'We're going to have a UFC fight. We're going to have a UFC fight — think of this — on the grounds of the White House,' the president told his supporters, adding: 'We have a lot of land there.' Trump said UFC President Dana White will build the setup for the event and added it's going to be a 'championship fight, full fight, like 20,000 to 25,000 people, and we're going to do that as part of '250' also.' White reshared a video of the president's announcement on Instagram and wrote, 'This will be EPIC,' while the official UFC page asked followers, 'Who would you like to see headline the event?' In addition to the UFC event, Trump also said he plans to host a competition called the 'Patriot Games' as part of the 'America 250 celebration,' which will invite 'top high school athletes from all 50 states to participate in a nationally televised sporting event.' Trump has been a regular attendee at UFC fighting events in recent years. Most recently, the president attended the UFC 316 event last month, held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Trump was also in attendance at UFC 314, which took place in April at Miami's Kaseya Center, alongside Elon Musk and several cabinet members. White has been a long-time supporter of Trump and has spoken at several of his rallies and events. During his announcement on Thursday, Trump praised the UFC President and said, 'Dana is great, one of a kind.'

When Apple and Formula One teamed for its pricey tentpole F1: The Movie, they hoped for a mutually beneficial relationship. The Brad Pitt film from Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski would attract new fans to the sport, while F1 fanatics would flock to theaters and boost the box office. It seems like a good bet; F1 has grown in popularity in recent years, particularly making strides with women, thanks to the Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive, which has chronicled the drama on and off the track since 2019. Now, just a day away from its June 27 release, a key question is about to be answered: will F1 fans accept the film, or will it be seen as too 'Hollywood' — a not quite authentic version of a racing sport that already delivers plenty of drama in real life? 'We are looking at it as Formula 1 drivers, and we always try and see all the small details that are not exactly [accurate], but it's just very Hollywood-like and I think that's really cool because it's not for F1 drivers, it's for a broader audience,' said Charles Leclerc, Scuderia Ferrari driver, according to Williams Racing driver Carlos Sainz Jr. shared a similar sentiment. 'You can tell they're a bit Hollywood-esque. I truly believe that it will attract a lot of new audiences, and it will do very well for the people that don't know anything about Formula 1,' he admitted. 'For the hardcore fan and for journalists, we will see things that might be a bit too American or a bit too Hollywood. But honestly, I enjoyed the whole film.' For the past year, F1 fans have already been giving their critiques based on videos posted on social media during Grand Prix weekends throughout the 2024 racing season, where filming occurred on weekends. One dramatic scene shot in Las Vegas in November saw one of the actors pass out after leaving his wrecked car. This was quickly criticized by some fans, as real-life drivers aren't typically seen collapsing on the ground outside their cars following a wreck. Case in point: in a horrific crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean's car was split in half and engulfed in flames. But even he didn't collapse, but instead managed to walk away with only minor burns, as well as being dubbed 'the man who walked out of fire.' Race attendees also captured Pitt standing on the podium's top step while they were filming a scene at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December, with Leclerc in second and Russell (Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver) in third. (Yes, the production did in fact make Leclerc and Russell come back out to film the fake podium ceremony right after the real one occurred with McLaren driver Lando Norris on the top step.) Also at issue: some real-life F1 supporters may have a tough time believing 61-year-old Pitt could beat younger talent, as in real life, the current oldest racing driver on the grid is 43-year-old Fernando Alonso (who currently drives for Aston Martin). While he has won 32 F1 races and two World Championships throughout his career, his last race win was over a decade ago at the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix. Still, the film has a lot going for it in its pedigree. Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer struck gold three years ago with the film that topped $1.49 billion globally and credibly showed off the thrills of aerial combat. The selling point for F1 is that they've done the same for driving, with the production touting stars Damson Idris and Pitt's real skills on the racetrack. While F1: The Movie focuses on Pitt and Idris' characters, real-life drivers also make several appearances throughout. Though it makes you wonder if fans seeing their favorite drivers on the big screen will be a distraction or help with the continuity. Personally, I'm never mad when McLaren driver Lando Norris pops up on my screen. The film also boasts seven-time World Champion and current Scuderia Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton as a producer. Hamilton has praised the film as the 'most authentic racing movie that's ever been made.' He also said the film's creative team listened to his insights for small details, from 'the sounds a car would make when it's at a certain position on the track or the way a crash might happen.' F1 is looking to notch a solid start at the box office, with predictions estimating a domestic opening of $40 million to $50 million. And has earned strong reviews, which give it high marks for its feeling of authenticity. As Lovia Gyarkye wrote for The Hollywood Reporter: 'The strongest scenes in F1 … are these moments during race weekends, when Kosinki embeds his fictional team with real ones.' Concludes the critic: 'Of course, there are some unrealistic elements in F1, bits that might have sticklers raising an eyebrow, but the film doesn't feel any less dramatic than the real thing.' Diddy insider Mark Geragos admits 'the only thing' that surprised him about the verdict
