When do July 4th sales start this year?
While Independence Day falls on July 4 every year, holiday sales often tend to hang around for a few days before and after. Amazon also announced that its next Prime Day will take place from July 8 to 11, so the two sales may blend into one massive shopping event.
Where are the best pre-July 4th sales?
Fourth of July sales offer some of the best prices on tech, appliances, mattresses and fashion, making it a great time to snag stellar prices on must-have items, and there are a ton of retailers participating in the holiday savings. Unsurprisingly, Amazon is usually one of the best places to buy because it sells products from almost all major brands across these popular categories, making it a tremendous one-stop shop for all of your Fourth of July buys.
Outside of Amazon, we recommend checking out appliance and tech sales at Best Buy, Home Depot and Lowe's, as well as holiday sales on a large variety of categories at Target, Nordstrom and Walmart, among others.
Should I shop July 4th sales or wait for Prime Day deals?
There's no definitive way to say whether Fourth of July sales or Prime Day deals are best. Both sales offer plenty of deals, including some of the best prices we'll see all year. Plus, it's likely the two sales will blur into one big discount extravaganza, given their proximity.
Fourth of July sales offer more variety in retailers, although much of your shopping may take place on Amazon anyway. There are also plenty of non-Amazon retailers that will keep their sales rolling through mid-July, often directly competing with Amazon Prime prices. Because you'll be able to shop so many Fourth of July sales, grab what you need and then keep tabs on Prime Day deals later for anything you miss out on. It's worth noting that outdoor or home improvement deals may be more readily available for Fourth of July, while electronics savings, especially on Amazon's own devices, will see lots of discounts during the Prime Day event.

Raw Commodities Bulls Have Been Beat Up. These 2 Major Catalysts Could Seriously Turn Things Around.
Much of the raw commodity sector has been beaten up over the past several weeks, including grains, soft commodities, and crude oil. However, veteran raw commodity market watchers are taking note of two important developments that could turn the tide more in favor of the bulls: a slumping U.S. dollar and falling U.S. Treasury yields. The U.S. Dollar Index ($DXY) on Tuesday hit a 3.5-year low and has been trending lower since mid-January. The USDX is a basket of six major world currencies weighted against the greenback. The index is a good gauge of the overall health of the U.S. economy. Most major global trade is conducted in U.S. dollars. When the greenback is depreciating, that means purchasing dollar-based commodities in non-U.S. currency is a less expensive endeavor — suggesting better demand for those dollar-based commodities, including metals, grains, energy, soft commodities, and livestock. Subscribe today! Importantly, trends in the currency markets tend to be stronger and longer lasting than price trends in other markets. The Dollar Index is in a six-month price downtrend, but that is by no means a mature bear market for currency. I expect a weaker U.S. dollar could be price-bullish for commodity markets for at least another year. The other element that could help pressure the U.S. Dollar Index is the upcoming BRICS meeting between Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. These countries are all aiming to undermine the U.S. dollar's strength and reserve status around the globe. The BRICS summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7. The early July BRICS meeting will be closely monitored by the general marketplace, but especially by currency traders. The benchmark U.S. Treasury note yield this week has fallen to a two-month low of around 4.2%. Reasons for declining U.S. yields include tamer U.S. inflation reports in recent months, recent U.S. economic data that has not been overly weak but has also not been robust, and better safe-haven demand for U.S. Treasuries amid the recent geopolitical flare-up in the Middle East. Falling U.S. Treasury yields suggest the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates sooner rather than later. Currently, the market is factoring in at least two interest rate cuts by the Fed this year. The Fed's own current projections indicate two cuts. However, if Treasury yields continue on a mild downward trajectory in the coming weeks, don't be surprised to see the market factor in three rate cuts from the Fed. You can bet that Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is also feeling the pressure from President Donald Trump to cut interest rates. If and when the Fed does cut interest rates, it will likely stimulate consumer demand for goods and services due to lower borrowing costs. And if the Fed is cutting interest rates, other world central banks would be more likely to do the same, and in turn stimulate better global demand for raw commodities. This scenario would mean a cyclical upturn in raw commodity market prices that would likely last at least a couple years. The scenario also suggests many currently beaten-up raw commodity markets are presently value-buying opportunities. Circle Just Applied for a Bank Charter. How Should You Play CRCL Stock Here?
