'Still dirty': Tigers fans issue warning to Lachie Galvin for Bulldogs grudge match
David Craine is a lifelong Balmain/Wests Tigers fan and administers the 'Wests Tigers Will Never Die' Facebook page, which has more than 44,000 members. He predicts Galvin will cop a hostile reception from both fans and former teammates.
"The fans are still dirty over him walking out and will let him know. They will boo him at every opportunity," Craine told Yahoo Sport Australia. "And I believe it won't just be the fans - the players will be filthy as well.
"I've heard reports that the team want payback for what he said about Benji…basically saying he can't coach. These players are only there because they believe in Benji. They will want to send him (Galvin) a strong message."
But for all the passion and anger Tigers fans will muster, Craine concedes they face a tough time being heard over the raucous Bulldogs Army. Canterbury's fan base is on the march and turning up in big numbers during the club's best season in a decade.

Galvin has won them over in recent weeks and can expect plenty of support from the blue and white corner. "I expect Dogs fans to be bigger and louder than our sobbing fans," Craine predicted.
"Their fans are the most passionate and noisy in the game and will try to drown the Tigers fans out. But we won't back down and they won't back down. We'll both be doing what we can to give our side an edge. It's all set up for a really feisty afternoon with plenty at stake for both teams."
Canterbury has kept Galvin out of the firing line this week, refusing to offer him up to media outlets for fear of heightening tensions. It's been left to teammates to speculate on how the rookie half will handle playing against the club he rejected two months ago.
Halves partner Matt Burton said: "He'll just go to another level and get better from that (scrutiny). That won't faze him at all.
"There's going to be a lot of talk, but whatever's in these four walls, we just stick together and we don't worry about that. It's like he's a 26-year-old in a 20-year-old's body. He's got that maturity about him."

CBS Sports released an article this past week that dived into a number of teams that "will struggle to meet last season's standard" and Michigan State made the list. The Spartans are coming off a Big Ten title winning season and Elite Eight finish in the NCAA Tournament, and Isaac Trotter of CBS Sports is not expecting Michigan State to match that same kind of success during the 2025-26 season. "Richardson's departure does open the door for Michigan State to slide back to the rest of the pack in 2025-26," Trotter wrote. "College basketball can be cyclical, at times, and Michigan State has been hit with some unexpected tremors this offseason. The writing was on the wall with the dynamic Richardson down the stretch, but Tre Holloman's abrupt decision to transfer to NC State stung, too." Trotter did, however, note that Michigan State still has a high-floor and that there is still plenty to be excited about for the Spartans next year. "Make no mistake, Michigan State still has a high floor. Its blanketing 3-point defense isn't going anywhere," Trotter wrote. "(Carson) Cooper, (Jaxon) Kohler, (Coen) Carr and incoming freshman forward Cam Ward should help the Spartans keep smoking teams on the glass. (Jeremy) Fears single-handedly is a fast-break machine who should take a healthy step forward with a full, healthy offseason. Defense, rebounding and a turbo transition offense is a good recipe to be competent, and there are some real upside plays in Carr (future NBA player), Ward (who looks built in a lab to play for Izzo) and sophomore Kur Teng (baller)." So it sounds like Trotter is expecting Michigan State to make the NCAA Tournament yet again this season, but just don't expect to win the conference and be a true National Championship contender. Hugh Freeze is happy about Auburn's secondary depth
The Auburn Tigers return plenty of experience to their secondary this season. Fall practice is underway at Auburn, and a lot of attention is on the 2025 edition of the Tigers. Auburn fans are hoping for a big year that results in the program making strides in the right direction. The Tigers have had four straight losing seasons, which is something the faithful are not accustomed to. While there are questions around this football team, a position that the Tigers do have plenty of experience and talent is in the secondary. Auburn returns Kayin Lee and Jay Crawford at the cornerback position while Champ Anthony also returns to the Tigers after playing well in 2024 before suffering a season-ending leg injury in the Tigers' SEC opener with Arkansas. Head coach Hugh Freeze is looking forward to having Anthony back. 'We might limit some of (Anthony's) reps, but it gives us some flexibility because some of those guys can play multiple positions', Freeze said of Anthony as camp opened this week. Auburn also returns key contributors to both safety positions with Kaleb Harris and Sylvester Smith. Both players gained valuable experience last season playing as freshmen. The Tigers also added some depth to the secondary with the transfer portal and the 2025 recruiting class. From the transfer portal they added Raion Strader (Miami-Ohio) and Rayshawn Pleasant (Tulane) at the corner back position. At safety, Auburn added Taye Seymore from Georgia Tech and signed safety Eric Winters out of Enterprise High School. It is clear the Tigers will have depth in the secondary this season. 'You're glad you have more depth where you're not somewhat feeling like there's a drop off, when you do rotate people, or if you do have an injury," Freeze said. "I think every team at this level would be excited to have the type of depth that we do." He also acknowledged that, despite the depth, they do need to figure out who plays where. 'Now we've got to figure out what their seat is on the bus. Who are the best nickels, and who are the best safeties, and who are the best corners," Freeze said. "I know we have increased our speed and our depth. So that's exciting to us, and now we've got to figure out exactly all the pieces of where they go.' Last season the Tigers ranked ninth in the SEC last season giving up 213 yards passing per game. The secondary will need help, and an improvement in their pass rushing ability will help. As good as the group is, if the front cannot create pressure the defensive backs will not be able to hold their coverage. Cowboys' reunion with La'el Collins an important redemption story
Things didn't end well between La'el Collins and the Dallas Cowboys last go 'round. After starting 71 of 74 games for the Cowboys between 2015-2021, the team soured on Collins. His commitment to health, fitness and the game fell into question as injuries mounted. Dallas eventually released Collins, and his career never truly recovered. He played 15 games in 2023 marking the last meaningful football he'd play to date. Once upon a time Collins was a valued member of a stellar Cowboys line. He was a first-round talent who went undrafted after the proximity to an apparent violent crime scared teams away in the 2015 NFL draft. He rebuilt his name and reputation in Dallas then, and now he is getting that same chance at redemption with the Cowboys in 2025. With injuries ravaging the Cowboys offensive line in training camp, Dallas is in the market for viable offensive lineman at multiple positions Collins was brought in for a workout to hopefully be just that. After reportedly working with famed offensive line guru Duke Manyweather over the offseason, Collins is said to be back in game shape. At 33, it might be now or never for Collins. It's been reported the workout went well and Collins is signing with the Cowboys. He has the ability to play inside and outside and could be a solid swing lineman for the Cowboys in the preseason and possibly beyond. Collins' friendship with Dak Prescott runs deep and putting a happy ending on the saga in Dallas is just what the doctor ordered for this drama-filled time of the year (see also: Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons). Time will tell what Collins has left in the tank and what kind of role he'll play n 2025. But getting a shot at redemption is truly something to cheer for.
