Morocco, UK Sign MoU in Support of 2030 FIFA World Cup Organization

Maroc03-06-2025
Morocco and the United Kingdom signed, on Monday 02 June in Salé, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the organization of the 2030 World Cup.
Signed by the Moroccan Minister Delegate for the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, and the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy, this agreement marks a new milestone in the dynamic bilateral cooperation in the fields of sports, infrastructure, and economic development.
This initiative aligns with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has made sport a pillar of influence, openness, and sustainable development.
Through this MoU, the United Kingdom expresses its commitment to mobilize its technical expertise, its business ecosystem, and its support capabilities to contribute to the success of this major project.
Both parties agreed to work closely on a range of initiatives, particularly concerning stadiums, transport infrastructure, and services related to the management of international events.
This mutual commitment reflects a shared ambition: to make the 2030 World Cup a sporting, logistical, and human success—one that fosters economic opportunities and sustainable partnerships, in line with universal values of solidarity, excellence, and inclusion.

Renault Celebrates Production of Morocco's First Fully Electric Quadricycle

Rabat – The Renault factory in Tangier celebrated on Friday the production of the 2,000th Mobilize DUO, the first fully electric four-wheeled vehicle made in Morocco. The car is part of a newer category of small electric vehicles designed for city driving. A communication system developed by engineers in Morocco has been integrated into the vehicle, which is mainly intended for export to European markets. It was designed and assembled entirely by Moroccan talent, with engineering and production teams receiving over 8,000 hours of training in new skills related to electric mobility. The launch event saw the participation of Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, CEO of Mobilize Gianluca De Ficchy, and General Manager of Renault Group Morocco Mohamed Bachiri. Also present at the event was the President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region Omar Moro, Tangier Med CEO Mehdi Tazi Riffi, and other local officials and business leaders. The Mobilize DUO, fully electric and designed for city transport, is being built at a new assembly line inside the Tangier factory, which can produce up to 17,000 units per year. The line was specifically designed for fully electric vehicles and uses more advanced technology to meet these requirements. This project also allowed for the inclusion of a new group of Moroccan suppliers that specialize in electric vehicle components, helping them grow and boosting the local auto industry. Speaking at the ceremony, Mezzour said the factory, 'a leader in carbon neutrality and operational excellence, shows our shared commitment to developing Morocco's ability to innovate and adapt.' 'We are proud to witness the production of the 2,000th Mobilize DUO, the first 100% electric car made at Renault Tangier,' the minister said. He also commended Renault's progress, especially its integration of new suppliers, saying it strengthens Morocco's role as a strategic hub for electric mobility. Gianluca De Ficchy, CEO of Mobilize, said that his company aims to remove the barriers to electric mobility by offering financing, charging, and transport solutions that are accessible to all. 'The DUO is a result of our efforts to create urban transport that is safer, smarter, and more sustainable,' he added. Meanwhile, Renault Morocco's head, Mohamed Bachiri, said that the DUO project reflects the group's ongoing trust in the Moroccan industrial platform. The project is part of the broader momentum behind the Made in Morocco label, he stressed.

Morocco's Tourism Chief Brings All Staff Together for Major Strategic Reset

Rabat — Morocco's National Tourism Office (ONMT) has called an unprecedented all-hands meeting in Rabat, bringing together executives from headquarters and international offices for the first time. The move seems to be an extensive overhaul through which the office intends to enhance its managerial performance and signals a major shift in how the country plans to tackle its tourism ambitions. Achraf Fayda, who took over as head of the tourism office eight months ago, organized this comprehensive staff mobilization to align everyone around a shared vision. The meeting represents more than just internal reorganization,as ONMT chief wants to create a workplace culture focused on results, quick decision-making, and mutual trust. He says his team plans to identify top talent across the organization, improve communication between departments, cut red tape, and invest in employee development. Recent wins set the stage This internal reset builds on several recent successes that have helped Morocco gain ground in global tourism. The 'Morocco, Land of Football' marketing campaign created a buzz and connected with audiences worldwide. Two focused initiatives — one highlighting Fès and another promoting Ouarzazate — featured Morocco's rich history and natural beauty to potential visitors. Read also: Morocco's ONMT Launches Strategic Tourism Plans for Fez, Ouarzazate The tourism office has also struck deals with major international travel companies to increase flights to Morocco and boost the country's visibility in key markets. Eyes on major events ahead The Rabat meeting comes at a crucial time, with Morocco preparing to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations and co-host the World Cup in 2030. These events will put the country in front of millions of viewers worldwide and represent massive opportunities to attract new visitors. The tourism office plans to create a detailed action plan that takes advantage of these upcoming events. But first, they want to make sure their team works as a unified force. Industry partnership on the horizon The next phase will expand beyond the tourism office itself, as Fayda plans to bring in tourism industry professionals from across Morocco through the National Tourism Confederation. Together, they'll develop a comprehensive strategy that the entire sector can rally behind, departing from top-down planning. Morocco's tourism leadership wants to tap into expertise from hotels, tour operators, restaurants, and other businesses that deal with visitors daily. The comprehensive staff meeting represents Morocco's recognition that successful tourism development requires more than marketing campaigns and infrastructure projects. It demands organizations that can execute effectively and adapt quickly to changing conditions in the global travel market. Tags: Morocco TourismNational Tourism Office (ONMT)ONMTTourism

Chelsea vs Palmeiras: Preview & Score Prediction

Chelsea and Palmeiras meet once again at the FIFA Club World Cup – this time in the quarter-finals – three years after the Blues beat the Brazilians in extra-time to lift the 2021 title. Kick-off is at 2 a.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1) at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia and fans can catch the action live for free on the DAZN website and app. Palmeiras arrive off the back of a tense, all-Brazilian brawl with Botafogo, where they held their nerve to advance. But the win came at a cost — key defenders Gustavo Gomés and Joaquín Piquerez are both suspended. Ferreira is expected to plug the gaps with Micael and Vanderlan, while veteran striker Paulinho, still carrying a knock, is likely to be used sparingly once again. All eyes will be on Estêvão, the 18-year-old gem already Chelsea signed. This could well be his farewell in green. In midfield, Richard Ríos has quietly run the show all tournament and will fancy his chances against a Chelsea side missing suspended Moisés Caicedo. Chelsea scraped past Benfica after a chaotic, storm-delayed match, but questions remain. Enzo Maresca's side has yet to hit top gear, and Palmeiras won't be pushovers. The Blues are missing Caicedo and could also be without Roméo Lavia, meaning Andrey Santos may be handed a rare start alongside Enzo Fernández. Cole Palmer, still Chelsea's best creative outlet, is expected to play centrally again with Madueke and potentially Pedro Neto flanking him — the latter playing through personal grief after the loss of close friend Diogo Jota in a car crash in Spain. João Pedro, the latest addition, may start on the bench but could feature if things get tight. Nicolas Jackson returns from suspension and is expected to start up top over Liam Delap, who is one yellow away from suspension. Predicted Lineups: Palmeiras (4-2-3-1): Wéverton; Giay, Micael, Fuchs, Vanderlan; Martínez, Ríos; Estêvão, Torres, Allan; Roque Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Sánchez; James, Adarabioyo, Colwill, Cucurella; Santos, Fernández; Neto, Palmer, Madueke; Jackson Score Prediction: Chelsea have more firepower, more depth, and a golden path to the final. Palmeiras will fight, and Estêvão may have his say, but this should be the match where Maresca's men finally click. The Blues are to advance — and convincingly.
