Four-stage 2025 Women's Tour of Britain set for northern England and Scotland
Buoyed by news that the men's and women's Tour de France will start in Britain in 2027, this summer's four-day women's race will start in Yorkshire on 5 June and end in Glasgow four days later.
The opening two stages will take in Dalby Forest, the North York Moors national park and the Tees Valley, before heading to the Scottish Borders on stage three, before the final stage on a city-centre circuit in Glasgow.
The Scottish rider Neah Evans said: 'I started my cycling journey after a taster session at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome so Glasgow is a special place to me for that.'
Jonathan Day, managing director of British Cycling Events, said: 'We have first visits for the race to Dalby Forest and the North York Moors national park, from where we will race through North Yorkshire and into the Tees Valley.
'Saltburn Bank as a stage finish [stage two] will prove very popular with fans,' Day added. Saltburn's 15% gradients have featured in past editions of the men's Tour of Britain and have hosted the British national championships.
The Belgian rider Lotte Kopecky, winner of the world road race title in Glasgow in 2023, is expected to defend her title, while the sport's highest-paid rider, Demi Vollering of the Netherlands, and 2024 Tour de France champion, Polish star Kasia Niewadoma, are also potential starters.
The continued growth of women's cycling is reflected by both the unprecedented status of Vollering, as a Nike ambassador and the highest earner in the women's peloton, and steady growth in rider salaries, allied to reports that global revenues from women's elite sport will reach at least £1.88bn this year.
Detailed route information for both the men's and women's Tours of Britain will be announced later in the spring.
Meanwhile, the host towns for the men's Tour of Britain, scheduled for 2 to 7 September, have yet to be announced and details remain scant. Both races will be directed by Rod Ellingworth, formerly of Team Sky and Ineos Grenadiers, now also working as a senior manager at the Bahrain Victorious on the UCI World Tour.

The popular supermarket worked with grower partners Bruce Farms and supplier Scotty Brand to bring this unique variety to the shop floors. Geoff Bruce, director at Bruce Farms, said: "The golden raspberries have been a real passion project for us and it's exciting to be at the forefront of introducing something new to the Scottish soft fruit sector. "As growers, we're always looking for ways to innovate and explore different varieties that not only thrive in our climate but also offer a unique selling point for customers." What shoppers can expect from bizarre new item In addition to the distinctive yellow colour, the fruit is said to have a "delicate texture" and bring all the flavour of traditional varieties of the beloved berry. Andrew Scott, development manager at Scotty Brand, added: "Our long-standing partnership with Asda has enabled us to bring this exclusive new product to market, supporting growth and diversification within the sector while showcasing the exceptional quality of Scottish produce and the vital role of local, sustainable growing practices." Rare fruits are all the rage Asda isn't the only UK store to experiment with bizarre berries. Last year, shoppers went wild for Marks and Spencer's white pearl strawberries. Everyone can see the berries but you have a genius level IQ if you can spot the heart shaped one Shoppers flocked to M&S to get their hands on the berry that allegedly tasted like white chocolate. One user commented on social media: "These are amazing." While another said: "This is a craving I didn't even know I had." How to save at Asda Shop the budget range Savvy shopper Eilish Stout-Cairns recommends that shoppers grab items from Asda's Just Essentials range. She said: "Asda's budget range is easy to spot as it's bright yellow! Keep your eyes peeled for yellow and you'll find their Just Essentials range. "It's great value and I've found it has a much wider selection of budget items compared to other supermarkets. Sign up to Asda Rewards The savvy-saver also presses on the importance of signing up to Asda's reward scheme. She said: "Asda Rewards is free to join and if you shop at Asda you should absolutely sign up. "As an Asda Rewards member, you'll get exclusive discounts and offers, and you'll also be able to earn 10% cashback on Star Products. "This will go straight into your cashpot, and once you've earned at least £1, you can transfer the money in your cashpot into ASDA vouchers. We've previously rounded up the best supermarket loyalty schemes - including the ones that will save you the most money. Look out for booze deals Eilish always suggests that shoppers looking to buy booze look out for bargain deals. She said: "Asda often has an alcohol offer on: buy six bottles and save 25%. "The offer includes selected bottles with red, white and rose options, as well as prosecco. There are usually lots of popular bottles included, for example, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot and Freixenet Prosecco D.O.C. "Obviously, the more expensive the bottles you choose, the more you save." Join Facebook groups The savvy saver also recommends that fans of Asda join Facebook groups to keep in the know about the latest bargains in-store. Eilish said: "I recommend joining the Latest Deals Facebook Group to find out about the latest deals and new launches in store. "Every day, more than 250,000 deal hunters share their latest bargain finds and new releases. "For example, recently a member shared a picture of Asda's new Barbie range spotted in store. "Another member shared the bargain outdoor plants she picked up, including roses for 47p, blackcurrant bushes for 14p and topiary trees for 14p."

