Teresa Giudice's daughter Gia addresses backlash over plea for President Trump to pardon dad Joe
The media personality, 24, shared a video on the Fourth of July to ask the current president to allow her dad back into the U.S. - after he was deported in 2019 to his home country of Italy following his fraud conviction.
Gia's clip came amid Joe's own pleas in recent months and shortly after Trump pardoned both Todd and Julie Chrisley in May after the pair served prison time for tax evasion and bank fraud.
However, the daughter of Teresa and Joe Giudice garnered criticism for the timing of her video - with some calling her out for posting it amid the ongoing ICE raids and others labeling it 'privilege at it's finest.'
While making an appearance at the Next Gen event in NYC on Wednesday, Gia admitted that she 'felt so bad' for when she uploaded the reel and also offered an apology.
'I apologize for posting that on the Fourth of July,' the star told People. 'I got so much c**p for that. I felt so bad.'
She explained that she filmed the plea the day before the holiday and said she 'didn't want to let my dad down because I told him that the video was done.
'And when I tell him things, he expects it - like, you know, an Italian household, it better be done the next day. It better be done right away.'
The following day on the Fourth of July, she chose to post the clip not long after she woke up in the morning.
Gia recalled the comment section quickly filling up and directly addressed some that called her 'privileged.'
'And I'm not privileged, I'm not entitled. The first thing on my mind that morning was just getting a point across and not disappointing my dad. That was really it.'
The star then expressed that she felt like she couldn't take down the clip due to the criticism because it 'also just looked bad.'
Gia continued, 'That's why you always have to be cautious when you post and what you post and the time of day. But I did feel really bad about that, but I'm also happy that the message is getting out there.'
She reflected on being in the public eye - and its affect amid her mom Teresa and dad Joe's divorce and their prison sentences back in 2014.
'You just always try to do the right thing, but you're always going to be, I guess, judged from your parents' actions or things that they've done in the past.'
The clip she posted on the Fourth of July holiday was captioned with, 'let's bring Joe Giudice; my father home together♥️ #bringjoehome.' Gia also tagged Trump as well as the White House and her father.
The reel showed the TV personality writing a letter to President Trump and then going to a post office to send it.
Over 10 years earlier, Teresa and Joe Giudice were both sentenced to prison after they pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud as well as three types of bankruptcy fraud.
The RHONJ star served 11 months behind bars and Joe was deported back to his home country of Italy and currently resides in the Bahamas.
During the course of the clip, Gia could be heard saying: 'Hi guys, my name is Gia Giudice. I'm the daughter of Joe Giudice and today I'm using my voice for something deeply personal.
'My dad was deported over four years ago. Since then, our family has lived in an emotional limbo. No matter how strong we try to be, the absence of a father, of a parent, it's something that never stops hurting.'
She added, 'Growing up, my dad was present at every cheer competition, every dance recital, holiday. He was our provider, our protector, and he still is, just now from thousands of miles away.
'My dad was deported over four years ago. Since then, our family has lived in an emotional limbo. No matter how strong we try to be, the absence of a father, of a parent, it's something that never stops hurting,' Gia said
'Watching the Chrisley family receive a second chance inspired me. It showed me that people can be forgiven, that families can be restored and that sometimes the justice system has room for grace.'
In May, Todd and Julie Chrisley were notably released from prison just one day after Trump pardoned the pair.
Back in 2022, the pair were found guilty of defrauding banks out of $30 million. Julie was sentenced to seven years in prison - which she had been serving in the state of Kentucky.
Her husband Todd was sentenced to 12 years and had been serving his own sentence in Florida.
Gia said, 'That gave me hope. Hope that maybe my dad could come home too. A pardon would mean more than just legal forgiveness.
'It would mean healing for my sisters, for my mom, for my family, and for me. We've missed birthdays, graduations, even the small moments that matter the most.'
She further expressed, 'This isn't just about one man. It's about a family who deserves to be whole again. I'm using my platform to speak not just as a public figure, but as a daughter who deeply misses her dad.
'We are not asking for sympathy, we're asking for a second chance. So, let's bring Joe home together. President Donald J. Trump, I really hope you receive these character letters about my dad Joe Giudice.'
Not long after she uploaded the post, the comment section was filled with both criticism and positive messages.
One penned, 'He didn't pay his taxes. He broke the law and then was living here illegally. The Nerve of privilege.'
Another wrote, 'Are you currently aware of whats going on with immigration at the moment in this country? Smh.'
'This is rather tone deaf considering your father committed a white collar crime and got deported but people are getting deported and sent God Knows Where without even having criminal records,' a fan shared.
'Your fans want you to use your influence to help the less fortunate and I don't blame anyone for not having sympathy for your father who is dealing with consequences based off of choices he MADE,' they added.
Gia also garnered support from others, such as her mom Teresa who shared red heart emojis and Savannah Chrisley who typed, 'I'm so proud of you.'
One commented, 'Get out of her comments with the negativity it's her Father for goodness sake.'
