"The reception to the building has been incredibly positive ... people like the project; they're responding well to it and it's filling up," Pizzuti said.
The project opened its doors after nearly five years of reconciling the developer's vision with pushback from the neighborhood over size and design. The company purchased the property in 2017 and began planning for the development in 2020, after the grocery chain decided not to renew its lease in 2019. After a two-and-a-half-year process of incorporating feedback from area residents, construction began in 2022.
Pizzuti remembers that period as "frustrating" but concludes that the final product speaks for itself.
"We have a housing challenge in Columbus, so embracing density where appropriate makes a lot of sense," he said. "I think (the Jaeger Square project) is additive to the neighborhood. It doesn't look intrusive or out of place."
The property includes five floors of tenant amenities: a first floor coworking space and outdoor meditation garden, a second floor indoor club room with a bar and kitchen, art studio and outdoor bocce court, a third floor fitness center, a fourth floor yoga studio and a fifth floor solarium.
As with many Pizzuti projects, the building also incorporates public art from local and international artists.
"The idea is to live with art, not feel like an art gallery," Pizzuti said. "The point was to make it feel natural, comfortable so as people move throughout their day, they're exposed to it but it feels more like a living room."
The ground floor currently has 8,250 square feet of vacant retail space that faces Whittier Street. Pizzuti said they are in discussions with a handful of potential partners but predict finding two or three different tenants with concepts to pique the interest of residents and attract visitors from outside the neighborhood.
In addition to the 262 parking spaces at the development's underground garage, Pizzuti also owns a nearby parking lot that could be used as a valet lot for a potential dining establishment.

Cathy Engelbert confident in reaching ‘transformational' WNBA CBA agreement

The post Cathy Engelbert confident in reaching 'transformational' WNBA CBA agreement appeared first on ClutchPoints. WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said Saturday she remains confident the league and players union can reach a 'transformational' new collective bargaining agreement, or CBA, before the current deal expires at the end of October. Engelbert described July 17's negotiations between the league and the WNBPA as 'constructive,' despite player frustration with the pace of talks. More than 40 players attended the meeting, and several expressed disappointment afterward. Players wore warm-up shirts before Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game that read 'Pay Us What You Owe Us,' highlighting the ongoing tension around compensation and revenue sharing. 'Communication is important, and having that meeting, being at the table, was important with that scale of players,' Engelbert said, as reported by Alexa Philippou of ESPn 'I really respect the players listening. They're listening to our owners, and we're kind of in the middle as the league, trying to make sure we're setting this league up for success for decades.' Revenue sharing central issue to WNBA CBA A central issue remains how revenue is shared. Engelbert said the league's proposal includes multiple models for increased revenue sharing and emphasized the league's growth since the current CBA was signed in 2020. 'We want the same things as the players want,' she said. 'We want to significantly increase their salary and benefits while balancing … owners' ability to have a path to profitability.' Players, however, say the league's proposal falls short. 'It's two fundamentally different systems,' WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike said. 'We want to have a better share where our salaries grow with the business, and not just a fixed percentage over time.' In addition to addressing the ongoing CBA talks, Engelbert also spoke on several other hot topics, including the league's work on expansion draft rules for incoming teams in Toronto and Portland, addressed officiating concerns and evaluating changes to the All-Star Game format. She noted that while the 2026 season will likely extend into November due to the FIBA World Cup, most seasons should still end by mid-October. Natrona Heights' Community Supermarket to shut down this fall

The days of having a convenient supermarket just down the street are coming to a close in Natrona Heights. The Community Supermarket in the Heights Plaza Shopping Center will close its doors this fall. "It just breaks my heart," Debbie Crusan of Saxonburg said. Everyone has their favorite find. But Crusan and others will soon have to look for an alternative grocery store. "It's going to be an inconvenience for sure, for a lot of people, I think anyway," Paul Norris of Tarentum said. Community Supermarket's general manager says it's been a tough economic time for places like this. "They make it tough," general manager George Sears said when asked about the pressures of bigger competition. "They got the money; I guess they can survive," Norris said. About 30 people worked at the store in Natrona Heights. "I'm just going to miss them all. They've been great," Jane Jarosinski of Sarver said. It's part of why coming here was worth it to these residents. "It's not a big box chain," Crusan said. Sears told KDKA-TV that Community Supermarket hopes to retain employees at other locations in Bloomfield, Lower Burrell and Penn Hills. "We are deeply disappointed that Giant Eagle affiliate, Community Market, has opted to discontinue operations at Heights Plaza," asset manager of Heights Plaza Shopping Center, Richard Lubkin, told KDKA-TV in a statement. "Community Market has been a mainstay of the Natrona Heights area for many years. The value-oriented product the grocery store provided was appreciated by thousands of local consumers. A sizable portion of Harrison Township and surrounding communities have relied on Community Market for its shopping needs, including many of our mature citizens. We hope to provide an alternative grocery option for the community in the future."
