Patchy afternoon skies are expected across Gauteng
The South African Weather Service forecasts partly patchy afternoon skies developing across Gauteng later in the afternoon. Isolated clouds are also expected in the Free State and North West areas. While no major weather warnings have been issued, locals can expect a relatively calm day.
'Temperatures will make it into the lower 20s for most areas,' said Joel Guy, a forecaster.
'But it will stay rather cool for Bronkhorstspruit, which will only manage a high in the teens.'
While other parts of the country are seeing signs of rain, Gauteng remains dry for now. A cold front moving across the southwest coastline may not directly affect the province but could shift patterns elsewhere.
Despite a dry day, some light cloud cover could move into Gauteng as the afternoon sets in. Winds are expected to remain light and variable, creating a relatively stable weather pattern.
'Parts of the country are under the influence of a cold front, but for Gauteng, we're only seeing patchy clouds and no significant precipitation,' Guy added.
Heading into the evening, temperatures are expected to drop again, but not as sharply as in the early morning. Gauteng will continue to experience mild winter weather.

Rain and cooler weather set to sweep across KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal can expect a cold and wet Friday as a cold front continues to move across the country, bringing rain and chilly conditions. Rain will be more widespread along the coastal parts of the province, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms expected throughout the day. According to Phemelo Zonke, a SABC meteorologist, 'Scattered showers and rain are forecast along the coastal regions of KwaZulu-Natal, while isolated thunder showers are expected inland.' These conditions will likely result in slippery roads and poor visibility in some areas, especially in the morning, when fog is also expected in parts of the interior. Temperatures across KZN will remain cool, with many inland areas experiencing cloudy skies and light rain. Drivers and commuters should be prepared for slower travel and plan accordingly. The South African Weather Service has warned about damaging Northern Cape and North West winds, while the Western Cape faces strong coastal waves. Though KZN is not under severe warning, residents are urged to remain alert to changing conditions. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Gauteng will face a foggy morning and chilly temperatures
Gauteng residents should brace for a cold start to Friday. Early morning fog patches are expected to blanket the interior regions, and visibility could drop to less than a kilometre in some places, raising concerns for road safety. Motorists are advised to drive with caution, especially during the early morning hours. Fog patches may impair visibility significantly. 'Those fog patches are expected to reduce visibility to less than a kilometre in places,' said Phemelo Zonke, a SABC meteorologist. 'Please do take caution if you are driving early tomorrow morning and do keep a safe following distance.' Conditions are expected to remain cool as the day progresses. Pretoria is forecast to reach a high of 23°C, while Johannesburg will peak at a chilly 22°C. While Gauteng may avoid significant rainfall, other provinces are bracing for scattered showers and winds. A cold front east of the country is drawing in moisture, bringing isolated thunderstorms over parts of the Free State and Mpumalanga. In addition, damaging winds are forecast over the northeastern and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, stretching into the Free State and parts of the North West province. Though Gauteng is not the hardest hit, the South African Weather Service has advised caution for areas facing more severe conditions. Coastal provinces will see more dramatic impacts, with damaging waves and wet weather extending from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape.
