Hridhu Haroon's next titled ‘Texas Tiger'; first-look teaser out

Actor Hridhu Haroon, best known for starring in the critically acclaimed All We Imagine As Lightand the Malayalam film Mura, is making his Tamil debut with a film titled Texas Tiger. The film is directed by Selvah Kumar Thirukumaran, who helmed the 2024 film Family Padam. The makers unveiled a first-look teaser of Texas Tiger on Haroon's birthday on Sunday (June 29) to announce the news. The teaser introduces the actor as the titular character, a controversial rapper whose work seems to have divided the audience. While a protest erupts against the singer for his 'vulgar' lyrics, we also see some hardcore fans, called 'Tigerians,' defending him. 'Look, he must have gotten scared after seeing these protests,' chides a policeman, after which Texas Tiger makes a superb entrance from an auto rickshaw, akin to superstar Vijay's entry in 2021's Master. The rapper makes his way through the crowd in style and climbs atop a police van. When a protester throws a garland of slippers at him, he wears it around his neck, surprising both the angry protesters and his fans. Other details regarding the rest of the cast remain unknown at the moment. With music scored by Osho Venkat, the film has cinematography by Meiyyendiran and editing by Sudharshan. Balaji Kumar, Parthi Kumar, Sujith and director Selvah produce the film under their UK Squad banner.

As Farah entered Ram and Gautami's house, she asked Dilip if he knew them. When Farah pointed at Ram, Dilip said, "Tiger Shroff". He then went on to call Gautami Deepika Padukone, leaving her excited and happy. Farah was later seen exploring their house and indulging in a fun conversation. Farah praised Ram for losing weight at the age of 50 and asked if he now gets more work since his transformation. To this, Ram replied, "Some people reach a level where they get work because they have nothing more to prove. I am no star, I'll never be a star, my name is not Khan. Main size main bada hun yaa chota, kaam milta hai. Maine yeh (weight loss) kaam ke liye nahi kiya, career ke liye nahi kiya, apne aap ke liye kiya (Whether I'm big or small in size, I still get work. I didn't do this (weight loss) for work or for my career, I did it for myself). I promised myself that at the age of 50 I will do it.' Farah was seen making faces at his 'I am not a star' remark. However, the first Monday has seen a more significant drop, as expected for a weekday, bringing in only Rs 55 lakhs across all languages. The total box office tally as per the live updates for 'Kannappa' now stands at Rs 23.65 crore. The Monday morning occupancy reflected the dip. In the Telugu market, which has been the film's strongest territory, Kannappa recorded an overall occupancy of 12.22%. Tamil occupancy stood at 10.74%, while the Hindi version saw only 3.91%. Malayalam occupancy was slightly higher at 5.43%. These numbers mark a clear decline from the weekend high, showing that the film's weekday performance will now depend on strong word of mouth and continued family audience support. While acknowledging the film's emotional depth, Vishnu credited his "brother" for bringing massive attention to the mythological drama.
