch. ABC's next to corral the extremists. Fast lane living So let me tell you about my lovely summer New York day. A friend drove me to her place upstate. Coming home? A hired car. Stopped dead — dead — a doornail was less dead — in the middle of the bumper-to-bumper crowded highway. Gone. Went to heaven — or in my case hell — middle of the multilane highway. Brakes screeching. Horns honking. Drivers cursing. 'I fix,' said the driver in Urdu or whateverthehell language. I'm perspiring in a no-air-conditioning back seat. Forget chatting with my driver who has now jacked up our vehicle with my behind higher than Mt. Rushmore. Can't crawl out because I'll be hit by some car racing to get home. Eventually he's back, perspired, and says, 'No fix.' Advertisement Nice. Cops by now surround my car and want to know what I'm doing there. l also want to know what I'm doing there. Fortunately they recognized me, put me in a cop car and took me someplace where I could climb into another vehicle — that actually moved — to take me home. East Side, West Side, all around the town — unless you're coming from upstate. Listen, I'm not one to complain about my original driver. I only say that if we'd been in the Middle East, we'd have come home on a dented camel. Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
