Prayagraj: The
Allahabad high court
will deliver its judgment on Monday on a civil revision petition in a dispute related to Jami Masjid and Shri
Harihar temple
in Sambhal.
The Sambhal Mosque Management Committee has filed a civil revision petition, requesting a stay on the ongoing trial court proceedings in the district court.
The case involves a suit filed by the Hindu side plaintiff, seeking a declaration of their right to access the Shri Harihar temple, which was allegedly converted into the Jami Masjid situated at Mohalla Kot Purvi.
On May 5, the ASI counsel had filed his counter-affidavit on which the court had granted time to the masjid committee to file a rejoinder and fixed May 13 for next hearing. On May 13, Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal had reserved judgment after concluding hearing in the matter.
The masjid committee had filed a revision petition challenging an order of the Sambhal civil court dated Nov 19, 2024, which had directed an ASI survey through an advocate commission.
The high court had earlier stayed the further trial court proceedings of the original suit till the next date pending before the district court at Sambhal, where the Hindu side plaintiff had sought the right of access to Harihar temple, which is allegedly where the Jami Masjid is situated at Mohalla Kot Purvi.

The present civil revision was filed after the Supreme Court order in this regard challenging the entire proceedings as well as maintainability of suit before the Sambhal district court.
In the petition, it was alleged that the suit was filed on Nov 19, 2024, and within hours, the judge appointed an advocate commissioner and directed him to carry out an initial survey at the mosque, which was done on the same day, i.e. Nov 19, and again on Nov 24, 2024.
Hindu side counsel Hari Shanker Jain and seven others have filed a suit before the court of civil judge senior division, Sambhal, on the plea that Shahi Eidgah mosque was built after demolishing a temple at Sambhal.

POCSO case: SC grants anticipatory bail to accused; issues notice to Kerala government
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has issued notice and protected the petitioner-accused under multiple sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, while highlighting the need for consideration of the entire case on merits. A two-judge bench of the top court, led by Justice Manoj Misra and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan passed the order. Arguing before the bench, counsel for the petitioner, Advocates Tarini K. Nayak and C. Arvind, claimed that the case was a product of a long-standing enmity between the petitioner and the complainant's father. It was pointed to that a delay of over four years in lodging the First Information Report (FIR) is a significant factor which casts doubt over the credibility of the complaint, suggesting the possibility of tutoring of the complainant by her father.

ILO report flags 25% gender pay gap in Pakistan, highlights barriers to women's economic participation
Women in wage employment earn substantially lower wages than their male counterparts in Pakistan , according to a new report launched by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Dawn reported. The ' Pakistan Gender Pay Gap Report 2025 ' estimates the gender pay gap at approximately 25 per cent based on hourly wages and 30 per cent based on monthly wages. The gender pay gap in Pakistan is also significant by international standards. In comparison, lower-middle-income countries, the income group Pakistan falls under, have an average gender pay gap of 21% based on monthly wages and 17% based on hourly wages, Dawn stated. "This would support Pakistan in progressively fulfilling its obligations under the ratified ILO Convention on Equal Remuneration and the Convention on Discrimination," Dawn quoted him as saying. ILO Country Director Geir Tonstol also reiterated institutional support for the cause. "We now have the evidence, the commitment, and the partnerships to move from promise to practice. The ILO stands ready to support Pakistan in advancing fair and transparent wage-setting systems, formalising informal work, and creating real opportunities for women across all sectors," Dawn reported. Live Events Alongside a large gender pay gap, the report highlights that women's employment remains limited in Pakistan. In 2021, women's employment rate was around 23% compared to 79% for men, a gender employment gap of 56 percentage points, one of the highest in the South Asia region, Dawn noted. This means that Pakistani women are substantially less likely than men to have paid jobs and that, even when they are in wage employment, women earn substantially less, the report said. The report also finds that women account for just 13.5% of employees in Pakistan. However, Dawn reported that data showed women in wage employment are more likely than men to have a high level of education. In addition, Dawn reported that women employees are more likely than men to work in the public sector, in formal employment, and jobs with permanent contracts, professional occupations, and larger firms.

‘If a guy like this becomes mayor...': Vivek Ramaswamy's hot take on Zohran Mamdani
Republican leader and ex-DOGE head Vivek Ramaswamy has stepped up his criticism of New York City mayoral contender Zohran Mamdani , warning that the city's identity could be lost under the 'radical left' if Mamdani is elected. Ramaswamy, who is running for governor of Ohio in 2026, claimed that cities like New York are driving away the American spirit — and Ohio could be its next home. "I moved to NYC after I graduated college in 2007 because it was a place that still celebrated success, but that spirit receded in New York & soon could be gone altogether due to Mamdani,' Ramaswamy posted on X. 'We're reviving that American Dream in a new place: Ohio. The revival starts next November.' The 38-year-old former biotech executive, who recently resigned from the Department of Government Efficiency to contest Ohio's gubernatorial race, has leaned into cultural and ideological differences between blue cities and red states as a core campaign message. Earlier this week, Ramaswamy's super PAC, Victors Not Victims, funded a giant billboard in Times Square with the message: 'Worried About Zohran? Ohio Is Waiting For You!' It contrasted Mamdani, labelled a "radical socialist", with Ramaswamy, 'protecting freedom'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? 'The real problem with Mamdani isn't his race or religion. It's his anti-capitalist worldview and his policies that risk destroying our nation's largest city,' he wrote in a New York Post op-ed. In the same article, he revealed how he too had been the subject of ethnic slurs online. 'Each time I post a photo, I'm asked to 'GO HOME'. He warned that if Mamdani were to lead New York, more residents would flee for cities that offer 'a better model of American excellence'. Vivek dismissed criminal activity and urged Americans to unite under what he called an ambitious and American spirit. "But that's not who we are. The rule of law unites us as Americans. We don't commit crimes — that's what unites us." 'The beauty of the United States, is that even if people leave, they can still head to my home state Ohio and celebrate an American spirit, " he said in a Fox news interview. Ramaswamy's campaign is widely seen as one of the most well-funded early bids for a 2026 governor's race, with his PAC already having raised $17 million.
