Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati to lead team to bring Buddha's relics
The relics were taken to Vietnam from India for exposition on the gala celebrations of the United Nations Day of Vesak, which is observed annually on the full moon of May to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of Lord Buddha. These relics were on display in Vietnam during the Vesak celebrations from May 6 to 8.
The relics have been provided by the Mahabodhi Society of India and the National Museum, Ministry of Culture, with the support of the International Buddhist Confederation. The relics, which travelled from Sarnath - the sacred site where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon - were flown to Vietnam in a special Indian Air Force aircraft.
Speaking ahead of his departure to bring back the relics from Vietnam, the Governor said, 'It is a matter of great honour to accompany the sacred relics of Lord Buddha back to India. This spiritual journey reflects our shared civilisational heritage with Vietnam.'

BHU tourism students conduct educational tour of Bihar's UNESCO heritage sites
VARANASI: The students from the Tourism Management programme at Banaras Hindu University recently embarked on a three-day educational tour to explore the historical and cultural heritage of Bihar . The aim of the trip was to give students a firsthand experience of India's glorious heritage, ancient centres of learning, and Buddhist philosophy. During the tour, students visited the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University, where they learned about the preservation process of Nalanda. They discovered how Nalanda, once a global centre of knowledge, suffered through history and how the govt and the Archaeological Department are currently working towards its revival. Under the guidance of Tourism Management professors Anil Kumar Singh and Praveen Rana, the educational tour covered Nalanda, Rajgir, and Bodh Gaya in Bihar. Students had the opportunity to visit Nava Nalanda Mahavihara University and listen to its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Siddharth Singh. At the UNESCO World Heritage Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, students meditated and listened to Ven. Manoj Bhante from the temple management committee discuss Buddha's Eightfold Path. They visited the seven sites where Buddha spent time after attaining enlightenment, including the Bodhi Tree where Buddha achieved enlightenment. This site helped students understand Buddhist philosophy, non-violence, meditation, and introspection. In Bodh Gaya's tranquil environment, they deeply contemplated and imagined various aspects of Buddha's life. They also visited monasteries of different Buddhist countries in Bodh Gaya. Additionally, students studied other cultural heritages of Bihar. Through ancient sculptures, architecture, libraries, and historical museums, they gained insights into the deep roots of Indian civilisation in Bihar. BHU teachers stated that this educational tour broadened the students' perspectives and provided them with an experiential understanding of Indian history.

4 lakh pilgrims have visited Amarnath cave shrine: J&K Lt Governor

Sinha said the high number of pilgrims was testament to India's unity and its resolve to overcome all challenges. 'The record number of darshans and arrival of devotees from across the country and the globe is a testament to India's unity and its resolve to overcome the challenges. I am truly thankful to the devotees, who have shown immense faith and strengthened our priceless spiritual heritage,' he said. 'This godly expedition is incomparable not because it's arduous and challenging but because it's an inimitable journey into pure bliss. It's a spiritual experience and gives an opportunity to devotees to know themselves and offers deep trust and fills their hearts with infinite gratitude,' he added. Last year, more than 5.1 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine. The pilgrimage is scheduled to end on August 9, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival.

Special trains to run between Shirdi and Tirupati
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Mumbai, Jul 30 (PTI) Weekly special trains will be run for the next two months to connect Shirdi in Maharashtra with Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, the Central Railway said on Wednesday. For the time being, a total of 18 trips will be operated in both the directions, it said in a release. 'The special trains will connect two important places of religious importance offering a unique opportunity to have a darshan of Shri Sai Baba and Lord Venkateshwara," the release stated. The Sainagar Shirdi-Tirupati Weekly Special train will depart from Sainagar Shirdi every Monday at 7.35 pm from August 4 to September 9, 2025. It will reach Tirupati at 1.30 am on the third day. From Tirupati, the train will depart on every Sunday at 4 am from August 3 to September 28, 2025, and arrive at Sainagar Shirdi at 10.45 am next day. The special trains will halt at Kopargaon, Manmad, Nagarsol, Aurangabad, Jalna, Selu, Parbhani, Gangakher, Parli Vaijnath, Latur Road, Udgir, Bhalki, Bidar, Zahirabad, Vikarabad, Lingampalli, Secunderabad, Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Nadikude, Piduguralla, Sattenapalle, Tenali, Chirala, Ongole, Gudur and Renigunta stations. They will have two AC-2 tier, four AC-3 tier, six sleeper class, four general second class, one second sitting cum guard's brake van and one generator van. Bookings for the special trains will start on August 1.