'This is the love of a daughter fighting for her dad and no matter anyone's opinion she has the right to forgive his mistakes and try to being him home,' another penned.
Joe has also been sharing his own pleas on social media and last month in June, also shared a direct post which he tagged President Trump in.
'I know I made mistakes - but I did my time. And my family has done the time with me ever since. It's been almost ten years since I've been able to stand next to my girls in the U.S.'
He added, 'All I want is the chance to come back home, hug my daughters, and be there for the little things dads are supposed to be there for.
'Mr. President, if you see this, I hope you hear me. I'm just asking for a second chance to be the father I promised to be. @realdonaldtrump. Thanks to everyone who's supporting me - you give me hope every day.'
Joe shares four children with ex-wife Teresa: Gia, 24, Gabriella, 20, Milania, 19, and Audriana, 15.
Earlier this week on Saturday, he shared another post about wanting a second chance after 'already missing too much.'
He wrote, 'I know I made mistakes - but I did my time. And my family has done the time with me ever since. It's been almost ten years since I've been able to stand next to my girls in the U.S.'
He shared, 'Every father deserves to stand beside his daughters. I've already missed too much. Things like birthdays, graduations, even just simple dinners like this.
'Moments like these aren't guaranteed, and I'm fighting every day to be there for more of them. Thank you for sharing our story and keeping hope alive. One post, one share, one prayer at a time - we're getting closer.'
In the snap accompanied with his message, Joe could be seen flashing a cheerful smile while surrounded by his four daughters.
RHONJY alum Siggy Flicker - who was appointed by Trump to be on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council - has since commented that she is doing her best to help. 'I'm trying. Joe should be back home with his beautiful daughters!!!!!!'

Ukraine war briefing: Trump says he will send Patriot missile defence systems to Kyiv
Donald Trump has said he will send Patriot air defence missiles to Ukraine and that they are 'desperately' needed to defend the country because Russian president Vladimir Putin 'talks nice but then he bombs everybody in the evening'. The US president did not give a number of Patriots he plans to send to Kyiv but said the European Union would reimburse the US for their cost. 'They are going to pay us 100% for that, and that's the way we want it,' Trump told reporters on Sunday. The moves come amid a souring of Trump's relations with Putin and just two weeks after Washington said it would pause some arms deliveries to Kyiv. US senators touted a bipartisan bill that would arm Trump with 'sledgehammer' sanctions to use against Russia, ahead of the latest visit to Ukraine by US special envoy Keith Kellogg. Trump said he would make a 'major statement … on Russia' on Monday. Republican senator Lindsey Graham – a top ally of Trump – said on Sunday he had majority backing in the Senate for his bill, which was gaining momentum as US-led peace efforts in Ukraine struggled. The bill would allow Trump 'to go after Putin's economy and all those countries who prop up the Putin war machine', he told broadcaster CBS. Trump has indicated he would be open to the sanctions bill after repeatedly saying he is 'disappointed' with Putin over Moscow's deadly missile barrages against Ukraine. Nato secretary general Mark Rutte is set to meet Trump this week on the heels of the US president announcing plans to sell Nato allies weaponry that it can then pass on to Ukraine. Nato said Rutte would be in Washington on Monday and Tuesday and would meet with Trump, secretary of state Marco Rubio and defence secretary Pete Hegseth as well as Congress. French defense minister Sebastien Lecornu, meanwhile, said in an interview published on Sunday in La Tribune Dimanche that European officials had been making the case to the Trump administration to bolster air defence capabilities with any coming packages. He said France was in a 'capacity hole' and would have to wait until next year before being able to provide Ukraine new ground-to-air missiles. Ukraine's SBU security service has announced it tracked down and killed Russian agents they said had assassinated one of their members. A two-strong team – a man and a woman – had killed Col Ivan Voronich in Kyiv on Thursday, it said. 'A special operation was conducted this morning, during which members of the Russian FSB agent group put up resistance and they were eliminated,' the SBU statement on Sunday said. It did not specify how many people had been killed but the SBU posted a video in which two bodies were visible. The team that killed Voronich had spent time getting to know his daily schedule and routes, the SBU said. The UN nuclear watchdog said it had heard hundreds of rounds of small arms fire late on Saturday at Ukraine's Russian-occupied nuclear power plant at Zaporizhzhia. The International Atomic Energy Agency said on Sunday that the large number of shots – repeatedly fired for about an hour from 10pm local time – was unusual and that it was seeking further information. Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov met with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing on Sunday to discuss Ukraine as well as relations with the US. Lavrov arrived in China after a visit to North Korea, where he received assurances of support in its conflict with Ukraine. Lavrov and Wang Yi's talks included 'the outlook for settling the Ukrainian crisis', Russia's foreign ministry said.