Sean "Diddy" Combs was acquitted Wednesday of racketeering and sex trafficking charges following a two-month-long federal trial. Backed by a "dream team" group of defense lawyers, the rapper was facing life in prison if convicted of the three charges, but a jury handed down a guilty verdict on two of the lesser charges of transportation to engage in prostitution. High-profile criminal defense lawyer Mark Geragos – a longtime Diddy acquaintance and father of lead attorney, Teny Geragos – closely followed the case, and told Fox News Digital that the jury "absolutely" made the right decision. More than 10 hours into deliberations, the 12-person jury told Judge Arun Subramanian Tuesday that "unpersuadable" opinions prevented them from reaching a unanimous verdict on the biggest charge. Multiple notes were passed to the court from the jurors, with Judge Subramanian ultimately advising continued deliberations until a verdict was reached. While it was unclear at the time what the verdict was, Geragos admitted to feeling somewhat uneasy. "When I heard they were hung on the RICO and had verdicts on the other four, at first I was not confident until I read the note," Geragos said. "Once I read that note, I figured at that point that they would … I thought that they would hang on because, you know, they use the term, unpersuadeable jurors on both sides. "That indicated to me that they had split the verdicts on the other four counts. The only thing that surprised me is how quickly they came back on the RICO with a not guilty." The following morning, roughly two hours into deliberations, jurors reached a verdict and found Diddy not guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, with guilty verdicts on both counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The judge joked that he assumed Diddy did not want to return to MDC Brooklyn, to which the rapper shook his head very exaggeratedly and then looked up with his hands together as if praying. After the judge left, Diddy knelt down with his arms on the chair in front of him. He then got up, faced the gallery and started clapping. The courtroom opened up in applause and cheers for him. WATCH: Criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos weighs in on Diddy trial A hearing next week will determine a sentencing date where Diddy could face up to 20 years in prison. The government requested a term between 51-63 months, while Diddy's defense is seeking a 21-27 month term. Still, Geragos guessed both of those numbers were far off base. "Frankly, I think this case isn't worth anywhere close to either of those calculations. But even if he gets it, he's a prime candidate for some of the federal programs that are out there actually initiated by this administration and this administration's prior iteration," Geragos said. "So there are programs there that he could take advantage of, and I'm sure he will. I mean he's had enormous amount of time – I call it a time out – and he's used it productively. He's reading, he's thinking, he is talking. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but I think in retrospect, when he's out, it'll be very, very productive." It's unclear when Diddy will be sentenced and what term he faces following the court victory, which Geragos chalked up to the defense team setting the framework before testimony even began. "I've always said that cases like this are won or lost in jury selection, and so I think that the jury selection was instrumental," Geragos said. "And then look, I'm biased. I think that my daughter delivered the opening statement and, frankly, from where I sat, and I watched it, I don't think the prosecution ever recovered from that opening statement. There are a lot of studies that say jurors make up their minds 90% of the time after the close of the opening statement." Geragos added, "And by the way, I don't want to denigrate Mark Agnifalo. He did a tour de force on that closing that had him literally rolling in the aisles. So it was a pretty amazing book end." During opening statements of Diddy's trial, which began on May 5, Teny asked the jury to consider the federal charges, not the choices of an at-times violent man. "Sean Combs is a complicated man, but this is not a complicated case," Teny told the court. "This case is about love, jealousy, infidelity and money. This case is about voluntary adult choices made by capable adults and consensual relationships. This case is about those real-life relationships, and the government is trying to turn those relationships into a racketeering case, a prostitution case and a sex trafficking case. It will not work." She noted that Diddy "has a bad temper" and at times gets "so angry or so jealous that he is out of control," but she emphasized that the "Victory" rapper was not charged with "being mean." "He is not charged with being a jerk. He's charged with running a racketeering enterprise," Teny said. "And though there was violence that you are going to hear about, you already have, that violence is not part of any RICO. That violence is not connected to sex trafficking and that violence is not prostitution."
