TH Advises Pilgrims To Use e-Taib, Avoid Relying On AI, Google For Haj Guidance
MAKKAH, May 24 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has advised Malaysian pilgrims not to rely solely on artificial intelligence (AI) applications such as ChatGPT or Google searches for guidance on the rules of haj and umrah.
Instead, Holy Land haj facilitator (PIHTAS) Salmah Sheikh Hassan urged pilgrims to use the e-Taib service as their primary reference, including when at the Masjidil Haram, to obtain authentic and accurate guidance from certified ibadah guides.
'This is a matter of ibadah (worship). We want to ensure that every deed is performed perfectly so that we may attain a mabrur (accepted) haj. There have been instances where pilgrims paused during tawaf, stepped aside and contacted us via e-Taib because they were uncertain whether they had completed seven rounds or only six.
'In such situations, we (PIHTAS) advise them to consider it as six rounds and add one more to complete seven, to eliminate any doubt,' she said when met by the media here.
The e-Taib system, available through the THujjaj application, allows pilgrims to submit questions to PIHTAS via their smartphones, in a format similar to the WhatsApp messaging platform.
Salmah said that, on average, pilgrims received responses to queries submitted via e-Taib within five minutes, depending on the stability of the internet connection at the time.
'When the internet connection is good, PIHTAS officers are able to provide feedback within one to two minutes. On average, pilgrims' queries are answered in less than 20 minutes,' she said.
According to Salmah, the e-Taib service was currently handled by four PIHTAS officers working 18-hour shifts, with operations extended to 24 hours a day during the masyair week to accommodate the expected surge in queries from pilgrims.

KUALA LUMPUR: Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has launched the TLX9165T, an automotive photorelay designed for high-voltage battery systems with an output withstand voltage of 1800V. Mass production and shipments of the device, packaged in a 10-pin SO16L-T format, have commenced. The TLX9165T is tailored for battery management systems (BMS) in electric vehicles, where it monitors charge levels and ensures electrical insulation between high-voltage batteries and the vehicle chassis. Toshiba stated, 'It is also applicable to energy storage systems (ESS) used in renewable energy infrastructure, which operate with voltage levels similar to EV battery systems.' With the EV industry transitioning from 400V to 800V battery architectures for faster charging and extended range, photorelays must now withstand at least 1600V. The TLX9165T meets this demand by incorporating a newly developed high-voltage MOSFET. The SO16L-T package features a resin with a Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) of 600 or higher, complying with IEC 60664-1 standards. It provides a creepage distance of 7.5mm or more on the light receiver side, enabling a rated operating voltage of 1500V. Toshiba highlighted that the product maintains the same pin pitch and layout as existing SO16L-T models, simplifying integration into existing circuit designs. KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- The National Address System (NAS) has the potential to generate RM2 billion in economic spillover and create over 2,000 new job opportunities within five years, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He said the focus of NAS, which is being developed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is to ensure that every address in the country can be identified and verified using accurate standards, and can be utilised by various agencies, services and businesses. Although Malaysia is estimated to have around 12 million addresses, no single entity has comprehensive coverage. Most agencies that store address data have information that is non-standardised, unverified and decentralised, he said. Speaking when opening the National Address Conference 2025 today, he said the implementation of NAS is expected to bring tangible benefits to Malaysians, adding that in cases of floods or fires, rescue teams will be able to locate victims more quickly and accurately. 'NAS can strengthen location-based sectors such as e-commerce, logistics and courier services. With precise addresses and coordinates for each destination, deliveries can be made more quickly and efficiently, while reducing the risk of misdeliveries. 'NAS is not only aimed at solving current challenges, but is also expected to bring significant socioeconomic spillover effects, including increased productivity, job creation and enhanced national competitiveness,' he said. Also present were his deputy, Teo Nie Ching, and Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa. He said NAS is an authoritative, standardised and centralised system that compiles address data in a uniform manner based on Malaysian Standards Department guidelines. Each address will be geocoded and assigned a unique location identifier to ensure consistency, accuracy and interoperability. 'Government agencies and departments can reduce duplication issues and improve address verification, allowing for more accurate service delivery to the public. Although the current estimate is 12 million addresses, this number is expected to grow over time,' he said. He added that the lack of centralised and comprehensive address data hinders the country's progress toward becoming a digitally competitive nation.
