The spine is both a medical miracle and a corporate necessity for self-belief, said Gautam Adani, the Chairman of Adani Group, on Friday.
Addressing the 5th Annual Conference of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery - Asia Pacific (SMISS-AP) in Mumbai, the Adani Group Chairman referred to the spine as an important part of the human body, as well as for making decisions in life.
"The spine you mend is the ultimate architecture needed for the resilience of the human body. And just as you restore resilience to our bodies, leadership is about restoring resilience to the organisation," Gautam Adani said.
"Perhaps today, this shared metaphor will remind us that a spine is both -- a medical miracle, and a corporate necessity for self-belief," the Adani Group Chairman added.
Gautam Adani also saluted healthcare workers for their humanity and courage.
"Your humanity is what restores your patients' dignity. It gives them the strength and the courage to stand tall again to the world," Gautam Adani said.
"Doctors represent hope. You may be spine doctors to the world, but for your patients, you are something far greater," the Adani Group Chairman added.
Calling "Munna Bhai MBBS" his all-time favourite movie for the message it shares, Gautam Adani said that the character Munna Bhai goes on healing people with humanity.
The Adani Group Chairman noted that "true healing goes far beyond surgery...healing is hope, healing is humanity".
Further, referring to "resilience of spine", Gautam Adani said he set forth to Mumbai to chart his own path.
"I made my first bold decision at the age of 16, left for Mumbai without a degree and without a job, except with a burning desire to define my own path," said the Adani Group Chairman, Gautam Adani.

A research study from the Mallika Spine Centre in Guntur won the best paper award at the Annual Conference of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery – Asia-Pacific (SMISS-AP). Suresh Babu, spine surgeon at the centre, who led the research, informed that the achievement marked the first time an Indian research team earned this distinction. The study explores the integration of ultrasonic laser technology in endoscopic spine surgeries for back and neck pain. It demonstrates that procedures can be performed through incisions as small as 4 millimetres, using ultrasonic sound waves to achieve high precision, minimal bleeding, and faster recovery. 'This is the first documented global instance of ultrasonic technology being applied successfully in endoscopic spine surgery. The award announcement was made by SMISS-AP president Y. Kotani during a conference held in Mumbai from July 10 to 13. A travel fellowship was also granted to team member Dr. Pudhvi Reddy to pursue further research exposure across Asia-Pacific,' Dr. Suresh Babu said.

Israel-Hamas War: 85 Palestinians killed while seeking food, evacuation orders issued in Central Gaza
At least 85 Palestinians were killed while trying to reach food, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Sunday, entering the 21st month of the war in the Middle East, according to news agency AP. There was a new alarm as Israel's military issued evacuation orders for parts of central Gaza, one of the few areas where it has rarely operated with ground troops and where many international organisations trying to distribute aid are located, the agency said. The highest death toll was reported in devastated northern Gaza, where living conditions are especially dire. At least 79 Palestinians were killed while trying to reach aid entering through the Zikim crossing with Israel, Zaher al-Waheidi, head of the Health Ministry's records department, told The Associated Press. The UN World Food Program said 25 trucks with aid had entered for 'starving communities' when it encountered massive crowds. A UN official, speaking on condition of anonymity with AP, said Israeli forces opened fire toward crowds who tried to take food from the convoy.
