Sick or Slick? Netanyahu misses trial as Israelis call It a sham
ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not go to a court hearing on Monday that is part of his ongoing trial for corruption. His office said he has a stomach problem from eating bad food, so he will not be there. Legal experts, on the other hand, aren't sure about the comment and say Netanyahu is trying to avoid the courtroom. Also Read Netanyahu phones Pope after striking church attack in Gaza
A statement released on Sunday said that Netanyahu felt pain overnight and was checked out at home by Professor Alon Hershko, who is in charge of internal medicine at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. They were told they had a gut infection from eating food that was contaminated. The Prime Minister is now getting fluids through an IV because he is dehydrated. He has been told to rest at home for three days and will still be able to run the government from home during that time.
Netanyahu didn't show up to Sunday's cabinet meeting. He was supposed to be in Tel Aviv District Court on Monday to face charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. He usually goes to court twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays.
At the end of this week, the Israeli court system will start its summer break, which will last until September. It is still not clear if more trial times will be set during this time.

Yael Friedson, a legal affairs writer for Haaretz, questioned when and if the Prime Minister was really sick. He wrote on the social media site X that the announcement "is a continuation of Netanyahu's attempts to avoid cross-examination."
She asked the courts to hold hearings during the next break, noting the "extraordinary circumstances" of Netanyahu's frequent absences.
Besides the case of corruption, Netanyahu is also under legal pressure from other countries. He was charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with military activities in Gaza by the International Criminal Court on November 21, 2024. They issued an arrest warrant for him. The longtime leader of Israel could go to prison if found guilty in a domestic or foreign court.

Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan officially dissolves itself amid security crackdown
Published July 22nd, 2025 - 06:21 GMT The now-dissolved association was formed in 2015 as a legally recognized alternative to the original Muslim Brotherhood group, which was disbanded by court order. ALBAWABA- In a surprise announcement, the Muslim Brotherhood Association in Jordan declared on Tuesday that it has permanently dissolved itself, citing "national interest" and a rejection of clandestine activity. Also Read Jordan participates in extinguishing fires in Syria The group issued a formal statement confirming the decision to cease all legal and administrative operations under the Jordanian Parties Law, effectively ending its official presence in the country. The announcement comes in the wake of escalating government pressure, including a ban on the group's activities, the closure of its offices, the confiscation of its assets, and the arrest of several of its members. Authorities allege that some members were involved in planning operations that posed a threat to national security, including the use of drones and domestically produced rockets. — Roya News English (@RoyaNewsEnglish) July 22, 2025 These developments culminated in a major government decision on April 22, 2025, when Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya announced that the Brotherhood's offices would be shuttered and any further activities deemed illegal. The Ministry of Interior had previously classified the association as illegal, stating that it had failed to comply with legal and organizational requirements. Security officials added that investigations had uncovered both internal and external links that were deemed dangerous to the state's stability. The now-dissolved association was formed in 2015 as a legally recognized alternative to the original Muslim Brotherhood group, which was disbanded by court order. Since then, it had continued limited political and social activity through the Islamic Action Front (IAF), its political arm, which had managed to secure parliamentary seats and play a role in public discourse. The decision also comes amid growing opposition calls for a comprehensive national political dialogue and greater tolerance for pluralism in the political landscape. The Muslim Brotherhood has denied any involvement in alleged plots to destabilize the country and has yet to issue a response to the latest announcement. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (

US announces leaving UN cultural body UNESCO
The United States on Tuesday announced it has left UNESCO, saying the UN cultural and education agency, best known for establishing world heritage sites, is biased against 'Israel' and promotes "divisive" causes. "Continued involvement in UNESCO is not in the national interest of the United States," the State Department spokeswoman said. The US exit was expected under President Donald Trump, who also ordered withdrawal from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2017 during his first term. President Joe Biden then reestablished US membership. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce described UNESCO as working "to advance divisive social and cultural causes" and being overly focused on UN sustainability goals, which she described as a "globalist, ideological agenda." Bruce also highlighted what she said was the body's anti-'Israeli' position in admitting Palestine as a state. "UNESCO's decision to admit the 'State of Palestine' as a member state is highly problematic, contrary to US policy, and contributed to the proliferation of anti-'Israel' rhetoric within the organization," Bruce said. The UN organization describes its mission as promoting education, scientific cooperation and cultural understanding. It oversees a list of heritage sites aimed at preserving unique environmental and architectural gems, ranging from the Great Barrier Reef off Australia and the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Athens Acropolis and Pyramids of Egypt. Trump was not the first to pull the United States out of UNESCO. President Ronald Reagan ended US membership in the 1980s, saying the agency was corrupt and pro-Soviet. The United States reentered under the presidency of George W. Bush.
