Congress destroyed Ambedkar's political life: Vadiraj
"The Congress under Jawaharlal Nehru wanted to ensure that Ambedkar did not enter Parliament. Being a scholar in economics, Ambedkar wanted to work in the Planning Commission and various Parliamentary committees. However, the Congress rejected all his demands. The Congress was not interested in bringing Ambedkar even into the Constituent Assembly, a body established to draft the Constitution of India," he said.
Vadiraj stated that the Congress ensured his defeat in the election to the Constituent Assembly. "After the
Hindu Code Bill
faced defeat in Parliament, Ambedkar submitted his resignation from his position as a minister in Nehru's cabinet. In his resignation letter, Ambedkar specified reasons and believed that the Congress was not working towards the development of the nation. Ambedkar knew that the priority of the Congress was not Dalits, but Muslims. He warned Dalits that the Congress is a burning house and they will be burnt alive if they enter it," he said.
Ambedkar stuck to his stand against the Congress even when Nehru opposed it. His own bitter experience in life as a Congressman made him speak against the party. Though Ambedkar drafted the Constitution decades ago, it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who announced Nov 26 as Constitution Day, Vadiraj said, and also criticised the Congress govt in Karnataka.

Rahul, Kharge write to PM Modi, seek legislation in Monsoon Session to restore statehood to J-K
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to bring forward legislation to grant full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. "We urge upon the Government to bring forward legislation in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament to grant full statehood to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir," read the letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the two Congress leaders. The letter also noted that PM Modi had already reiterated the government's commitment to restoring thestatehood of Jammu and Kashmir on multiple occasions. "Your good self has, on multiple occasions, personally reiterated the government's commitment to restoring statehood. In your interview in Bhubaneswar on 19 May 2024, you stated: "The restoration of statehood is a solemn promise we have made and we stand by it." Again, while addressing a rally in Srinagar on 19 September 2024, you reaffirmed: "We have said in Parliament that we will restore the region's statehood," Congress MP said. Emphasising on demand of statehood by Jammu and Kashmir people, LoP said that this is the first time a state has been downgraded to a Union Territory. "For the past five years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have consistently called for the restoration of full statehood. This demand is both legitimate and firmly grounded in their constitutional and democratic rights," he said. "This is the first time a full-fledged state has been downgraded to a Union Territory following its bifurcation," he added. In August 2019, the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, repealed Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, effectively ending the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the state into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Additionally, the two leaders also requested the government to bring forward legislation to include Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. He added that this step will address the cultural, developmental, and political aspirations of the people of Ladakh "We request that the Government bring forward legislation to include the Union Territory of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution. This would be a significant step towards addressing the cultural, developmental, and political aspirations of the people of Ladakh, while safeguarding their rights, land, and identity," read the letter The sixth schedule of the Constitution contains provisions related to the Administration of Tribal Areas in the States of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. The Sixth Schedule provides for the administration of certain tribal areas as autonomous entities.

LOPs Rahul Gandhi, Kharge write to PM Modi seeking J&K statehood legislation in Monsoon Session of Parliament
Leaders of Opposition in both Houses of Parliament – Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge – on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking to introduce a legislation in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament to grant full statehood to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The letter comes a day after Congress leaders, after a meeting of the party's top brass, said the issue will be raised prominently in the Monsoon Session, which begins on Monday. In their joint letter, Gandhi and Kharge wrote: 'For the past five years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have consistently called for the restoration of full statehood. This demand is both legitimate and firmly grounded in their constitutional and democratic rights.' The Congress leaders said it was 'important' to recognise that while there have been instances of Union territories being granted statehood in the past, the case of Jammu and Kashmir is without precedent in independent India. 'This is the first time a full-fledged state has been downgraded to a Union territory following its bifurcation,' read the letter. It further said that PM Modi has on multiple occasions, personally reiterated the government's commitment to restoring statehood. 'In your interview in Bhubaneswar on 19 May 2024, you stated: 'The restoration of statehood is a solemn promise we have made and we stand by it.' Again, while addressing a rally in Srinagar on 19 September 2024, you reaffirmed: 'We have said in Parliament that we will restore the region's statehood',' the letter read. It also mentioned that the Centre has made 'similar assurances' before the Supreme Court, during hearings on matters related to the abrogation of Article 370, that statehood would be restored 'at the earliest and as soon as possible.' 'In view of the foregoing and aforementioned, we urge upon the Government to bring forward a legislation in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament to grant full statehood to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,' the letter added. 'Include Ladakh under Sixth Schedule' The two LOPs also requested that the government bring forward legislation to include the Union Territory of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. 'This would be a significant step towards addressing the cultural, developmental, and political aspirations of the people of Ladakh, while safeguarding their rights, land, and identity,' it said. On August 5, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union territories after the Centre revoked Jammu and Kashmir's special status. Following the repeal of Article 370 and the subsequent enactment of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, Ladakh has been recognised as a separate Union territory 'without legislature'. Ever since the separation, there has been a demand that Ladakh be included under the Sixth Schedule which contains provisions regarding the administration of tribal areas in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram.