Tiger Woods makes business statement as Zach Johnson speaks on Ryder Cup dilemma
The golfing world is already gearing up for the year's final major at the Open Championship, with the Ryder Cup also a hot topic of conversation. Many of the sport's leading figures are taking a break before the Scottish Open next week, as they prepare for the Open at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland later this month. British golfers Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose have taken advantage of their downtime to indulge in another sport. Stateside, Keegan Bradley has named his fifth vice-captain for the Ryder Cup. However, Zach Johnson has expressed doubts about the prospect of Bradley serving as a playing captain. Away from competing, Tiger Woods is expanding his business empire as he continues his recovery from surgery. Zach Johnson comments on Keegan Bradley Former Ryder Cup captain Johnson was asked about the possibility of Bradley breaking with tradition by becoming a playing captain at the Bethpage Black Course in September. Johnson led the US team at the 2023 Ryder Cup. Fresh from his victory at the Travelers Championship, Bradley is currently ranked seventh in the world and has yet to confirm his decision to compete as a player. If he does, he would be the first captain to do so since Arnold Palmer in 1963. Johnson confessed that he would have found it challenging to juggle both roles at the Ryder Cup, albeit having complete confidence in the current team and their calls. When asked by The Golf Channel about the possibility of being a playing captain, Johnson admitted: "I mean obviously that's a massive hypothetical. I could not, personally, but I wasn't playing at near the level that Keegan was playing then or now. No one's surprised by that level, I mean, we're talking about a stalwart in our game. "No, I cannot, but, I say that, it's hypothetical. I don't know what would have transpired if that were the case. This year, they're going to have difficult choices regardless, whether he's playing or not. Ultimately, I firmly trust any and all decisions that they'll be making." Gary Woodland joins Ryder Cup team As Bradley ponders the prospect of becoming the first playing captain in over six decades, he has brought on board Gary Woodland as his latest vice-captain. This marks Woodland's first involvement in a Ryder Cup in any capacity, either as a player or vice-captain. This appointment comes just two years after Woodland, the 2019 US Open champion, underwent brain surgery to remove a tumour. The 41-year-old joins Jim Furyk, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker as vice-captains. "Keegan's passion for this event is contagious and I am thrilled to be a part of it," Woodland said. "With just over two months to go until we arrive at Bethpage, I am fully committed to doing everything I can to help Keegan as well as our team of vice-captains and players." Bradley stated his admiration for Woodland upon his appointment: "I have an incredible amount of respect and admiration for Gary and all he has accomplished in this game. As a major champion and someone who is still competing at a high level, he is well aware of the demands of performing on golf's biggest stages. He will be a valuable leader for us over the coming months and throughout the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black." Tiger Woods expands business Woods has been busy off the course expanding his business ventures. Despite being sidelined from competition due to Achilles surgery, Woods has been growing his Sun Day Red apparel line, which he launched last year in collaboration with TaylorMade. Initially adopting a direct-to-customer sales model since its inception last May, Sun Day Red gear will now also grace the shelves of various on-course golf shops across the US. As reported by Forbes, Woods explained that the venues are all places that hold significant meaning in his illustrious career. "These aren't just any golf courses. Many of these places hold deep meaning for me," Woods explained. "Some are where I've won tournaments that shaped my career, others are courses I've had the privilege to design, venues where I've competed in majors, and clubs where I'm honoured to be a member. It feels right to have Sun Day Red available at these special places where the game is played." Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood enjoy Wimbledon Golf stars Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose swapped the fairways for the tennis court as they enjoyed some downtime at Wimbledon. The pair were spotted in the prestigious Royal Box at the All England Club, rubbing shoulders with a host of celebrities. Rose, alongside his wife Kate, was seen soaking up the tennis action on Tuesday, seated near Hollywood A-listers Cate Blanchett and Russell Crowe. The former US Open champion watched Barbora Krejcikova kick off her title defence, Alexander Zverev's surprising exit and Novak Djokovic's victorious start. Fleetwood, who recently narrowly missed out on his first PGA title at the Travellers Championship, made his Wimbledon appearance the next day. He and his wife Clare were snapped in the Royal Box, sharing the space with the likes of John Cena, Olivia Rodrigo and Dave Grohl. Fleetwood had the chance to watch reigning Wimbledon champ Carlos Alcaraz and women's world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in action.

She met with King Charles at Holyrood Palace on Tuesday where she was presented with the honour. 'I was a bit nervous but felt really proud,' said Sandra. 'The King was standing on a plinth in the throne room and asked me what involvement I still have in athletics. 'I told him I still officiate and coach. 'I told him I have been doing this for a long time and it's nice to give something back.' Sandra still coaches four days a week and officiates at weekends. She added: 'I don't know what I'd do without athletics, my life has just always been this. It's great seeing young people come through.'
