Ambassador to France? Saints LB Demario Davis to represent team in Paris
The Saints are one of just a few teams granted exclusive international marketing rights by the NFL. The Los Angeles Rams own marketing rights in China, Japan, and South Korea; the Miami Dolphins claim both Argentina and Colombia; the Philadelphia Eagles have exclusivity in Ghana and the Cleveland Browns get the same opportunities in Nigeria. The Saints are one of the only NFL teams with exclusivity in a European nation (along with the Los Angeles Chargers' presence in Greece) compared to three teams in neighboring Spain and a whopping 11 competitors in Germany, with nine teams vying for attention in the United Kingdom and a half a dozen pushing and shoving for airtime in Ireland.
Per Johnson, Davis will have an active itinerary. Besides meet and greets with fans, he'll participate in a flag football clinic, visit the U.S. Embassy, and take in a Bastille Day riverboat cruise. The five-time All-Pro has embraced his role as a team leader, and soon he can add this experience to his resume. After Cameron Jordan and his family spent their 2023 offseason vacationing in Spain, the Saints defense will have seen a lot of Europe.
Additionally, Johnson says that team owner Gayle Benson will later join the delegation for a game between the Paris Musketeers and Vienna Vikings; the Saints teamed up with the Musketeers in a unique partnership between the NFL and European League of Football earlier this year. Former Saints third-round draft pick and linebackers coach Jack Del Rio is currently working as the Musketeers' head coach; he's led them to a 5-2 record, tied with the Stuttgart Surge for best in the Division West. The 6-1 Vikings are leading the Division East, so it should be a great game to show off how the sport has developed overseas.

ATLANTA (AP) — Kirk Cousins said on the Netflix series 'Quarterback' that he played through an injury to his right, throwing arm last season in part to keep from losing his starting job with the Atlanta Falcons to rookie backup Michael Penix Jr. At minicamp last month, Cousins said he realized after last season he wasn't as healthy as he thought he was at the time, citing an ankle injury that affected his mobility. In the seventh and final episode of the second season of the Netflix show, which was released Tuesday, he said he made the best decision he could at the time after taking a big hit to his right shoulder and ribcage from New Orleans' Payton Turner on Nov. 10. Cousins was seen in an earlier episode telling training staff on the sideline he bruised his elbow 'pretty good' but insisted he was all right and never missed time. 'Immediately my elbow lit up, and I knew I irritated something,' Cousins said on the show. 'Had shooting pain kind of right through inside my elbow. My shoulder started to really throb, so I knew right away, like OK this is a little more serious. Once I lost my shoulder and my elbow, I didn't have many other places to lean on to get the power I needed.' After appearing on just the Week 11 injury report and none beyond that with "right shoulder, right elbow" limiting his participation in one practice, Cousins threw eight interceptions and just one touchdown pass over the next four games, and Atlanta went 1-3 before turning to Penix. Cousins said on 'Quarterback' he did not want to come out because 'You also know that if you sit down Week 10 and take two or three weeks or more to let it heal, you may never get your job back" and referenced Drew Brees' book about Doug Flutie teaching him never to let his backup see the field. 'That was something I always was aware of: that in this league, if you give someone else the chance, if you want to be Wally Pipp and there's Lou Gehrig behind you, that can happen.' Also on 'Quarterback,' Cousins also said he felt 'a little bit misled' by Atlanta signing him in free agency last year, then selecting Penix with the eighth pick in the draft. He said he might have re-signed with the Minnesota Vikings had he known the Falcons would draft a QB in the top 10. "Certainly, if I had the information around free agency, it certainly would've affected my decision,' Cousins said on the first episode of the season. 'I had no reason to leave Minnesota with how much we loved it there if both teams are going to be drafting a quarterback high." Cousins, who turns 37 in August, remains on Atlanta's roster with the beginning of training camp two weeks away. The Las Vegas Raiders haven't won a playoff game since 2003, but one bettor is hoping for a playoff berth — and much, much more — this season from the Silver and Black. A bettor at DraftKings placed a $25,000 wager on the Raiders to win Super Bowl LX at 100-1 odds on April 9. The wager would win $2.5 million if Las Vegas wins the franchise's first Super Bowl since 1984. Advertisement The Raiders underwent several big changes this offseason, including hiring Pete Carroll as head coach to replace Antonio Pierce, trading for QB Geno Smith and drafting Ashton Jeanty No. 6 overall to be their starting running back. Even with those acquisitions, the Raiders still reside in a difficult AFC West that has been won by the Kansas City Chiefs in an astonishing nine straight seasons. Las Vegas has a win total of 7.5 at BetMGM, the worst odds to win the AFC West (12-1) and the fourth-worst playoff odds of any AFC team at +310. In other words, the Raiders have a tall task to make the postseason, let alone make it to — and win — Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara in February. Las Vegas currently has 125-1 odds to win the Super Bowl at BetMGM. The Raiders open the season as three-point road underdogs at the New England Patriots in Week 1 on Sunday, Sept. 7.
