One Piece: 8 most iconic characters who left behind a powerful legacy

Time of India18 hours ago
One Piece explores many themes, but one of its most compelling is legacy—what a person leaves behind after they're gone. To leave behind a powerful legacy, a person must live a life filled with purpose, impact, and influence—one that resonates far beyond their death.
In the world of One Piece, this idea is embodied through a variety of characters, each of whom has shaped the story through their values, sacrifices, and visionary ideals.
While many influential characters are still alive, several others have fallen in battle or passed away, yet their actions and beliefs continue to shape the world, inspire others, and drive the narrative forward. Below are 8 legendary characters who have left behind the greatest legacies in One Piece, each contributing uniquely to the grand tapestry that Eiichiro Oda has so masterfully created.
One Piece anime characters
who left the biggest legacy
Portgas D. Ace | First appearance: Episode 91
As the son of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger, Ace's birth alone made him a target of the World Government. Rejected and feared as a "cursed child," he rose above adversity to become a beloved member of the Whitebeard Pirates. His possession of the Mera Mera no Mi (Flame-Flame Fruit) and role in the Marineford War left a deep impact on allies and enemies alike.
But perhaps Ace's greatest legacy is the emotional anchor he provided for Monkey D.

Queen Otohime | First appearance: Episode 621
Source: Instagram
In a world where Fish-Men were raised to hate humans, Queen Otohime stood as a rare and unwavering voice for peace. She sought integration with humans, preaching coexistence and urging her people to move toward the surface.
Though her peaceful ideology cost her her life, her vision lived on through her daughter Shirahoshi, who boldly stepped into the human world during the Reverie—a move directly inspired by Otohime's teachings.
Her legacy persists in every Fish-Man who dares to believe in a peaceful future.
Kozuki Oden | First appearance: Episode 960
Oden's life was intertwined with history's most powerful pirates: Whitebeard and Gol D. Roger. However, it was his dream to open Wano's borders and liberate his homeland from Kaido's rule that truly defined him.
His death may have been brutal, but it sparked a revolution. The Red Scabbards, Minks, and other rebels carried forward his ideals, ultimately leading to the liberation of Wano.
Oden's story is a testament to how one man's dream can ignite a nation.
Fisher Tiger | First appearance: Episode 415
Fisher Tiger, a Fish-Man freedom fighter, etched his name in history by raiding Mary Geoise and liberating countless slaves—including Boa Hancock. His complex legacy inspired two contrasting responses: the hate-driven Arlong and the peace-seeking Jinbei.
Though Fisher died a tragic death, his impact reverberated through every character connected to the Fish-Man struggle, making him a symbol of both resistance and reconciliation.
Dr. Vegapunk | First appearance: Episode 1091
Hailed as the greatest mind in the One Piece world, Vegapunk's inventions shaped the very fabric of modern civilization. From Pacifistas to Seraphim, his work defined the technological landscape.
But his most significant contribution came in the Egghead Arc, where he defied the World Government by uncovering the secrets of the Void Century. His revelations about the world's fate and the true history of the past may very well alter the course of the story forever—even after his assassination.
Rocks D. Xebec | First appearance: Episode 958
Rocks D. Xebec may be long gone, but his legacy is colossal. As the captain of a crew featuring Whitebeard, Kaido, and Big Mom, Rocks played a crucial role in shaping the era of the Yonko. His ideology of domination and ambition to rule the world created ripples that still define the world's balance of power.
Though defeated at God Valley by the combined forces of Garp and Roger, the influence of Rocks lives on through the monstrous pirates he once led.
Gol D. Roger | First appearance: Episode 1
Gol D. Roger's execution sparked the Great Pirate Era, inspiring thousands—including Luffy—to set sail in search of the legendary One Piece. As the only man to reach Laugh Tale, Roger didn't just find treasure—he found truth.
By publicising the existence of the One Piece before his death, Roger challenged the status quo and ensured that pirates would rise to confront the World Government, creating a global power shift still unfolding today.
Joy Boy | First appearance: Chapter 1122
Once a distant myth, Joy Boy has emerged as a central figure in the world's hidden history. Believed to have lived during the Void Century, Joy Boy wielded the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, symbolizing liberation and joy.
He left behind the One Piece itself and has become an embodiment of freedom for the oppressed. The World Government's efforts to erase him only prove how vital he is to the world's hidden truths. As Luffy carries Joy Boy's will forward, his legacy grows ever more relevant.

