The Office of the President has today announced the appointment of Mrs Frederika Poussou as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) effective from the 1st May, 2025.
Mrs Poussou has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Seychelles and a Bachelor's Degree with First Class Honours in Business Studies in International Hotel Management from the Shannon College, Ireland
Mrs Poussou has over 11 years of experience working in the private sector and the public service.
Mrs Poussou joined the FTC in April 2016 as an analyst and has since then occupied several senior positions within the Commission. Prior to her appointment as Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Poussou was the Deputy CEO, a post she has held since June 2023.

The President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, attended the event as Guests of Honour, joining ministry officials and staff in celebrating the invaluable contributions of long-serving public servants to community development and local governance. The evening's proceedings honoured 17 exemplary public servants, each recognised for their unwavering dedication to national development through years of steadfast service. The awardees marked significant career milestones, ranging from five to thirty-five years of distinguished service within the public sector. The ceremony's pinnacle moment witnessed Mrs. Maryse Mederic, Records Officer in the Registry Section, receiving special recognition for her extraordinary thirty-five years of dedicated service to the Seychelles Government. She was presented with a ceremonial shield by President Ramkalawan, a commemorative floral arrangement by First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, a certificate of appreciation by the Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs Mrs. Rose-Marie Hoareau, and monetary awards by Chief Secretary Mrs. Shella Mohideen. The ceremony also recognized employees across multiple service categories, presenting certificates, commemorative shields, and monetary awards to deserving recipients. Notable recipients included: Five-year service recognition: Michael Mwaura (Facilities Officer) and Marie-Yvonne Payet (Personal Assistant to the Minister) Fifteen-year honorees: Sabrina Simeon, Fatima Marie, Merina Boniface, Samia Vinda, and Claudette Harrison, representing various district offices Twenty-year distinction: Antonia Cherry (Human Resources and Budget Management Officer) Twenty-five-year veterans: Kathleen Juliette, Marie-Antoine Radegonde, Virginie Micock, Jones Mangroo, and Nicole Agricole Thirty-year exemplars: Shirley Mussard and Marianna Adam "The ceremony of long service awards is not just a moment of recognizing our employees; rather, it is a moment of reflection, a moment of gratitude, and a moment to evaluate the journey as a team," remarked Minister Rose-Marie Hoareau during her address. Emirates will introduce third daily flight to Mauritius

Emirates has announced it will introduce a third daily flight to Mauritius, starting on 1 December. The additional service, to be operated by a Boeing 777 aircraft as EK709/710, will complement existing schedules and support the travel plans of Emirates customers planning trips to the popular destination from across its network of more than 140 points. Emirates currently serves Mauritius with two daily services aboard its flagship A380 aircraft, operating as EK701/702 and EK703/704. The addition of the third daily service, under a codeshare arrangement with Air Mauritius, will provide convenient flight timings to support travel itineraries and enable seamless connectivity for customers from the Middle East, Europe and the Americas travelling to the Indian Ocean holiday spot. The additional daily service will also provide seamless connections from and to Far East markets, where Emirates will actively promote the destination to audiences in Japan, China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Passengers can now book seats to the exotic island destination in First Class, Business Class and Economy Class on flight EK709, to operate daily and departing Dubai at 06:55 hrs and arriving in Mauritius at 13:40 hrs. Flights from Mauritius, operating as EK710, will depart Mauritius at 18:30 hrs and arrive in Dubai at 01:10 hrs the next day. All times are local. Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer said: 'We would like to thank the Mauritian authorities for making an additional daily service possible. We have been proudly serving Mauritius since 2002 and our double daily A380 services have been a major success and contributor to the growth of the country's tourism industry. The additional daily service on our wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft will enable a more than 30 percent increase in capacity on the route, while also providing additional flight options for leisure and business travellers to seamlessly connect to flights.' UAE warns investors BDS LTD.Seychelles unlicensed for financial services

UAE authorities warned investors and the public of an unlicensed company, named BDS The Security and Commodities Authority said that the company is not authorised to engage in regulated financial activities or offer related financial services. The SCA added that it assumes "no responsibility for any transactions or dealings carried out with the company". Last week, the authority warned the public against dealing with three unlicensed entities — namely Sigma-One Capital, Sigma Wealth World Financial, and Sigma One Cap Marketing Services. The warning came after a Khaleej Times report exposed the firms for running unregulated trading operations that left scores of investors financially devastated.
