Jakorian Bennett-Thomas Booker trade grades: Who won the Eagles-Raiders deal?
The Eagles needed a bit more depth in the secondary, and the Raiders needed a bit more depth on the defensive line. For each player, this is a chance to press for more playing time with their new teams.
However, how did these teams grade out with this player-for-player swap? As you can probably expect, there is a real winner in this, and he is not the general manager for Las Vegas.
Let's grade this August NFL trade and determine who got the edge on the deal.
Eagles grade
Yes, the Eagles won this. Of course they did. We're not sure how the Eagles got Bennett, an ascending talent who flashed real potential with the Raiders, without having to give up any draft capital. Durability has been a bit of a concern for the third-year cornerback, but he could thrive in a rotational role and could even push to start at the second outside corner spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell. It's a little trite at this point to pull out the "How did Howie Roseman get away with this?!" sign, but this is a sweet deal for a young player pressing for a higher ceiling. Giving up only Booker, squarely a role player for the Eagles, is a steal for a player who could push for a starting job.
Grade: A
Raiders grade
The player isn't the problem. After the team's surprise release of defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, the Raiders needed more depth in the trenches. Booker earned snaps with the Eagles last year in their stacked defensive tackle room. That alone gives him a pretty good inside track to making the Las Vegas roster and earning playing time with his new team. He may well be a nice add for first-year general manager John Spytek. However, the fact that he didn't even get a low-round draft pick to go along with Booker for Bennett, the superior player who could push to start at cornerback for Philadelphia... rookie mistake. The Raiders will probably regret this deal... not for adding Booker, but for only getting a single player out of trading away a rising player on a rookie deal like Bennett.

'Do not put him out on loan'
After another impressive pre-season perfrormance from Rio Ngumoha, we asked if you want to see the 16 year-old in Liverpool's first team this season. Struber 'open' to more signings if 'right character'
Bristol City head coach Gerhard Struber says he is "open" to signing more players in the current transfer window but only if they are the right "character" for the club. Struber, who was appointed in June following Liam Manning's departure, takes charge of his first Championship match on Saturday, 9 August when the Robins face Sheffield United. City have brought in striker Emil Riis, midfielder Adam Randall and goalkeepers Joe Lumley and Radek Vitek - the latter on loan - so far this summer. "We're open, but it's super important that when you have a group that have such good energy together, then it's not just about finding someone who is good on the tactical or technical level - they must also have the right character," Struber told BBC Radio Bristol's Sound of the City. "With one or other player we are more flexible, we maybe bring a player in and he can play in more positions, this would be the perfect fit," he said. "We are looking sharp on the market, I cannot promise but we want to do a good job and hopefully in the end of the transfer window, we can say we made many things in the right way." Bristol City reached the play-offs in May for the first time in 17 years with the smallest squad in the Championship, using just 24 players. The togetherness and bond between the playing group was repeatedly drawn on as a factor in their success which Struber stressed he needed to maintain. "This is a big asset that we are so strong together and this could make a big difference," he said. "I have a big value in this, that my group knows exactly how important it is that we have this togetherness and this energy, this is something what makes us special." A new 'pro-active' style of play Bristol City is Struber's second coaching role in English football, having previously spent 11 months managing Barnsley from 2019 to 2020. He has also had spells at New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Salzburg and most recently Cologne, taking the German club to the verge of promotion last season. He said he will bring a more "pro-active" style of play to the team this season. "I don't want to only have one system, I want to be very fluid in how we press and how we handle possession," he said. "We want to press high on the field, we want to be vertical in transition, very direct and at the same time I like it that in possession we find moments of control and domination. "In all faces of the game we want to be unpredictable - not so much [like] the last season." Arsenal defender weighing up exit in search of minutes
Jakub Kiwior is weighing up an exit from Arsenal amid interest from several clubs this summer. Arsenal turned down an approach from an unnamed Portuguese side in July with Mikel Arteta keen to keep Kiwior among his options.
