ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) is hosting the 4th World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi from May 27-29, 2025 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.This year's congress is being held under the theme Innovating for a New Age of Utilities. The event is organised by dmg Events, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI), Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE), Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC). The congress is a platform for global utilities sector leaders, policymakers and innovators to address key challenges in the power and water sectors. As the industry advances towards integrating renewable energy sources, enhancing grid resilience and optimising water management, the event will drive high-level discussions, showcase cutting-edge solutions and facilitate strategic collaborations.His Excellency Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, underscored the significance of the World Utilities Congress 2025, which presents a valuable platform for global experts to come together and share insights and expertise on the cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions addressing sustainability challenges in the electricity and water sectors, in line with the Ministry's commitment to supporting the UAE's net-zero by 2050 target.His Excellency added: 'At the congress, we aim to highlight the significant strides we've made while engaging with industry leaders to exchange ideas and foster long-term resource sustainability. ADCB reports Dh5.014 billion net profit after tax in H1 2025
14 July 2025 22:45 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) has reported a strong financial performance for the first half of 2025, with net profit after tax rising 13% year-on-year to Dh5.014 billion, while profit before tax increased 18% to Dh5.942 billion. The second quarter (Q2) alone saw a net profit of Dh2.568 billion and profit before tax of Dh3.035 results were driven by double-digit growth in operating income, robust credit expansion, and increased non-interest income. For H1 2025, ADCB's operating income rose 15% year-on-year to Dh10.741 billion, while operating profit before impairment allowances grew by 22% to Dh7.766 bank reported notable efficiency gains, with its cost-to-income ratio improving to 27.7% for H1. In Q2, ADCB achieved its lowest-ever quarterly cost-to-income ratio of 26.4%, reflecting ongoing productivity improvements from investments in digital transformation and artificial income rose sharply by 36% year-on-year to reach Dh3.693 billion in H1, representing 34% of total operating income — compared to 29% a year earlier. 14 July 2025 21:19 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Saudi Arabia and the UAE together dominated the issuance of green, social, sustainable, and sustainability-linked (GSSS) bonds in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region during the first half of 2025, according to data from Bloomberg's Capital Markets League GSSS bond issuances across the region reached $9.47 billion in the first six months of 2025, only slightly lower than the $9.91 billion raised during the same period last year. While higher global interest rates and a pause in issuances from Egypt and Qatar impacted the overall figure, strong volumes from Saudi Arabia and the UAE maintained the region's Arabia accounted for a commanding 66% of total regional issuances, raising $6.25 billion — a 25% increase compared to the first half of 2024.