Mahesh Babu's relative, hit ‘90s Bollywood actress, once worked at a beauty salon

Once a familiar face on the big screen during the 1990s, actress Shilpa Shirodkar stepped away from the limelight in the early 2000s. Her life took an entirely different path when she decided to move overseas and begin anew. After enjoying fame through films such as Hum, Aankhen, Khuda Gawah, and Gopi Kishan, Shilpa transitioned into everyday life far removed from the glitter of Bollywood. A Bold Shift to Simplicity Shirodkar relocated to New Zealand, where she took up an unconventional route by enrolling in a hairdressing course . The shift was not just about changing careers but about reinventing herself as a person. She chose to pursue a practical skill and worked briefly in a beauty salon, distancing herself from the glamour she had once been part of. In a candid conversation with actress Gauahar Khan, Shilpa opened up about the motivations behind her decisions. Her desire to stay active and productive was what initially drew her toward hairdressing. The former actress was not hesitant to shed her celebrity image and embrace a simple profession, proving her grounded nature. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Remember Him? Sit Down Before You See What He Looks Like Now 33 Bridges Undo Balancing Marriage, Career, and Identity During her time abroad, Shilpa had to manage a new marriage along with a new career. Her husband worked on weekdays while she found herself working over the weekends. The demanding schedule left little time for the couple to spend together. Shilpa chose to prioritize her relationship and stepped away from her salon job to nurture her marriage. However, idleness wasn't something she was comfortable with. Eager to continue working in some form, she asked her husband to help her create a resume. Without hiding any part of her background, Shilpa insisted on keeping her CV honest. Despite not failing her SSC (Secondary School Certificate), she was confident enough to include that, along with her film work. She wanted to see if the world outside showbiz had a space for someone with unconventional qualifications. To her astonishment, the decision paid off—after applying to a few jobs just for fun, she returned home with two job offers in a single day. Revisiting the Past with Farah Khan Recently, Shirodkar made a cheerful appearance in director Farah Khan's YouTube vlog. The duo reminisced about old times, and Shilpa playfully recalled an incident involving the famous Chhaiya Chhaiya song from the film Dil Se. She jokingly reminded Farah that she had once remarked about Shilpa's weight being a reason for not casting her—a moment both found amusing. Farah, laughing along, acknowledged the past with a hint of regret and lightheartedly promised Shilpa a spot in a hypothetical sequel if it ever came to life. Beyond the Screen Though Shilpa made a brief return to television through shows like Ek Mutthi Aasman and Savitri Devi College & Hospital, her journey remains an inspiring example of adaptability and resilience. She demonstrated that life after fame doesn't have to be a downfall — it can be a new beginning. Her sister Namrata Shirodkar , also a former actress, is now married to Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu , further anchoring the family in both the Hindi and Telugu entertainment industries.

Kunwar Vikram Soni trains for three hours intensively for Vasudha's knife combat sequence

Vasudha, known for its strong characters and emotionally charged storytelling, gears up for a dramatic twist this week. In an upcoming episode packed with emotion and adrenaline, Madhav (played by Kunwar Vikram Soni) makes a gripping return, stepping into a high-tension knife fight that tests his courage, instincts, and sense of duty. Unlike choreographed fight scenes often seen on television, this sequence is raw, intense, and deeply emotional. Every move Madhav makes—every block, every strike is driven by his need to protect Divya (Subhanshi Raghuwanshi), who has been kidnapped. To prepare for the physically demanding sequence, Kunwar Vikram underwent extensive training with the show's stunt team. He spent over three hours initially, and nearly five hours across two major set pieces—one involving knife-to-knife combat and another where Madhav faces off against an armed gang. The training focused on mastering knife-handling techniques, footwork, partner coordination, and keeping the movements realistic yet impactful. What made this sequence even more challenging was the need to perform stylised yet grounded knife tricks—something new for Kunwar Vikram. To elevate his performance, he drew inspiration from the recent action film Kill, particularly Lakshya's portrayal of Amrit and Raghav Juyal's Fani—both of whom brought a raw and unpredictable charged energy to their fight scenes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo Speaking about the experience, Kunwar Vikram Soni said, 'This wasn't a typical action scene—it had to feel real. Madhav is not a trained fighter, but he's the kind of person who will step up when it matters most. That meant every movement had to look improvised, instinctive, and emotionally charged. We worked a lot on blade control, partner coordination, and staying in the moment. I drew inspiration from Hrithik Roshan's calm precision in Vikram Vedha, but also from the film Kill—particularly Lakshya's portrayal of Amrit and Raghav Juyal's Fani. The way they handled the knife—fast, unpredictable, yet emotionally anchored—really stayed with me.' He added, 'We trained for three hours before the main take and almost five hours across two key sequences, repeating drills with real knives, adjusting blocking and camera angles, and slowly building up intensity. The director was completely invested—guiding us with clarity, fine-tuning every action, and making sure the emotion behind each move felt authentic. While Madhav is obviously not as morally complex as those characters, I tried to channel the same quiet intensity and desperation—the energy that comes from someone fighting with heart, not skill. Nothing in the fight could feel staged—it had to come from instinct, from adrenaline, from heart.' Madhav steps in to help Divya—but will he be able to save her? As the plot unfolds, will the Chauhan family be able to find out who was behind the kidnapping? Abhishek Sharma spills beans of his makeup routine for his character Devansh in Vasudha
