Boardman ready to continue historic run at state final 4
'Everything they've done I've asked for and then some,' said Boardman head coach Fred Mootz. 'Every big moment during the season, they've showed up and they've produced when it mattered most.'
Boardman downed Louisville 3-1 in the Division III Regional Final to advance to state.
'We have so much to prove and everyone doubts us throughout the community, throughout the area,' said Boardman senior pitcher Tori Strines. 'We came out this year and showed that we can be that team.'
The Spartans started off their run with a 5-0 Division III District Championship win over Howland in late May.
'Everyone sleeps on Boardman and we've got to prove it,' said Boardman senior third baseman Alex Ward. 'Don't sleep on us, this year we finally proved that. People are starting to wake up.'
Boardman's current overall season record is (25-4).
'No matter who we play, we need to play our game because if we play our game, we can beat any team,' said Boardman freshman catcher Addie Rudge.
Boardman will play Holland Springfield in the 2025 OHSAA Division III State Semifinals, Friday, June 6, at 12:30 p.m. at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

Spartans slated for local bowl game in latest projections from College Football News
Will Michigan State football reach bowl eligibility for the first time in three seasons? The latest projections from College Football News believes so. College Football News released updated preseason bowl projections earlier this week, with the Spartans making the cut. Michigan State is slated to play in the GameAbove Sports Bowl against Toledo in College Football News' latest projections. This bowl game will be played at Ford Field in Detroit on December 26. Michigan State last played in a bowl game in 2021. The Spartans the only team in the Big Ten that hasn't gone to at least one bowl game in the last three seasons. Michigan State is projected to finish right around the bowl eligibility cut line, with a win over/under total of 5.5 for many betting services. This would suggest the experts are anticipating Michigan State will be right around last year's record of 5-7, but hopefully with at least one more win this year to go bowling. The Spartans open up the 2025 season on August 29 against Western Michigan. Kickoff from Spartan Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on FS1. Watch MSU commit Carlos Medlock Jr. dunks on future Wolverine player
Michigan State Commit Carlos Medlock Jr. dunking on Michigans Trey Mckenney 👀 The newest Spartan has already been thrown into the middle of the Michigan-Michigan State basketball rivalry thanks to highlight video surfacing on social media. Michigan State basketball added a big-time commitment in four-star point guard Carlos Medlock Jr. on Friday night, with the Wayne, Mich. product picking the Spartans over the Wolverines. This alone was a nice rivalry win for Michigan State over in-state foe Michigan. However, that got a little bit sweeter on Saturday when "Spartans Hoops" social media X account posted a video of Medlock dunking on future Wolverine Trey McKenney in a high school game. Check out the clip of the impressive play from Medlock in the video below: Ultimately, this is just a fun play for fans to get excited about and doesn't mean much more than that in the grand scheme of things. But, regardless, it's another fun little addition to an already heated rivalry between the Spartans and Wolverines. MSU to travel more than 35,000 miles this season, ranks in lower half of Big Ten teams
How many miles will Michigan State football travel this year? It's in the lower half of the Big Ten -- which is a good thing for the Spartans. With the addition of USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington to the Big Ten last year, one of the notable talking points has been the amount of travel for teams. The lower amount of travel, the better off your team is -- or at least that is the theory by some who cover the game. So with that being said, how many miles will Michigan State travel this year and how does it compare to the rest of the league? Thanks to The Big Ten Huddle podcast, we know Michigan State will travel 37,777 miles -- which ranks as the No. 8 lowest among Big Ten teams. The Spartans longest trip this upcoming season will be a road trip to USC in late September, and their second longest trip will be to Nebraska in early October. Luckily for the Spartans, they'll get a bye week between these two tough road trips. Check out the complete ranking of most to least amount of miles traveled in the Big Ten below: Contact/Follow us @The SpartansWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Michigan State news, notes and opinion.
