The Silent Hill 2 Team Up Between Bloober Team and KONAMI Continues With a New Game
The success of Silent Hill 2 continues to weigh on KONAMI and Bloober Team, so much so that both companies have decided to continue to work together on a new game.
The success of the Silent Hill 2 cannot be understated. Before the remake launched, KONAMI's latest ventures into the supernatural town of Silent Hill included a now-defunct interactive experience called Silent Hill: Ascension, and before that, the poorly received Silent Hill: Downpour, which was released in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Thankfully, riding the coattails of the successful remake appears to be in KONAMI and Bloober Team's best interest as both companies have agreed to join forces once more and develop a new game (that has not been confirmed as another Silent Hill).
On the official Bloober Team website, the company released a statement that both Bloober Team and KONAMI have signed a new agreement for a 'joint project.' While the announcement does list accolades for the previous team-up release, Silent Hill 2, the only other information given to audiences is that it will be 'a new game based on KONAMI's IP.'
CEO of Bloober Team, Piotr Babieno, says, 'Our collaboration with KONAMI has been incredibly fruitful, and the success of Silent Hill 2 speaks for itself. By sharing knowledge and experience, we have been able to create high-quality production together. Of course, we can't reveal too many details at this time, but we are confident that fans will be just as excited about our collaboration as we are. We can't wait to share something truly special with players when the time is right,' in the announcement statement regarding the continued partnership with KONAMI.
CGMagazine's review of Silent Hill 2 called it 'Silent Hill 2, as you remember it, but better in nearly every way.' Metacritic median scores from critics (and fans) have given the title an incredibly positive rating, with 86% coming from a critical sample size of 104. Fans have largely agreed with the positive sentiment, giving the title a staggering 92% on over 3,000 individual reviews.
While it hasn't been confirmed that Bloober and KONAMI are working on another Silent Hill title, it has been confirmed they're working with KONAMI's IP.

RETURN TO SILENT HILL Gets a 2026 Release Date and New Images — GeekTyrant
The upcoming horror film Return To Silent Hill is set to be released on January 23rd, 2026, and as a longtime fan of this horror game franchise, I'm looking forward to this. especially with original Silent Hill director Christophe Gans returning to direct. Cineverse is distrubuting the film, and they promise that Return to Silent Hill will be 'a faithful adaptation of the video game Silent Hill 2 .' We've also got a couple new images to shae with you. In the movie, 'James, a man broken after his relationship with the love of his life, Mary, ends. When a mysterious letter from her calls him back to Silent Hill, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. 'While James desperately searches for Mary he encounters terrifying creatures and begins to unravel the mystery of what happened to the town. But as he descends deeper into the darkness the secrets he uncovers lead to a horrifying truth, and James finds himself struggling to hold on long enough to save his one true love.' I'm just hoping the movie delivers a descent into dark psychological terror. The cast includes Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) as James Sunderland and Hannah Emily Anderson ( Jigsaw ) as Mary. Gans preivoulsy talked baou the film saying: 'I am delighted to partner with Cineverse, which has shown a genuine understanding of fanship. Return to Silent Hill is an adaptation created out of deep respect for a true masterpiece of a game, Konami's iconic Silent Hill 2. I hope fans will enjoy and be fulfilled with the experience this new film has to offer.' He also said: ' Return to Silent Hill is a mythological love story about someone so deeply in love, they're willing to go to hell to save someone.' He said that it will 'take us on this journey into a psychological horror world that I hope will both satisfy and surprise fans of Silent Hill.' I've got high hopes for this and I'm excited to see what Gans delivers.

Star-packed, Covid-shaped 'Death Stranding 2' drops this week
Japanese video game legend Hideo Kojima releases "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" this week, a star-studded PlayStation sequel inspired by the Covid pandemic. Kojima has said the follow-up to the meditative 2019 game, in which "Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus played post-apocalyptic deliveryman Sam Porter Bridges, is "about connection". "The social situation was that everyone was divided" when development began on "Death Stranding" in 2016, Kojima said as he presented the new instalment at Los Angeles' Summer Game Fest on June 8. "I said, let's get connected. Right after that, we had the pandemic, and my fiction became a little reality" as people communed over new digital channels, he added. "Death Stranding 2", which drops Thursday, reflects Kojima's hope that people will rediscover analogue ways of being together following the years of isolation, he said. The first "Death Stranding" was a hybrid between a hiking simulator and a classic action game. It was set in a gloomy, fantastical science-fiction universe where characters are aged by the rain and carry foetuses that warn them of dangerous ghostly creatures nearby. Reedus's character Bridges had the job of reconnecting the last outposts of civilisation in a devastated United States following a disaster. This time Bridges's adventures will bring him to Mexico and Australia, in a story that 61-year-old Kojima -- creator of the equally fantastical "Metal Gear" stealth action saga -- said was completely rewritten in light of Covid-19. "I already had the DS2 idea but I had to scratch that off because I experienced the pandemic. So I rewrote," he said. "It's a new connection... I put that in the game system and I want everyone to experience that," Kojima added. French actor Lea Seydoux -- a star of films like James Bond adventure "No Time to Die" or Quentin Tarantino's World War II romp "Inglourious Basterds" -- returns in 3D form alongside Reedus. But new big-name talent is also along for the ride, including American actor Elle Fanning and the likeness of "Mad Max" director George Miller. French singer Woodkid composed the score for the new episode. Kojima Productions, the eponymous studio the developer founded in 2015 after leaving Japanese giant Konami, said in March this year that the first "Death Stranding" had more than 20 million players. And the franchise is broadening out to other media, with a feature film in development with American studio A24 as well as an animated film. Kojima is already turning his bottomless energy to other projects, including a horror game, "OD", co-written with American director Jordan Peele ("Get Out", "Nope") and developed in partnership with Microsoft. He is also returning to the world of spy games in the vein of "Metal Gear" with a new espionage title, "PHYSINT". kf/tgb/lth

Return to Silent Hill is coming to theaters next January
The third Silent Hill movie is still heading to theaters. According to Deadline , Return to Silent Hill will premiere on January 23, 2026. The film is directed by Christophe Gans, who also helmed the original 2006 adaptation. Return to Silent Hill is based on the 2001 game Silent Hill 2 . (Bloober Team's 2024 remake was one of our favorite games of the year.) The movie adaptation stars Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson. Akira Yamaoka, the game franchise's original composer, handles the score. Like the game it's based on, the film's protagonist is James Sunderland (Irvine). After a crushing breakup with Mary (Anderson), James lives up to the billing and… returns to Silent Hill. What he finds is a town transformed by a mysterious evil. As James searches for Mary, he faces terrifying creatures and unravels the truth. Psychological horror commences. In 2022, Gans told IGN that it's "totally independent" from the last two films. "Silent Hill is a bit like Twilight Zone, the Fourth Dimension, a place where anything and everything can happen," he said. In an interview with Le Point , Gans added that he wrote the screenplay during pandemic lockdowns. "I shot it in early 2023," he said (translated from French). "The film was supposed to be finalized in April 2024, but because of the executive producers, it dragged on, and I finished it last January." (Shots fired.) The movie doesn't yet have a full theatrical trailer. But you can check out its 2022 teaser trailer below. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings.
