Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" Gets an Anime Adaptation
The Death Stranding universe is expanding.
Hideo Kojima, the famed video game developer behind the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise, announced that his latest independent video game series is receiving an anime adaptation.
In an interview with
Vogue Japan
, Kojima discussed the development of "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach", which continues the journey of Sam Porter Bridges, as played by The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus.
While talking about his ambitions for the live-action film adaptation by A24, Kojima also confirmed that an anime version was also in production.
"I am aiming to make Death Stranding in a way that can only be done as a film," he noted, "and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation."
In September 2024, Kojima confirmed that multiple projects based on the Death Stranding franchise were in the works, following the announcement of the live-action movie.
"There are several Death Stranding adaptation projects currently underway, but there is a different story I've written that's intended for a movie," he said. "But I don't have the time to direct it, so I won't. Which is kind of like a test for the third phase. I'm in the second phase now and expanding the IP I made in all sorts of directions."
In April 2025, Michael Sarnoski, the filmmaker behind "A Quiet Place: Day One", was confirmed as the official director for the live-action adaptation of "Death Stranding", which is being produced by Kojima Productions and indie film studio A24.
Sarnoski is writing and directing the movie, which will reportedly delve deep into the "game's mysteries surrounding the 'Death Stranding' — a catastrophic series of events that blurred the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead."
In the Vogue Japan interview, Kojima explained his vision for the live-action adaptation of "Death Stranding": "When it comes to film adaptations of games, there have been recent films like The Last of Us that keep the plot of the original intact, and films like The Super Mario Bros. Movie that are more like a service to game fans. Each of these works has its own merits, but as a film lover, I want to pursue expression as a film. I am aiming to make Death Stranding in a way that can only be done as a film, and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival."
"Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" is scheduled for release on June 26, for the PlayStation 5. "Death Stranding Director's Cut" is currently available on PlayStation, PC and Xbox Series X/S.

"A Quiet Place 3" Lands 2027 Release Date, John Krasinski Returns as Director
Yara Sameh John Krasinski is returning as the director, writer, and producer of 'A Quiet Place Part III.' The cast is not confirmed at this time, so it's unclear if Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, who co-starred with Krasinski in the first film, will return. Plot details of the sequel are being kept under wraps, but we're going out on a limb to guess that they involve alien creatures with very sharp hearing, and human beings who have to evade them on tiptoe while using their inside voices. Paramount Pictures will release 'A Quiet Place Part III' in theaters on July 9, 2027. Krasinski and Allyson Seeger's Sunday Night Productions, which has a first-look deal with the studio, is producing along with Platinum Dunes. Krasinski directed the first two films in the 'Quiet Place' franchise, with Michael Sarnoski directing the 2024 spin-off 'A Quiet Place: Day One.' The series has grossed over $900 million. Krasinski also directed the family comedy 'IF' for Paramount, but the film was a box office disappointment. Krasinski got his start on the NBC sitcom 'The Office.' He also starred in the Amazon Prime series 'Jack Ryan' and appeared in such films as 'It's Complicated,' 'Promised Land' and '13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.' He most recently starred opposite Natalie Portman in 'Fountain of Youth' for Apple Original Films. Krasinski announced his involvement on the third 'Quiet Place' film on Instagram. The news comes as Paramount Global, the studio's parent company, is finalizing its sale to Skydance — a deal that is expected to close next week. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

"The Holiday" TV Series in Works
Yara Sameh A limited series adaptation of the 2006 romantic comedy film 'The Holiday' is in development at Apple TV+. As with the film, the drama would center on two women, one British and one American, who swap houses during the Christmas season and find love along the way. The series would reportedly focus on different characters than those featured in the film. Krissie Ducker is attached to write and executive produce the series, with Rob Delaney serving as a consultant. Left Bank Pictures will produce. Nancy Meyers — who wrote, produced, and directed the film — is not attached to the series. The search is now on for the series leads. Should the cast come together, the series is expected to receive a greenlight. Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black starred in the original film. Winslet played Iris, a London columnist for The Daily Telegraph, while Diaz portrayed Amanda, the owner of a film trailer company in Los Angeles. Upon swapping houses, Iris meets Miles (Black), a film composer, while Amanda meets Graham (Law), Iris' widowed brother. 'The Holiday' was a box office success upon its release, grossing over $200 million worldwide. It has maintained a strong cult across the globe following ever since. Ducker's past TV writing credits include shows like 'Killing Eve,' 'Sweetpea,' and 'The Assassin.' She was also a writers assistant on 'Catastrophe' early in her career, with Delaney having starred in and co-created that show with she Horgan. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
