Indian Army to get Rs 30,000 crore QRSAM air defence missile system boost

New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): At a time when Indian air defence systems successfully thwarted the Pakistani aircraft, missile and drones attacks under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army is all set to get Rs 30,000 crore boost with a new surface-to-air missile system expected to be cleared for acquisition by the Defence Ministry soon.
The Defence Ministry is scheduled to take up the proposal for buying three regiments of the indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile system (WRSAM) for the Army Air Defence for deployment along both western and northern borders, defence officials told ANI here
The missile systems, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, are highly mobile as they have the capability to search and track targets on the move and fire at short halts, they said.
With a range of around 30 km, the system would be complementing the existing systems in the forces like the MRSAM and Akash in short to medium ranges.
The missile system performance has been extensively evaluated under both day and night operational scenarios during the trials.
The meeting of Defence Acquisition Council is planned to be held around the fourth week of June.
During the four-day conflict with Pakistan, which used Chinese weaponry, the Indian Army's Air Defence units destroyed majority of the drones using L-70 and Zu-23 air defence guns while the Akash and MRSAM played a crucial role along with the Indian Air Force's Spydwr and Sudarshan S-400 air defence systems.
The Army Air Defence is also getting a number of new radars, very short range air defence systems along with jammers and laser-based systems to deal with drones of Turkish and Chinese origin. (ANI)

"Following Operation Sindoor, our DGMO informed the Pak DGMO that India has attacked terror infrastructure on their land as per our right of self-defence. It cannot be like how it happened during Manmohan Singh's government, that terrorists come and kill us and we sit quietly...," Shah said. Following the Opposition's question over efficacy of the Modi government's decision to revoke Article 370, Shah said: "The number of terror attacks have gone down from 7,214 during UPA's regime 2004-14 to 2,150 in our 10 years from 2015-25," said Shah adding, "21 organisations with terror links that had been banned by the current government. Female security, CCTV surveillance: How Delhi govt is making night shifts safer for women
The Delhi government has cleared a proposal allowing women to work night shifts in shops and commercial establishments, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta emphasised that robust safeguards will be put in place to ensure the safety and welfare of women working during night hours.(ANI) The move aims at increasing women's participation in the workforce and transforming Delhi into a round-the-clock business hub, she said. Calling it a "historic decision", Gupta said the step marks a significant push towards women's economic empowerment and self-reliance. She also emphasised that robust safeguards will be put in place to ensure the safety and welfare of women working during night hours. "Delhi will now join the list of states like Haryana, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, where women are permitted to work in night shifts," the chief minister said. "This policy is not just about extending work hours but it is a statement of our intent to create a safer, more inclusive working environment for women in the national capital," Gupta said. Under the proposed framework, employers will be required to obtain written consent from female employees before assigning night shifts, according to a statement. Establishments must provide transport facilities, CCTV surveillance, female security staff and all basic amenities including toilets, restrooms and lockers, it said. Formation of Internal Complaints Committees, as mandated by the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, will also be compulsory, the statement further said. It also mentioned that the decision involves amendments to the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954, which currently restricts women from working between 9 pm and 7 am in summer and between 8 pm and 8 am in winter. Once cleared by the Lieutenant Governor, the exemptions will formally allow women to work round the clock, it added. As per the statement, to ensure fair treatment of night shift workers, employers must also ensure electronic wage transfers, statutory benefits such as ESI, PF and bonuses, along with weekly offs and overtime pay. "This step will make Delhi a more business-friendly destination while reinforcing our commitment to gender parity at the workplace," the chief minister added.

Donald Trump warns India of 25% tariffs if trade deal not reached
