‘The Simpsons' producer breaks silence on Marge Simpson's shocking death after fan backlash
D'oh! 'The Simpsons' executive producer Matt Selman has spoken out about the surprising decision to 'kill off' Marge Simpson during a flash-forward scene in the show's Season 36 finale. Although the decision caused major controversy within the hit cartoon's loyal fanbase, Selman slammed the backlash and claimed that it was 'ridiculous.' 5 'The Simpsons' executive producer Matt Selman has spoken out about the decision to 'kill off' Marge Simpson during a flash-forward scene in the show's Season 36 finale. The Hollywood Reporter via Getty Images 'Obviously, since 'The Simpsons' future episodes are all speculative fantasies, they're all different every time,' he told Variety during an interview published on Thursday, June 26. 'Marge will probably never be dead ever again. The only place Marge is dead is in one future episode that aired six weeks ago,' Selman, 53, added. ''The Simpsons' doesn't even have canon!' The episode in question, titled 'Estranger Things' and which aired on May 18, focuses on siblings Bart and Lisa Simpson as they slowly grow apart after they stop watching 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show' together. 5 Selman slammed the backlash and claimed that it was 'ridiculous.' 20thCentFox/Courtesy Everett Collection After a 35-year time jump, the audience learns that Marge has died, Bart and Lisa are estranged, and Homer Simpson, the family's dad, is living in a retirement home. A short scene from Marge's funeral shows Homer in tears while the rest of the Simpsons family stands around him. At the end of the Season 36 finale, Marge watches from Heaven as Bart and Lisa save their dad from the retirement home and reconnect over a reboot of 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show.' 5 A short scene from Marge's funeral shows Homer in tears while the rest of the Simpsons family stands around him. The Simpsons/Disney+ 'I'm so happy my kids are close again,' the Simpsons family matriarch says. It is then revealed that Marge met and married Beatles superstar Ringo Starr while in Heaven. But viewers were not happy to learn that the show's creators 'killed off' Marge Simpson, and many took to social media to express their shock and outrage. 'I haven't even watched The Simpsons in 10+ years but they really killed MARGE?!' one person wrote on X after the episode aired. 5 At the end of the Season 36 finale, Marge watches from Heaven as Bart and Lisa reconnect over a reboot of 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show.' The Simpsons/Disney+ 'What's this I'm hearing they killed Marge Simpson off?' another fan added. 'Marge Simpson is dead?' a third critic commented. 'Utter woke nonsense!' Surprisingly, Selman welcomed the backlash and claimed that it was further proof that 'The Simpsons' and its beloved characters are still relevant after 36 years on TV. 5 Selman welcomed the backlash and claimed that it was further proof that 'The Simpsons' is still relevant after 36 years on TV. B-Side Bangers: Michael Jackson
Michael Ochs Archives The world may never know a talent as great as Michael Jackson, the globally-recognized superstar that almost 20 years after his tragic death on June 25, 2009 is still considered the undisputed King Of Pop. In the many years since we lost him, this week specifically has become an almost annual tribute to his memory where you'll hear much of his classic hits on the radio and music videos being shared in clips across all social media platforms. It's for that reason and so much more that we had to explore some of the deep cuts of his extensive career for our latest 'B-Side Bangers.' RELATED: B-Side Bangers – Mariah Carey A musician like Michael Jackson transcends time, particular given his long trajectory in the game starting from the ripe age of six singing lead in The Jackson 5 well into those very last days as a 50-year-old man — he died a mere 18 days before his planned This Is It comeback tour was scheduled to begin. From the group to his solo work, there is just something truly amazing about the way MJ's voice matures before our very eyes without ever losing that signature soothing tone that helped him evolve from an R&B prodigy into a worldwide icon. It might seem like an oxymoron to say 'MJ deep cut' when every song he's touched feels like gold — Thriller essentially is an album of number ones! — but there's definitely a few rare gems and often overlooked classics in his catalogue. Even in 2025, his musical imprint finds a way to continue through the recent success of MJ the Musical . Since opening in 2022, the Broadway show based on his life and greatest hits has grossed more than 265 million dollars, garnered multiple Tony Awards and the cast album even received a GRAMMY nomination for 'Best Musical Theater Album.' We will never forget Michael Jackson and the music he gave us for any and all occasions. As you remember the times with the rest of the world, enjoy these rarities that will hopefully make you hear The King Of Pop from a whole new perspective. Collaborations with The Notorious B.I.G. and Stevie Wonder? Scat-rapping over a rock-tinged Isley Brothers sample? The original reference song for 'Thriller' with a whole new song title and chorus?! There was nothing MJ couldn't do! 'Everybody's Somebody's Fool' (1972) Album: Ben 'This Time Around' (feat. The Notorious B.I.G.) Michael Jordan Trolls Giants Legend Lawrence Taylor on Golf Course

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Golf has long been the go-to playground for big names, where often legends like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Donald Trump, and Steph Curry trade stadium lights for fairways and friendly banter. But sometimes, those actions on the greens become the stage for unforgettable moments. That's exactly what happened this week when NBA icon Michael Jordan rolled up on NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor and turned a casual reunion into a viral comedy sketch. (Image collage | Getty Images) Getty Images The encounter took place during a casual round at Jordan's exclusive club, Grove XXIII, on Thursday. Jordan, dressed in Tiger Woods' Sun Day Red, pulled up in his cart and greeted Taylor with a warm hug. "How you doin'?" Jordan asked. "Alright," Taylor replied. "Just hangin' in there." The two North Carolina legends shared a quick embrace before Jordan turned to greet the rest of the group. But just as he was about to drive off, he spotted Taylor's footwear, black slip-on shoes with black socks, and couldn't resist. "Man, you really doing motherf***ing relaxing on my golf course!" Jordan quipped, pointing at Taylor's shoes. The entire group, including Taylor, burst into laughter as Jordan sped off in his cart. Taylor, never one to back down, fired back with a grin, joking about Jordan's retirement leisurewear. "Seriously, you so relaxed like a motherf*****," Taylor joked. The moment, caught on video, quickly went viral across social media platforms, with fans loving the rare glimpse of two GOATs trading jabs. This is awesome: Michael Jordan pulled up on Lawrence Taylor while playing golf and immiedialy started talking sh*t. Just two GOATs having fun 😂🐐 — Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) June 27, 2025 Jordan's golf course antics are nothing new. From betting on 50-foot putts to trash-talking Charles Barkley mid-round, his airness has built a second legacy on the links. "I kind of got into golf mainly because, from a competitive standpoint, to me, it is the hardest game to play," he once said. "For a competitive person like me, this is what keeps me sane." Talking about the bond between Jordan and Taylor, it runs deep. As Taylor was preparing to leave UNC for the NFL in 1981, Jordan was just arriving on campus to begin his basketball journey. "We played a lot of pickup, hung out a lot," Taylor told the New York Post in 2020. "He's probably the most competitive person I know. He'll bet on a 50-foot putt and make it nine times out of ten."