Circle (CRCL) shares remain in focus on Tuesday following reports the stablecoin firm has filed for a national trust bank charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The filing underscores CRCL's commitment to integrating stablecoins into the U.S. financial system and – if approved – will enable the company to launch the First National Digital Currency Bank. Is Palantir Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold for July 2025? Cathie Wood Is Pounding the Table on AMD Stock. Should You Buy Shares Now? Plug Power May Be Getting a Senate Lifeline. How Should You Play PLUG Stock Here? Get exclusive insights with the FREE Barchart Brief newsletter. Subscribe now for quick, incisive midday market analysis you won't find anywhere else. Circle stock is currently up a staggering 500% versus its initial public offering (IPO) price. Circle's reported application for a national trust bank charter is a strategic leap toward regulatory legitimacy – which may prove a major tailwind for its stock price over time. If approved, the NYSE-listed firm will operate under direct OCC oversight, allowing it to manage USDC reserves in-house and offer institutional-grade custody for tokenized assets like stocks and bonds. This would help reduce reliance on third-party custodians, including BNY Mellon and BlackRock (BLK), streamlining operations and potentially raising investor confidence in CRCL shares. Simply put, the aforementioned filing signals Circle's evolution from crypto-native disruptor to federally regulated financial infrastructure provider – a narrative that the Street is bound to appreciate. Circle had a blockbuster IPO in early June and global interest in this crypto stock hasn't waned since. Still, JPMorgan analysts led by Kenneth Worthington assumed coverage of CRCL shares with an 'Underweight' rating this week, saying the valuation on them is 'outside our comfort zone.' Worthington acknowledged the company's 'early-mover advantage' and the outsized opportunity in stablecoin and USDC growth in his research note – but cautioned against buying Circle stock as all of it looks more than priced in already. JPM is convinced that Circle Internet Group could come crashing down to $80 per share within a year. Other Wall Street analysts, however, recommend loading up on CRCL stock at current levels since the Senate's recent approval of 'GENIUS Act' could open floodgates of demand for stablecoins. According to Barchart, the consensus rating on Circle shares currently sits at 'Moderate Buy' with the mean target of $220 indicating potential upside nearly 16% from current levels. Anoka County 911 center testing AI to screen nonemergency calls, ease workload
How 911 dispatchers are using AI to handle nonemergency calls on busy nights How 911 dispatchers are using AI to handle nonemergency calls on busy nights How 911 dispatchers are using AI to handle nonemergency calls on busy nights Skies will be lighting up with fireworks on Friday, but so will 911 lines. Emergency response dispatchers face a flood of calls on the fourth. On average, about 1,900 calls come into the c Facility (ECF) in Plymouth. Officials say that number spikes on July Fourth. In 2021, over 2,700 calls came in 24 hours. "The Fourth of July is probably our busiest holiday we see," said Tony Martin, Director of Emergency Communications at Hennepin County Sheriff's Office. Martin says local 911 centers are overloaded, the surge largely due to an uptick in nonemergency fireworks complaints, meaning one less dispatcher available to answer a call for a crime in progress, a medical emergency or a fire. "We would ask people to call our nonemergency number if you need to call in fireworks complaints," Martin said. As the calls start to roll in on the Fourth of July weekend, Anoka County's 911 center is tapping into an artificial intelligence system to screen nonemergency calls to ease the workload and get to more calls. The call will be transferred to the automated system to collect details before sending it back to the dispatcher to send to the appropriate agency. "You can't take the human out of 911, but if we are also going to be here, we need to be more available for the emergencies," said Kari Morrissey with Anoka County Emergency Communications Center. Morrissey says this new system is being rolled out this holiday weekend to test how well it works before the full rollout to use AI during major holidays. "It's going to save us, we think about two to three minutes per call, and will free up dispatchers to get to those priority calls," Morrissey said. Saving critical time, when every second counts. In Minneapolis, residents can call 311 for noise complaints. In Anoka County, the non-emergency number is 763-427-1212. In Hennepin County, the non-emergency number is 952-258-5321.
