Rannvijay Singha: I'm mostly offered cool-stud roles, which don't satisfy me

Rannvijay Singha Rannvijay Singha is back in the spotlight, this time as the host of Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, a reality show featuring 13 female celebrities placed in a rural setting in Bhopal. He says, 'This is different from any other reality show. These women are put in a real village, a world alien to them. They aren't fighting each other — they're fighting the situation, adjusting to an unfamiliar environment, and confronting inner challenges.' Though he made a mark hosting shows like Roadies, Rannvijay has also dabbled in acting, appearing in films and web series. However, he remains selective about acting roles. He says, 'Most of the time, I was offered the typical cool-stud guy roles, which didn't give me any real satisfaction. I recently wrapped up an intense project and even dubbed for something exciting.' On whether he found it frustrating to be typecast in the 'cool dude' mould, he laughs, 'That's just my personality! I ride bikes, play sports, and love adventure. I can't blame someone for casting me based on who I really am. It's not baggage — it's just me. If a script is good, I'm happy to play that guy again. I recently played an army officer in a series, and I'd love to do more such roles. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo If acting were my only source of livelihood, I'd understand the pressure to accept anything. But I have other avenues of income for sustenance, so I can afford to be selective.' He's clear about where acting fits into his life. He says, 'Acting isn't my bread and butter. In this profession, the success of a single project can determine your future. But I have kids to raise and responsibilities to fulfill — I can't afford to hinge everything on whether a film hits or flops. Life has to move on. I'll continue riding bikes, taking on new adventures, or heading into jungles and villages for different experiences. I choose projects that add value to my life and the people around me. And if I have less work, that just means more time with my kids — which is equally important.' Rannvijay admits he still has personal ambitions. 'I'd love to play a truly challenging role someday. But if that doesn't happen — if I never get that Rs 100 or Rs 500 crore film — it's okay. For me, success isn't defined by box-office numbers. I've been doing this for 22–23 years, and if I can keep carving out my own space, doing what I love, then I don't need to chase anything else.' His grounded outlook stems from his upbringing. He says, 'My parents never cared about how big I became. As long as I'm a respectful son, they're happy. Even if I don't do well professionally, they just want to hear things like, 'He looked after us, came to meet us — what a person you've raised!' That's what they value. If they had expected me to become the biggest name in the world, maybe things would've been different. But there's no pressure. The only pressure I feel is to raise my children to be good human beings.'

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection day 12: Aamir Khan's film to hit Rs 200 crore worldwide today, surpasses Salman Khan's Sikandar

Aamir Khan may not have gone the action route to secure a hit, but his coming-0f-age sports comedy Sitaare Zameen Par has now beaten one of the most-awaited Bollywood action films of this year. On its 12th day at the domestic box office, Aamir's lighthearted movie beat Salman Khan's Sikandar. On Tuesday, Sitaare Zameen Par earned Rs 4 crore, a slight improvement on its Monday earnings of Rs 3.75 crore, which is the lowest single-day earnings of the film so far. Over its second weekend, it earned Rs 12.6 crore and Rs 14.5 crore respectively. Prior to that, it hovered around the Rs 6-9 crore mark throughout its opening week post the opening weekend. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Sitaare Zameen Par in India stands at Rs 130.4 crore. In the process, it's beaten the lifetime domestic earnings of Sikandar (Rs 129.95 crore). It's now inching closer to surpassing Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which earned Rs 134.93 crore earlier this year. Sitaare Zameen Par is still scoring more than the other Hindi release it's competing with currently. Vishal Furia's mythological horror film Maa, starring Kajol, earned Rs 2.85 crore on Tuesday, taking its domestic total up to Rs 23 crore in five days at the box office. Produced by Ajay Devgn, the film comes from the world of his hit supernatural horror film Shaitaan last year. This Friday, on July 4, Both Sitaare Zameen Par and Maa will begin competing with another Hindi release, Anurag Basu's romantic anthology Metro… In Dino, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Pankaj Tripathi. Backed by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, it's the spiritual successor to Basu's 2007 film Life.. in a Metro. Beginning this Friday, Sitaare Zameen Par will also compete with the Hindi dubbed version of Gareth Edwards' sci-fi adventure thriller epic Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali. Despite competition from new and current Hindi releases, the Aamir Khan film is likely to see another jump over its third weekend at the domestic box office. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is produced by Aamir alongside Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka. Billed as a spiritual sequel to the critically acclaimed movie Taare Zameen Par, it was released in theatres on June 20. It follows the journey of a basketball coach (Aamir), who mentors 10 neurodivergent individuals. Kannappa Box Office Day 5: Vishnu Manchu's Film Struggles, Mints Rs 27 Crore

Last Updated: Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, despite mixed reviews, has collected ₹27 crore at the box office in 5 days, according to Kannappa Box Office Collections Day 5: Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa may have ridden in with sky-high expectations and the promise of a grand mythological spectacle, but five days in, the numbers are telling a slightly different story. Despite a strong start, the film has been facing an uphill climb at the box office. Released to mixed reviews, Kannappa opened decently and drew attention for its larger-than-life visuals. But the momentum seems to be slowing down. According to the latest report by the film has managed to collect Rs 27 crore in its first five days. While not a disaster by any means, it's clear that the film is struggling to hold on to audiences post the opening weekend. As per early estimates, Kannappa collected Rs 1.75 crore on its fifth day, marking the film's lowest single-day collection so far. After a strong opening weekend, the film has seen a noticeable dip in numbers. Kannappa had kicked off with Rs 9.35 crore on its first day, followed by Rs 7.15 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.9 crore on Sunday. However, Monday saw a sharp drop with Rs 2.3 crore coming in. With Tuesday's earnings, the total box office collection now stands at Rs 27.45 crore. On Tuesday, Kannappa recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of just 14.13 per cent. On Monday, Vishnu Manchu took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a concerning update about Kannappa. The actor revealed that the film has become a victim of piracy, with over 30,000 illegal links already taken down. In a note, he wrote, 'Kannappa is under attack from piracy. This is heartbreaking. Piracy is theft — plain and simple. We don't teach our children to steal. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don't encourage it. Support cinema the right way." Kannappa was released in multiple languages — Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi — but it's the Telugu version that has performed the best so far at the box office. Kannappa is a big moment in Vishnu Manchu's career. It's already his highest-grossing film so far. His earlier releases like Ginna and Mosagallu didn't even manage to touch Rs 1 crore in their entire run. The last time Vishnu had a solid opening was back in 2014 with Rowdy, which made Rs 3 crore on Day 1 and wrapped up its first week at around Rs 11 crore. A review by News18 of Kannappa read, 'The whole sequence and the visual effects are superbly done, an example of how far our cinema has evolved technologically. Back in the day, the same scene would've involved golden cardboard arrows moving at less than 24 frames per second. One arrow would spew fire, the opponent's would quench it with water. If one turned into a snake, the other would become its predator, an eagle. Mukesh Kumar Singh's Kannappa isn't weighed down by such age-old silliness. Here, the fight sequences and visuals look rich. However, if one were to read out the dialogues of Kannappa and any devotional film from the past one after the other, it would be hard to discern which is from 2025 and which is not."
