Is Priyanka Chopra Making Her Bollywood Comeback With Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love And War?

Priyanka Chopra's recent throwback post about Ram Chahe Leela has sparked major speculation about her return to Bollywood. It's been a while since Priyanka Chopra graced the Hindi film screen — six years, to be precise. Ever since the global icon shifted base to the US in 2015, she's made only two Bollywood appearances, the most recent being The Sky Is Pink in 2019. But if recent speculation is to be believed, the desi girl might just be on the cusp of a long-awaited homecoming. On Friday, Chopra set the internet abuzz with a rare throwback post on Instagram — a tribute to her fiery dance number Ram Chahe Leela from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013). What stood out wasn't just the choice of memory but the unusually long, heartfelt caption that accompanied it — a rarity for the actor when it comes to revisiting past work. Sharing an insight into how the iconic number came to be, Priyanka wrote, 'When Sanjay Sir came to me with this song, it was a complicated decision, but he, as a filmmaker, has always inspired me. His creative mind, his nostalgic stories usually over incredible food, the conversations of art and music to dance… the beauty of the yesteryears but also what the future holds. And then he played the song… and I knew I was her." She went on to recall working with choreographer Vishnu Deva and cinematographer Ravi Varman, adding, 'Under Sanjay sir's guidance, Ravi Varman's cinematography shone, and Vishnu Deva's choreography was magic. Him and I would rehearse during lunch breaks every day to perfect the dance sequences. This brings back such great memories." While the post read like a sentimental throwback, it also sparked intense speculation online. Industry insiders began to wonder: Was this more than just nostalgia? Now, a source has confirmed to Hindustan Times that the post may, in fact, be a subtle nod to something on the horizon — a possible special appearance in Bhansali's next directorial, Love & War. According to the source, Priyanka may feature in a high-octane special number in the period war drama, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. While nothing has been officially signed yet, discussions are reportedly underway. If the collaboration materialises, it would mark Chopra's grand return to Hindi cinema — and that too with the very filmmaker who gave her one of her most celebrated dance numbers. Love & War, currently under production, is slated for release on March 20, 2026, and is being mounted on an epic scale. Reports suggest Bhansali is planning a face-off sequence between Ranbir and Vicky that could rival some of the most iconic scenes in Indian cinema history. Meanwhile, Priyanka is also committed to a major Indian production — SSMB29, her upcoming pan-India film with SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu. The ambitious venture also features Prithviraj Sukumaran, though the release date remains under wraps. The film is being pegged as one of the most anticipated cinematic events of the decade. Harold and Kumar actor Kal Penn says he learnt Hindi by watching Saath Nibhaana Saathiya: ‘It is super addictive with ridiculous plot lines'

While many of us thought Gopi Bahu (from Saath Nibhaana Saathiya) had a limited reach to maybe the housewives of Indian households, we were all introduced to the show's characters when they made it to the internet. It received a whole wide recognition when Yashraj Mukhate created an interesting mix and the whole India just asked: Rasode mein kaun tha! It seems that Hollywood actor Kal Penn was an early adopter to the show and it was his Hindi tutor. The actor-comedian recently appeared as a guest on Express Adda, a platform for candid conversations hosted by The Indian Express Group. During the conversation with Anant Goenka, Executive Director of The Indian Express Group, Kal Penn shared his love for Indian shows. While comparing Indian, Korean and American shows, Kal accepted he is more versed in American shows. He confessed if given a chance he would want to appear on TMKOC and the Netflix show Delhi Crime. He shared, 'I got to know Asit Modi a couple of years ago and I did a set visit to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and I was geeking out over this–it is like one of the most watched shows on the planet. It is not everybody's palate, and very different from Delhi Crime. But, you look at it what India is turning out and the spectrum of voices and content… I be like, 'this is so cool.' I want to be on both shows. I would love to do episodes of Delhi Crime.' ALSO READ | Kal Penn says payment was so delayed while working on an Indian film, he had to stop showing up: 'Bollywood actors told me you're not going to get paid unless you stop coming' When asked to choose between Smriti Irani's Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 and forever-running Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Kal Penn had a very interesting answer. He shared, 'This is hard because Hindi is not my first language. It is English and then Gujarati. But one of the ways that I started trying to learn Hindi was through episodes of Saath Nibhana Saathiya.' He explained, 'Because the level of Hindi is accessible to somebody who is learning Hindi. They have super addictive ridiculous plot lines. So I will go with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.' Kal Penn, born as Kalpen Suresh Modi, is an American actor with Indian origin. He is known for his roles in Harold & Kumar, House, and brief appearance on the popular show How I Met Your Mother, among others. He is also an author and former White House staff member in the Barack Obama administration. Meanwhile, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, is one of the longest running shows in India with 2181 episodes. It first aired in May 2010 and ended in July 2017.