Ellen DeGeneres supports Rosie O'Donnell after Donald Trump threatens to revoke her citizenship
Ellen DeGeneres showed her support for Rosie O'Donnell, whose U.S. citizenship was put under threat. On Saturday, President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social: 'Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our great country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her citizenship. She is a threat to humanity, and should remain in the wonderful country of Ireland, if they want her. God bless America!' On Sunday, Ellen shared the president's post and gave a shout-out to the 63-year-old comedian: 'Good for you @rosie.' Ironically, Ellen and Rosie have never shared more in common, being former TV titans who both left the U.S. following Trump's re-election last November. The show of support happened months after Rosie accused Ellen of never saying 'anything political in her life'. Rosie told Us Weekly: 'I've never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump. Like, that shocked me, actually. I've been a political person my whole life, not better or worse, it's just a different way to be in the world. I was very clear about the reason why I was leaving.' 'It's not like we're tenaciously opposed to each other. We're just very different people. We have had some stuff in the past that we never resolved. And not in any way as, as partners or lovers or anything like that, just as friends and comedians, but I wish her the best. I seriously do.' Reaction: Ellen shared the president's post and gave a shout-out to the comedian Rosie's 'past' comment was referring to when Ellen told Larry King that she didn't know Rosie and was not her friend, which deeply upset her because they were close in the nineties. 'Ellen wrote in a text, "I'm really sorry and I don't remember that,"' Rosie said in 2023, adding: 'It would never occur to me to say "I don't know her" about somebody whose babies I held when they were born. It wouldn't be in my lexicon of choices to ever say. When she was in a perplexing situation and people were saying things about her, I said, "Let me stand next to you and say that I'm Lebanese, too". When it was a downward media time for me, she didn't do anything.' Ellen is reportedly 'never coming back' to the States after moving to a farmhouse in the Cotswolds, England where she and her wife Portia de Rossi are raising chickens and goats. Career end: Ellen notoriously got 'kicked out of show business for being mean' after her former self-titled daytime talk show ended following 19 seasons after being hit with racism, workplace bullying, and sexual harassment claims in 2022 Meanwhile, Rosie and her child Dakota 'Clay' O'Donnell are getting used to life in Dublin, Ireland and she's 'in the process' of getting Irish citizenship. In response to Donald's latest diss, Rosie shared four posts on Saturday. She said: 'Hey Donald, you're rattled again? 18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours. 'You are everything that is wrong with America, and I'm everything you hate about what's still right with it. You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. I'm not yours to silence. I never was.' Reaction: In response to Trump's latest diss, Rosie spoke out on Instagram on Saturday Rosie also called Trump a 'mentally ill, untreated criminal' and 'a sexual-abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself'. She continued: 'This is why I moved to Ireland. 'He is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy, compassion, and basic humanity. 'I stand in direct opposition all he represents - so do millions of others. [Are you going to] deport all who stand against [your] evil tendencies? [You're] a bad joke who can't form a coherent sentence.'

Rita Ora was Chelsea's 'lucky charm' as she cheered them onto their 3-0 World Cup victory against Paris Saint-Germain in New York
Rita Ora was 'thriving' as she acted as Chelsea's human 'lucky charm' as they stormed to a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday. The British singer-songwriter, 34, was open-mouthed with delight as she watched the action unfold at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, near New York. Fist bumping with happiness, Rita cut a casually stylish figure in a black and pink silk scarf, which she accessorised with a pair of gold hoop earrings and a necklace. The star kept her eyes protected as she watched the action unfold with a pair of black sunglasses, opting to wear her long hair down for the event. She was described as the team's human lucky charm by her photographer friend Rosie Matheson, who shared the star's celebrations on Instagram. Following the victory, the boys in blue were presented with the World Cup trophy by President Donald Trump. The British singer-songwriter, 34, was open-mouthed with delight as she watched the action unfold at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey However, they looked confused when the president failed to leave the podium during their celebrations, with Cole Palmer appearing to ask, 'What is he doing?' Rita's appearance at the game came after she showcased her toned midriff in a skimpy white top as she travelled on the subway while exploring Brooklyn on Friday. The singer appeared to enjoy riding on the public transport around the New York City borough. For her outing she stepped out in a white sheer long-sleeved top which she layered over a matching bralette. She paired her top with some casual light blue low-cut flared jeans which she paired with black flip flops. Adding a hint of glamour, she toted around her belongings in a large black Hermes bag. To accessorise, the songstress wore a quirky mental ring and a pair of black tinted sunglasses. Alongside her Instagram post, she penned: 'Brooklyn Bridge 9pm.' Rita recently revealed how Beyoncé has always been her 'protector' as she discussed being hit by speculation that she was 'Becky with the good hair'. Beyoncé's smash hit 2016 album Lemonade featured poignant lyrics about cheating and she sang about the mysterious woman in her track Sorry. Fans widely speculated it referred to alleged infidelity by Beyoncé's husband Jay-Z with a woman called 'Becky', and theories began circulating online about her identity. Rita found herself at the centre of the rumours as she was wrongly accused of having an affair with Jay-Z, with the singer forced to hit back and deny the claims. Now, Rita - who was represented by Jay-Z's Roc Nation label at the time - revealed she was so upset by the claims because Beyoncé has always been her 'protector'.
