15 Stylish Ways to Try the Gingham Print Trend This Summer—Shop Everlane, Quince, and More, From $10
If you, too, have been obsessed with the gingham trend this season, keep scrolling. Ahead, I've gathered 15 gingham shorts, dresses, skirts, tops, and accessories that you'll want to pack for all of your summer adventures. Handpicked from some of my go-to travel clothing brands, including Everlane, Quince, and J.Crew Factory, these styles are lightweight, comfortable, seriously cute, and well under $100 each—all important qualities to consider when shopping for new clothes, in my opinion.
Behold—my new favorite summer shorts! These red gingham shorts from Anrabess are lightweight, comfy, and absolutely adorable to boot. I was skeptical at first about how well they'd fit; I'm 5-foot-9, have large thighs, and I float between a size 14 and 16, so buying clothes on Amazon can be a gamble. Multiple positive five-star reviews from other curvy gals convinced me to buy them anyway in my regular XL shorts size, and I'm so glad I did.
These gingham shorts are long enough to fully cover my derriere, while still showing off my legs. Now that I've tried these trendy $10 shorts out for myself, I've already repurchased them in three other colors.
These adorable gingham ballet flats are practically begging to be worn with a flowy, white sundress. Made with a breathable mesh material and a roomy, rounded toe box, these flats will keep you cool and comfortable on warm, sunny days. Choosing between the red gingham and blue gingham prints might be difficult, but I've got great news: They're on major sale right now, up to 65 percent off. That means you can buy both the blue and red styles for $26 less than the original price of one pair. You're welcome! $44 $27 at Nordstromrack.com
Statement bags are a great way to dip your foot into a trend without fully committing your outfit to them. This mini shoulder bag from Baggu has an adjustable strap, a full zipper opening, and is crafted with a recycled ripstop nylon fabric that's durable, machine-washable, and easy to wipe clean. On sale for just $27, this minty-green gingham bag offers a fun, funky break away from the more common gingham colors of red, blue, black, and yellow.
J.Crew is a treasure trove of classic Americana designs, so it's no surprise that the brand has a variety of high-quality gingham staples to choose from. One of my favorite styles from the bunch is this long-sleeved button-down shirt, which is on sale right now for under $50. Carried up to a size 3XL, this breezy shirt is made with 100 percent cotton and has a timeless silhouette that will stand the test of time. Tuck it into linen trousers, or layer it on over a tank top and shorts—however you decide to style it, you can't go wrong with this gingham button-down.
Available in 10 summery pastel gingham prints—including light pink, sky blue, and butter yellow—this stretchy, flowy sundress may just be the comfiest way to hop on the gingham dress bandwagon. Amazon shoppers of all heights, shapes, and sizes have given this dress a five-star rating for fit, thanks to its size range, stretchy bodice, and midi length.
One reviewer wrote that the smocked chest was accommodating for her large bust, and another reviewer shared that the tiered skirt was a flattering shape for her apple-shaped figure. One reviewer who was 32 weeks pregnant even wrote that it was both petite- and baby bump-friendly.
Gingham is a print typically reserved for casual summer affairs, but these wide-leg gingham pants from Everlane have a polished silhouette that can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Made with a unique blend of European flax linen, viscose, and elastane, these roomy pants tout even more comfort thanks to their stretchy fabric. Previously $158, these flowy gingham pants are on sale for just $79. $60 $30 at Nordstromrack.com
Featuring billowy bubble sleeves, a scoop neckline, and an ultra-stretchy waist, this darling smocked blouse is the easiest way to dress up a pair of denim cutoffs. Currently on sale for 50 percent off, this top comes in three gingham prints—blue, red, and black—and has a cropped length that looks chic against high-waist pants, skirts, and shorts. $128 $30 at Nordstromrack.com
Whether you're strolling through cobblestone streets abroad or heading to a neighborhood cookout, this navy maxi skirt is bound to catch a few compliments. Made with a lightweight linen fabric, this ankle-length gingham dress is functional and comfortable, too, thanks to deep side pockets and an elastic, adjustable drawstring waistband. Previously $128, this Max Studio gingham skirt is an absolute steal right now at 76 percent off, marking its final price down to just $30.
