
Central Electricity Authority observes National Electrical Safety Week
The Central Electrical Authority (CEA) will observe the National Electrical Safety Week, which coincides with National Electrical Safety Day on June 26, said the Director of Electrical Safety G. Vijaya Lakshmi.
The CEA is organising the week-long campaign on the theme 'Smart Energy, Safe Nation', and the officers concerned will focus on safety aspects of emerging technologies such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Electric Vehicles (EVs), charging infrastructure and rooftop solar installations.
The event will serve as a national platform to bring together stakeholders from utilities, regulators, manufacturers, officers of the Directorate of Electrical Safety and the field technicians to discuss safety imperatives and showcase the emerging technologies.
Officers of the Directorate of Electrical Safety will visit factories, industries, multi-storied buildings, schools, hospitals, hotels, commercial establishments, agriculture fields and other areas during the National Electrical Safety Week, and explain safe electrical measures to prevent accidents, Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi said on Thursday.

Amber Group to Acquire Majority Stake in Power-One Micro Systems
Amber Group , a homegrown contract manufacturer for HVAC and consumer electronics, has entered into definitive agreements for acquiring majority stake in Bengaluru-based Power-One Micro Systems -based Power-One Micro Systems. Power-One is a manufacturer of solar inverters , uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), EV chargers and other power and energy solutions. "The transaction will enable the Amber group to foray into a rapidly growing segment of energy solutions including Solar inverter (on grid, off grid and hybrid), BESS, UPS, solar power plants and EV chargers and augment the Industrial segment of the Electronics Division of the Company," the company said. ILJIN Electronics India, a subsidiary of Amber Group, has entered into definitive agreements for taking a majority stake in PowerOne Micro Systems, which had a turnover of Rs 184.87 crore in FY'24. This deal will be on a "cash consideration." On valuation, Amber group said: "The acquisition of majority stake in the equity share capital of Power-One will be done at a mutually agreed value and will be disclosed separately post-closing." "This transaction will provide a strong foothold for Amber's Electronic Division into the rapidly growing sector for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), EV chargers, UPS and Solar inverter (on grid, off grid and hybrid) market," said Jasbir Singh, executive chairman and CEO of Amber Group.

Govt committed to building safe and smart energy future: Minister
The government is committed to building a safe and smart energy future through initiatives like rooftop solar, EV charging infrastructure , battery storage, and digital fault detection, Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, has stressed. The ' Electrical Safety Day ' is a powerful reminder to us as we transition towards a cleaner, smarter, and more digital energy ecosystem, safety must remain at the core of every advancement, the Power Minister said in a statement on Saturday. "Electricity empowers every facet of modern life - from homes and hospitals to industries and mobility - but it must be handled with utmost caution," Naik emphasised. Safety is a shared responsibility, and "I urge every citizen, technician, and stakeholder to remain vigilant and responsible. Together, let us build not just a Smart India, but a Safe India," he said at an event organised by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) in association with BSES. Naik highlighted the need for robust safety protocols to accompany India's rapid energy transition . Over 300 delegates from all corners of the energy sector - ranging from utilities and regulatory bodies, State Chief Electrical Inspectorate officers, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), OEMs, manufacturers, field technicians, and proactive energy users (prosumers) - attended the event, while large number of people viewing it virtually. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, said, "Safety in the power sector must be a core value - not just a checklist". "As we advance towards smarter, cleaner energy systems, accountability and vigilance become paramount. I believe fostering a proactive safety culture is key to building a reliable and future-ready power ecosystem," he noted. Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, CEA, stated, "Electrical Safety is not just a mandate - it's a mindset.
