Orlando Pirates news: Goodbye Saleng and Mofokeng?
The 20-year-old attacker is a strong candidate to win PSL Player of the Season after an incredible season with the Buccaneers. European and American teams have expressed their interest in the youngster, but the Buccaneers are yet to receive a good offer from top teams.
Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale has pleaded with the club to allow Mofokeng to join a club from Europe's top leagues.
'That's my wish, for the boy to leave and trade his talent somewhere in the bigger leagues,' he told Soccer Laduma .
'Here locally he's got nothing to prove. And his age allows him now for him to trade outside and open windows for the other Mofokengs you get me.
'Obviously they'll be no other Mofokeng if he goes, but that's football, football is come-and-go baba,' the Orlando Pirates legend added.
'Even us we were there and the likes of (Happy) Jele arrived, even them they have left and others came, that's football.
'We will create another Mofokeng, even though he's not going to be 100 percent Mofokeng, but we'll create another one,'
With Mofokeng set to leave, the Buccaneers have found his replacement in Oswin Appollis. The Bafana Bafana winger joined the Soweto giants from Polokwane City last month, to the surprise of many soccer fans.
Another player that could be on the move is Monnapule Saleng. The speedy winger's future at the club remains unknown as he hasn't kicked a ball in black and white colours for seven months.
In the next few weeks, Orlando Pirates could lose Mofokeng and Saleng. Given that the club signed Tshepang Moremi and Appollis, they should be fine.

'I love Chiefs but I support Pirates'
Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi has revealed that he has always been a supporter of Orlando Pirates despite playing the majority of his career with Amakhosi. The 51-year-old retired goalkeeper played over 400 matches for Chiefs before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in 2004 where he won two league titles with them. Between 1997 and 2009, Baloyi featured 24 times for Bafana Bafana and was the first-choice keeper at the Africa Cup of Nations in 1998. The Chiefs legend has revealed that he has always been a big supporter of Pirates. 'I'm not confused. The person that always tries to expose me is Jerry Sikhosana, every time we're together in many interviews, he always tells people that I'm a Pirates supporter and I don't deny it,' Baloyi said iDiski Dine YouTube Channel. 'But the reason I support Pirates is that my uncle played for Pirates, my uncle was a Pirates captain, Phil Jones Setshedi. So growing up, my whole family supported Pirates,' said the ex-Kaizer Chiefs keeper 'So this is what I say to people, I love Chiefs (but on the other hand) I support Pirates. It's the love (that I go with),' Baloyi is not the only player who grew up supporting one Soweto team but ended up playing for their rivals. Former Bafana Bafana star Teko Modise was a big Chiefs supporter but ended up playing for Pirates. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Ramphadi-Slade's whirlwind Wimbledon run: 'We played our best'
Donald Ramphadi and Gregory Slade have many reasons to keep smiling. Both have enjoyed a whirlwind month. Ramphadi got married, Slade has had a great grass season, and the pair have had a dream run as the underdogs. On Saturday, the underdogs were runners-up in the Wimbledon Quad Wheelchair final. Incredibly, this was their very first grass court tournament, and their second ever tournament as a pair. All the more special for Slade as Wimbledon is his home slam – the quad doubles world No 10 lives nearby. The South African-British pair were up against the favourites – the established, successful pair of Guy Sasson of Israel and Niels Vink of the Netherlands, who played well when they needed to on the key points, winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. But the score is no reflection of the quality of tennis from the South African and British duo. Fans were entertained on Wimbledon's show court on a scorchingly hot afternoon, with some close games. The pair had opportunities – game points in the first four games of the match. The scene was set: Wimbledon's Court 3, with the iconic church steeple backdrop on a scorchingly hot Saturday afternoon. Ramphadi-Slade entertained fans with their audible exchanges, and visible camaraderie. Despite the score, the two were jovial, and simply soaking up the experience of being in a Wimbledon final. Adorably, the two have been crediting each other this week for their humour and support to each other. Their chemistry is palpable. In a change to Wimbledon's finals weekend scheduling, this year, this match, together with the doubles and juniors' finals, were scheduled before, rather than after the ladies' singles final. This is a positive change, raising the profile of wheelchair tennis by allowing tennis fans with tickets to the ladies' singles final as well as those with grounds passes, to come and watch. Amisha Savani spoke to Ramphadi and Slade after the match. The pair were upbeat and grateful for the experience, noting their progress, despite the odds. Slade reflected on the match, saying 'Really pleased as I said, with the week Donald and I have had. Obviously, we do not have a lot of experience playing together, we had no experience before this playing on grass, so I think to come here as very much a new pairing and make a slam final at Wimbledon has been an incredible experience, and it's an incredible achievement.' Crediting their chemistry and banter, Savani asked the pair how they planned to revive this chemistry between tournaments. Looking at Slade, the Quad Doubles ranked world No 7 Ramphadi laughed, saying: 'Greg is a funny guy,' and spoke of Slade's sense of humour, as well as his ability to uplift them when down in a match. Ramphadi was happy with their performance. 'We played our best and we did well'. The pair are scheduled to pair-up again next week at the Swiss Open. If Wimbledon 2025 is a taster of what is to come from the Ramphadi-Slade pairing, we can expect only good things. Amisha Savani is reporting exclusively for The South African from the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon . Rory McIlroy can double your money
World No 2 bounces back to form at Scottish Open. Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland is in a good position going into the final round of the Scottish Open. Picture:Rory McIlroy landed in the rough after he achieved the Grand Slam of Golf by winning the US Masters. Intense emotion hit him but also smacked his golfing form. But the charismatic Northern Irishman is back – just in time for next week's Open Championship at Royal Portrush, in his homeland. McIlroy has relentlessly climbed the leaderboard at this week's Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club and is a clear favourite (R2.20 the Win with Betway) to lift the trophy on Sunday evening. The world No 2 tees off Sunday's final round as joint leader on -11 – with American Chris Gotterup (R5.10 the Win), whose 61 on Friday broke the course record. The R2.20 the Outright Win for McIlroy will be very tempting for knowledgeable golfing fans – as will the R2.00 for a Matchup Win in Sunday's final round against Gotterup (R3.45 the Matchup) and third-placed Wyndham Clark (R3.45) of the US. Tied for third with Clark are Matthew Fitzpatrick (R9.25 the Outright), Jake Knapp (R14.40) and Marco Penge (R14.40), but all three were erratic during Saturday's third round on the North Berwick links course. The three-way Matchup between this trio – Fitzpatrick (R2.35), Knapp (R3.05) and Penge (R3.05) – is a toss-up but big-hitting Penge offers an exciting ride for his backers. World No 1 Scottie Scheffler isn't often linked in a Matchup with DP World Tour stalwarts Francesco Laporta and Kristoffer Reitan and his R1.63 to get the better of them is probably worth the bother as the American gets the hang of links golf's peccadillos.