This fitted tank top combines two of my favorite qualities of Quince clothes: High-quality fabrics and simple designs. Made with 100 percent European linen, this wear-everywhere tank top has a flattering square neckline and a smocked panel at the back that stretches with you while you move. 'This top is perfect for mixing and matching all summer long,' wrote one five-star reviewer. 'I've worn it with skirts and shorts, and it instantly dresses up my style.' $92 $55 at Nordstromrack.com
This Wishlist midi dress combines two of my favorite trends of the year: Milkmaid dresses and gingham prints. On sale for $55, this dress has a corset-like middle that won't actually cut off your airflow thanks to a large, stretchy smock panel on the back. The structured bodice, tie-front detail, and A-line skirt add even more delicate touches to this romantic milkmaid style. $188 $50 at Nordstromrack.com

I just became a mom — after 20 years of marriage: Amy Correa Bell on her long path to parenthood with Ricky Bell
"Everyone's wondering why we waited so long." Actress, singer, songwriter and model Amy Correa Bell married singer Ricky Bell (of New Edition and Bel Biv Devoe fame) in 2004. It would be another 15 years before the couple started thinking about having a child, followed by a few more years spent trying to conceive. This past May 13, more than 20 years after their wedding, Correa Bell, 43, gave birth to their first baby, a girl named Mercy Mae. The new mom announced the birth in a Father's Day post paying tribute to Bell, a first-time dad at 57. In this interview with Yahoo's Maressa Brown, she opens up about her journey to motherhood, the ways in which welcoming their daughter has changed her marriage and how she's getting to know a whole new version of herself. When we got married, I was 22 and Ricky was 36. We wanted to enjoy having a fun time as a married couple. We were supporting one another's careers and taking time away to travel. We were like, 'Hey, let's just enjoy this first part of our marriage without the extra responsibility,' so we weren't trying to have children for a long time. We did have two cats we raised for 15 years, so at the time, those were our babies. When I was growing up in the early 2000s, a lot of managers at the time — as well as different people in our life — convinced me that having a child would stop my creativity or stop my career. So when we first got married, we thought, Hey, if it happens naturally, cool, but let's not try for a while — until we're both ready. It wasn't until 2019 that we decided to actually start trying. After trying to conceive for three years, I realized I had to start taking better care of myself I've always felt like I was a mom — we've had children in our life and are cat parents — but I began to feel strongly that I wanted my own child. For the first three years of trying, I thought I could do all the things I used to do — going from auditions to the recording studio and back again, running around, always busy — and just get pregnant. But in the entertainment industry, everything moves really fast, and it's very stressful. There are really high ups and really low lows. I think in order to get pregnant, you have to be very chill, at peace and not have a lot of things that are causing stress. That's so hard to do in this industry. Finally, when I turned 40, I was like, 'I have to slow down.' Life got a lot more serious, and my health and how I took care of myself — what I put into my body — really mattered. [I stopped] eating things that were not healthy for me [and started] cutting out alcohol, cutting out any form of smoking — anything like that was off the table. I just focused more on being a happy and chill person. Looking back, I really wish someone had told me in my 20s, 'I know you guys aren't ready yet, but why don't you freeze your eggs?' It has been quite a journey. We have had some setbacks and heartbreaks leading up to me actually getting pregnant that really took us out and took us some time to get over. The timing of our pregnancy felt fated Last year, right around our 20th wedding anniversary, which is also Ricky's birthday, we found out we were expecting. It was a birthday present and an anniversary present — it was like God's perfect timing. When I got pregnant, I felt a new hope and excitement about love, about the unknown. I had a new confidence that I could do this. At the same time I also had a fear of something going wrong, because it was my first time being pregnant. [It feels like] you can't even share that you're pregnant until you're past the four- or five-month mark, because you go to a [doctor's] appointment, and they're like, 'Oh, let's make sure your baby has all the right bones,' and 'Let's make sure they're growing right.' That led to having a different awareness and caution with everything I was doing, including who I was hanging out with, what I was eating, the music I was listening to, the shows I was watching on TV. I usually like scary movies, but when I was pregnant, I was like, Nope, can't do it. I'm also normally a very social, extroverted person, but when I got pregnant, I loved being alone. I thought I was going to be sharing my baby bump every month and hanging out with friends, and I just was like, I don't want to be around anyone. I don't want to share this. This is private. I got off social media for the first time in my life. And I told Ricky, 'This must be the personality of our baby. She's a little more personal and quiet.' Since welcoming our daughter, I feel like a different person When we had the baby (Mercy Mae — her middle name is the same as Ricky's late mother), the things that I used to care about and worry about in regards to my future did not matter to me anymore. I found a new sense of purpose and destiny. The people who truly care about me will make time, and the things that are really important to me will come at me in an honoring way. My boundaries became very clear, and I have a new respect for myself and a new value of what I bring to the table in life and in my friendships. I don't really settle for anything less than what I feel is right for me and my family. What I didn't realize about motherhood was that my entire personality and character were going to change. I feel like there's a new Amy here, like I didn't exist before this. I am not Amy from three months ago, or even from before I was pregnant. I changed once I got pregnant, and then I had another life change once I had her. Now, I know that having a kid enhances your abilities and your career, because it brings you more depth, and it gives you a different sense of purpose. Now I'm more motivated to do music. I'm inspired, and I have way more things to talk about. And any time I have away from my daughter now, like to do music, I really cherish it. I'm just like, Oh my God, I have two hours to make a song, whereas I took it for granted before. I'm also loving breastfeeding, which is something I wasn't expecting to be able to do or even enjoy. That's been a beautiful journey. Parenthood has also transformed my marriage to Ricky There's a new love — a new connection — between Ricky and me now as well. After having been married for over 20 years, we have our rhythm, so it's been a little bit of an adjustment. But we're in a new era of our relationship. When you're with someone for that long, you're not the same people you were when you met. You keep evolving, so it's kind of like I have a new husband right now. Beyond being married, we're best friends, and we've been able to just accept each other and each other's flaws, and we're open to learning who we are today and not having all these expectations to be perfect. In the midst of the pregnancy and welcoming Mercy, we both gave each other grace to have our moments. Now we're accomplishing so much being parents. I'm more in love with him today than I was a year ago, because seeing him as a dad is definitely a turn-on. He's the best dad ever. He's so sweet, he's so caring, and even when he has to travel, he helps out so much with the baby. He definitely wants to be present for every moment. The difficult part is having time just for us. We have to schedule that and plan that now, whether we want to have a date night, time to cuddle or to just hang out. I now understand why we had to wait so long It's been wild, because our relationship is in the public eye, and everyone's wondering why we waited so long, and we're so old. But we feel like it wasn't up to us. It's just God, and we're so grateful. We were always meant to become parents at this time. Rick and I both have been through so much in our individual lives. We've grown a lot spiritually, mentally and emotionally, and we're in a place now where our priorities are very clear. Mercy is the most important thing in our lives right now. Not how much money we're making, not what job is coming next. Our only concern is just being great parents. If it had happened sooner, would we have had the same mindset? I don't know. A lot of people say that when you have a baby, everything moves fast. So I've been really enjoying every day, and trying to make time go slow. I'm enjoying seeing Mercy just grow up. How's she going to be at 1? How's she going to be at 3, at 5? What about the first time she laughs, and what's the first word she's going to say? And I never thought I'd say this, but I'm open to having one more. I'm curious to see if God will bless us in that way where she'll have a sibling. Either way it goes, I'll be grateful, but I'm excited about the unknown. This has been edited for length and clarity. Solve the daily Crossword

Alison Brie Making Her Directorial Debut With Female-Driven Horror Film She Co-Wrote With Alice Stanley Jr. — GeekTyrant
Alison Brie is coming off her latest acting gig in the horror film Together , in which she starred opposite her husband, Dave Franco. Her next undertaking is another horror flick, but this time, she will make her directorial premiere. Brie wrote the script for the film alongside Alice Stanley Jr., and they describe the story as being 'female-forward' with 'very fun energy.' Brie talked to Marie Claire about the project, and explained, 'While we were writing it, I felt like I was writing it to direct it. I could see every shot in my head. I think women carry a lot of self-doubt and we have a desire to make everything perfect before we attempt something, or we learn everything we can learn. You want to really check the boxes and go, am I prepared for this? And at a certain point you have to just take the leap and believe in yourself.' Stanley, who previously wrote for Busy Philipps' E! talk show Busy Tonight in 2019, made Out In Hollywood's Out Loud List last year for her unproduced TV pilot script Twin Pinks . Brie previously directed a 2019 episode of her Netflix series GLOW . via: Deadline

Celebs Keep Wearing These Surprisingly Affordable Sneakers—Including Hoka, Brooks, Adidas, and More From $60
I used to exclusively cover celebrity fashion, so I'm well-versed in Hollywood's most popular brands. Oftentimes, celebrity street style is unattainably high-end, but sneakers are one place where affordability shines. In fact, many celebrities wear the same sneakers I frequently spot at the airport. If you're shopping for comfortable sneakers that are stylish enough for your vacation wardrobe, celebrity-worn shoes are ideal options. We've searched high and low for the best star-studded styles, and now, we're sharing eight top picks from Hoka, Brooks, Adidas, and more. Prices start at just $60. In the past, I've been hesitant to rock all-black sneakers, but Natalie Portman has me forgetting why. These Hoka Clifton 9 GTX Sneakers are beloved for their arch support and comfortable cushioning, and thanks to the black design, they will look brand-new after countless adventures. They're available in more colorful designs, too, although I'm partial to Portman's pair that will fit seamlessly into my travel capsule wardrobe. Bellocqimages/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images / Amazon Jennifer Garner is constantly spotted in comfy Brooks sneakers, and she owns multiple pairs of the Brooks Glycerin 21 shoes. You can buy the newest version of this sneaker in 22 different colors at Amazon. One reviewer wore them for over 10 hours per day on vacation and described them as 'walking on pillows.' I love this pink colorway that reminds me of Garner's pair, but if you're shopping for sneakers that go with literally everything, the all-white version is just as stylish. Roy Rochlin / Getty Images for Prada / Amazon Pretty much every celebrity has worn Adidas Sambas by now, but I'm particularly inspired by how Katie Holmes styled them. The retro sneakers add a personal feel to an otherwise simple outfit, along with her bold pink crossbody. This look is so easy to recreate with your favorite jeans and white tee, and it's stylish enough for even the chicest summer destination. Samir Hussein/WireImage / Amazon If you're seeking style inspiration for a European vacation, Kate Middleton is a worthy muse. Her outfits are sophisticated and easy to recreate, and she is often spotted in brands T+L editors love. Case in point: these versatile Veja sneakers. The elevated cream colorway adds a sophisticated touch to any casual outfit, so these sneakers would pair well with summer dresses and denim cut-offs alike. One shopper wore them every day on a five-week European vacation and loved how comfortable they were. Plus, they are super easy to wipe clean thanks to the leather exterior. Rachpoot/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images / Amazon When I think style icon, I think of Sofia Richie, and this elevated outfit is a prime example of why. She paired the colorful Reebok Classic AZ Sneakers with pleated trousers and a patent bag, transforming these $68 sneakers into an ensemble that looks much more high-end. This retro pair wasn't on my radar before Richie sported them, but I've officially added them to my cart. One reviewer even raved that these comfortable shoes 'required no breaking in,' and they loved them so much that they purchased a second pair. I predict that these sneakers are the next big thing, so snag yours before word gets out. Instagram @reesewitherspoon / Amazon Reese Witherspoon's brand Draper James collaborated with Tretorn to design these chunky green sneakers she sported on Instagram. While her exact pair is no longer available, you can get the look at Amazon with these nostalgic canvas Tretorn sneakers. The reviews are filled with customers who loved Tretorns in the '80s, and according to one shopper, they're just as comfortable as they remember. They're unique, versatile, and perfect for summer travel. Plus, they're the most affordable celeb-worn sneaker we've found. Marc Piasecki / WireImage / Nordstrom The Puma Speedcat Og Sneakers are the latest 'it' shoe, and who better to wear them than it-girl Dua Lipa? The shoe has also been spotted on Rihanna, if that gives you any indication of its top-tier status. These sneakers are versatile enough to pair with just about anything in your wardrobe, while still looking unique enough to set you apart from your fellow travelers. They're available in 12 colors, including easy-to-style neutrals and statement hues. Michael Buckner / Variety via Getty Images / Cariuma Cariuma shoes' sleek and timeless design makes them easy to style for just about any occasion, as evidenced by Gabrielle Union sporting the Oca Low Sneakers on the red carpet. The brand has an impressive celebrity fanbase, including Helen Mirren, Naomi Watts, and Brooke Shields. These classic sneakers are comfortable enough for long travel days, with a cork footbed and slip-resistant rubber outsole. They have earned over 9,000 five-star ratings, and some reviewers even report purchasing them multiple times. Snag yours for just $89, and you'll be glad to have this timeless white sneaker in your collection. Love a great deal?
